Dog Zong not racist - LGE

PETALING JAYA: DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has come out in defence of Chinese education group Dong Zong, saying the party does not agree it is racist as claimed by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

In a statement, Lim said Dong Zong has never threatened the rights and security of other Malaysians.

“Instead, Dong Zong respects the Federal Constitution (and the) position of Bahasa Malaysia as the national language, while other languages can be freely taught and learnt,” he said.

Earlier, Mahathir again attacked Dong Zong but stopped short of saying whether the government would ban the organisation amid an online petition that has garnered tens of thousands of signatures.

This comes a day after he labelled Dong Zong “racist” after the group launched its own petition to oppose the move to introduce khat lessons in the Bahasa Melayu syllabus next year.

Lim said while everyone has the right to object against what Dong Zong said, the group has the right to freedom of expression.

“Such democratic right of freedom of expression, however, must not threaten punishment or inflict injury on those who have different views,” he said, adding that DAP disagreed with any suggestion to ban Dong Zong.

Lim also said since taking over the reins of the country last year, Mahathir has adopted an open approach to freedom of expression and has even given instructions that no one should be arrested or prosecuted for severely criticising him as prime minister.

“Therefore, DAP believes that the prime minister has no intention of banning Dong Zong,” he added.

tuesday arrive in shangrila KK ..

yesterday ... im at hotel alone after meeting..

around 2PM .. i open wechat at hotel .. because so many korean there using wechat .. want to see if got cun korean..

KOTA BARU: Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat (pic), who has just relinquished the Kelantan Mentri Besar's post, said he will reject any attempts by Umno to initiate goodwill talks with PAS.

He said it would be Umno who will have to seek PAS for help as Umno is fast running out of friends, including the Chinese community.

“If they (Umno) come, I will spit at them. They have misinterpreted Islam,” he said at his house in Pulau Melaka here yesterday.

According to Nik Aziz, Umno is facing political turmoil because it had embraced nationalism instead of Islam.

“If they embrace Islam, then we can talk about Malay unity,” he said when asked to comment on state Umno secretary Datuk Md Alwi Che Ahmad, who asked Umno to initiate goodwill talks with PAS under the premise of a national reconciliation initiative by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Nik Aziz claimed that Umno was not good in keeping friends, citing history on why PAS broke off from Barisan Nasional in the 1970s, and on how Umno had abused the now defunct Semangat 46 party.

On the lack of support from the Malays towards PAS, Nik Aziz blamed it on the lack of proper information about its struggles.

He added that Pakatan Rakyat lacked the media resources to propagate the teachings of Islam.

On his sudden move to retire, he said that he made the decision two or three days before the start of campaigning for the 13th general election.

IMHO,
nowadays i always pre book airasia meal when buying tickets. The food are much tastier. and variety.more than 10 menus to choose.

compare to MAS which is very plain. the only good side is got juices+refills/chocolates .. the kuih is so plain nowadays. dont bother to eat. the nasi lemak is just so so .. even satay is plain ..

I got few Malay Sarawakian friend, they say when they apply for anything like scholarship. jobs, college, university .. they never put Malay as their race..

they always put bumiputera, bumiputera sarawak, Melanau or iban/dayak if no other choices..

they say the chances are higher to get job/scholarship/study offer if they are not malay. because they can use the special quota allocated for those people ..

even when applying for UITM last time my friend say got difference between Malay Sarawak and Malay Peninsular .. WTF?

I went to McD just now ...

got one person infront me .. later got 2 ppl queue behind me ..

suddenly got 1 arab woman coming from my right side .. and she cut my queue ..

she suddenly order her ice cream ..

later i told her .. " next time please queue la .. dont be rude here ... this is Malaysia u know "

she answer she was on queue ...

i told her " the queue is behind me .. you cant see is it ? "

later she silent .. and akak McD immediately take my order instead although she already finish prepare the woman's MCFlurry .
