Advise to build a new AMD rig

1. Currently I have a spare AMD Phenom II x2 550BE which I can unlock it to become B50 Quad core.
However, I would like to get a compatible DDR3 motherboard. Can anyone recommend a budget DDR3 motherboard (~rm200) that can be used to do the unlocking and minor overclocking?

2. On the other hand, I want to upgrade another rig with this spec:
AMD Phenom II x3 720BE (3.4Ghz) | CM Hyper TX3 | Biostar TA790GX 128M | KVR DDR2 800 2x2GB | ASUS ENGTX560 Ti DCII TOP | FSP SAGA II 500W

is it recommended to upgrade my 4gb DDR2 800Mhz ram to 6gb cos I have spare 2x DDR2 667Mhz 1gb sticks. Does the lower frequency (667Mhz) matters?

Buying new GC

Hey guys,

I would like to upgrade my current PC so that I can play MW3, BF3 as well as the upcoming Batman Arkham smoothly.
Preferably at full HD resolution.

As u can see from my signature, the current PC setup I am using is AMD Phenom II x3 720, 4GB RAM, AMD HD4670 and FSP SAGA II 500W.

I have around RM500-600 to spare for the upgrade. Would u guys kindly advise me what to upgrade?

My current consideration is getting a new GC, either Nvidia GTX560 or HD6870. But I am afraid that my processor will reach its bottleneck.
Do you guys have any other suggestions?

AMD 5770 or GTS450?

Hey guys,
recently my HD4670 crashed on me whenever I am using skype to make videocall.
so I figured that I need a new graphics card.
The two models I have in mind are AMD HD5770 or Nvidia GTS450
my budget is around rm350-400. Can you guys recommend me a good card preferbly a low power one?
because my PSU is only coolermaster extreme 430w...or should I get a new PSU instead to pair with my new GPU

CPU fan speed at 5000RPM

I recently bought a Phenom II x3 720BE proc and a Biostar TA790GX 128M mobo.
After the installation, I found out that the proc fan is getting noisy.
so I checked, and it is running at 5000RPM with Sys temp at 41C and CPU temp at 38C
My questions are :
1) is it supposed to be normal? i mean for a pII proc to run at 5000 RPM at those temp.
2) if this is normal, how am i going to solve it =)
do i need a new HST fan? any recommendation?

p/s: another new discovery, the fan turns quiet when aircond is switched on. the fan speed drops to around 3000 rpm.

Motherboard for Phenom II AM3

I plan to get one AM2+ motherboard for Phenom II X3 720.
initially Biostar TA790GX seems quite good to me, but it lacks the support for e-sata.
I need e-sata port so that i can connect W.D mybook home ed more conveniently.
anyone can help me by recommending a mobo that supports e-sata that costs about rm400 ?

Upgrade my PC for gaming purpose

As shown in the title, i want to upgrade my pc to play high graphics games especially GTAIV
the budget i have is rm800-rm1000 (hope to minimize the cost)

my current specs :
AMD Athlon 3800x2
ABIT KN9S
2 x 1GB DDR2 800 RAM
Palit ATI 4670
W.D 250GB SATA
C.M. 430w

i guess changing the mobo and processor is a must for me now.

1. according to PC Buying Guide by Goldfries,
i am looking at Phenom II x3 720 BE (rm520) and Biostar TA790GX (rm355).

2. according to PC Building threadby skcs1985,
i am advised to get PHENOM 9750 QUAD CORE (RM545) and Asus M2N68 (RM205) while keeping other components untouched.

my question is as follow:
1) what's the difference of getting DDR3 mobo and DDR2 mobo for the Phenom II x3 720 BE? does it affect the gaming performance significantly? or simply for the sake of future proof?
2) phenom 9750 quad core is priced roughly the same as phenom II x3, it seems that this recommendation by skcs1985 is not suitable?
3) any recommendation for Intel specifications? i would prefer a quad core system thou (multitasking FTW!).
4) my PSU is working fine with both of the AMD processors i mentioned above? (pls dont suggest i7,its way out of my budget =P)

Why is Dell LCD monitor cheaper than Samsung's?

I intend to purchase a 22"/24" FULL HD LCD monitor
after making some comparisons, I think Dell and Samsung offer rather nice monitors, i.e Dell S2209W 21.5" (RM529, dell.com) /S2409W 24"(RM699) and Samsung 2233SW (RM565, PCzone).
Why Dell 22" is cheaper as compared to Samsung's monitor while both product specs are similar?
and another question, should i buy 22" or 24"? i will use my monitor for drama, HD movies, office work.

CPU build for artwork designing

I am having this problem of choosing the right parts for my new CPU, after doing much research.
according goldfries.com, setup for artwork purpose is focused on the multi-processing,hence the need of having a Phenom x4 processor.
however, the graphics recommended is onboard video. this confused me as I thought a discrete GC such as the newer 4670 or some other workstation GC can help to improve the graphic processing for certain artwork designing softwares such as MAYA (the one i am using), illustrator...
So can anyone help to clear my doubts?

btw, I need some recommendations on the GC and Processor for this artwork setup too.

windows xp problem

Hi
after leaving my PC for a while...running download App such as eMule..it disconects
from internet and i can`t open any other apps, also not able to restart the internet
connection -Win saying modem is busy or something like that...
i have cable modem.

when i try to run taskmngr (ctrl alt del) it says Windows error: the application
failed to initialize properly 0xc0000017 click ok to terminate...

event Viewer shows in system:"Remote acces" - info 20159, then - "IPNATHLP" error
31012 repeating 4 times, then "srv" error 2019 and then dhcp error 1008.
after restarting everything works fine for another couple of hours....

virus eating into my harddisk!

there is a virus or something bad in my laptop that will eat into my harddisk space..
for example, my harddisk will suddenly decrease 5 Gb from 10 GB...
the space eaten may or may not be revived after i restart my laptop
this is extremely bad !!!!!
can someone help me!!!
