ROBIN VAN PERSIE is Arsenal’s double Player of the Year, Premier League Golden Boot winner... and self-confessed mummy’s boy.

The Gunners captain admits he would be lost without the inspirational women in his life — mum Jose, wife Bouchra, daughter Dina and sisters Kiki and Lilly.

The Dutch superstar, 28, said: “It’s because of my mother that I’m the man I am today.

“She always encouraged me to think for myself. It’s always important for me to get Mum’s opinion of my performance after a match and I make no excuses about being a mummy’s boy.

“The women in my life are very influential, even on the football pitch.

“My mother, wife and sisters are always honest and sometimes harsh in their criticism. I respect their opinions.

“And Dina is my princess. I am a typical doting dad. She can twist me round her little finger just by smiling.

“It’s always dangerous to believe your own publicity but, by talking to the women in my life and looking at my kids, I will remain firmly grounded.”

Teacher Jose is RVP’s very own Special One.

She has bought a stack of books on the beautiful game so she can follow his career more closely. She said: “He reminds me of a deer, the elegant way he moves.

He said: “Patrick was a great leader. He would never belittle the younger players, though he could be hard if he needed to be.

“He had natural authority, everyone looked up to him and trusted his judgement.”

RVP has also learnt a lot from Dutch captain Mark van Bommel.

Van Persie said: “He orchestrates everything, stays strong for the team and gets on with everyone. I love playing in the same team as him and I’d love to see him at Arsenal.”

RVP has just a year left on his contract and is a target for Barca and Manchester City.

But his mum has no doubts he should sign a new contract for the Londoners — and her opinion counts for a lot.

I'm Eden to Chelsea! Blues beat City and United in race to sign £32m Hazard

Eden Hazard revealed on Monday night he would be joining Chelsea in a £32million deal - a massive statement of intent by the European champions.

Hazard announced on Twitter that he would be signing for Chelsea after weeks of talks with them, Manchester United and Manchester City.

The Lille playmaker, one of the most coveted players in Europe, will sign a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge once details have been finalised.

It is an amazing coup for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, who has not even appointed a manager for next season but is intent on rebuilding a team that finished only sixth in the Barclays Premier League.

The deal is a clear indication that the west Londoners will challenge the might of the Manchester clubs, especially newly-crowned champions City and their Abu Dhabi owners.

Hazard, 21, is with the Belgium squad preparing for Saturday's friendly against England at Wembley. City pulled out of the deal for Hazard last week because of his incredible salary demands, which are close to £200,000 a week, and his agent John Bico's demands for £6m.

However, Chelsea are understood to have reached a compromise agreement with his representative.

Hazard will play in a new-look Chelsea attack that is purpose built by Abramovich for the next manager.

Juan Mata, Germany international Marko Marin, who will also be coming to Stamford Bridge from Werder Bremen in a £6m deal, and Hazard are being primed for the three advanced midfield positions to provide the ammunition for Fernando Torres.

Hazard came to prominence with Lille during their 2010-11 title-winning season and has just been named Player of the Year in France for the second successive season.

In an attempt to lure Hazard to Old Trafford, Sir Alex Ferguson, who will now step up his attempts to sign Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund, had offered him the famous No 7 shirt vacated by Michael Owen.

Instead the Belgian has been persuaded by Abramovich that his future lies at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's owner wants to reestablish them as the best team in the country and this is part of his plan to create one of the most attacking teams in Europe.

Reacting to the developments, a Chelsea spokesman said: 'As with all transfers, when we have something to announce, we will announce it in the usual way.'

Didier Drogba formally announced his decision to leave Chelsea after eight years on Tuesday, then backed Fernando Torres to fill his boots next season.

The striker who claimed he would have signed a new deal with the club if they had not lifted the European Cup, said: 'They tried hard to keep me, but after eight years of trying to achieve something the feeling is, "What next?"

'I told the Big Boss (Roman Abramovich) and he said he understood my feelings and that I have blue blood and will be a Chelsea player for ever.

'Now it is a new era and Chelsea are in good hands with Fernando. He'll do the job.

'He's been through difficult moments, but it took me three years to properly settle - it's not easy to play here.'

The Ivory Coast striker, 34, has not made a decision on his future, but said he has had offers from Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua, an MLS team and European sides, and will not stay in England.

He added: 'Who knows, I could come back as manager one day - I'd cut the grass if they asked me to.'

Chelsea are ready to put £50million-rated Radamel Falcao at the top of their wishlist to replace Didier Drogba when the club finalise their transfer plans in the coming days.

The European champions have already held a series of technical-based forward planning meetings designed to shape next season's footballing operation.

Those discussions were put on the back-burner as the club focused on the Champions League and FA Cup finals.

But with both trophies secured, the Chelsea hierarchy will restart the task of planning for next season this week.

And the issue of who will replace Drogba - who has agreed to join Chinese club Shanghai Shenua - is towards the top of the club's priorities.

As it stands the Atletico Madrid striker Falcao, Napoli centre-forward Edinson Cavani and Real Madrid goalscorer Gonzalo Higuain feature on the list of potential replacements for the Ivorian.

Sportsmail understands Falcao has now edged to the top of the club's striker wishlist.

Chelsea remain unconvinced former manager Jose Mourinho would agree to selling Higuain, who scored 26 goals for the La Liga champions last season.

And it is understood while confirming their interest in Cavani, Chelsea have been non-committal over whether they will stump up the £35million Napoli want for the Uruguay striker during initial talks with the player's representatives.

It has also been indicated to Chelsea that Cavani - who is also on Manchester City's radar - would also look for a deal worth in the region of £150,000-per-week.

Axed manager Andre Villas-Boas initiated Chelsea's interest in Falcao following his arrival last summer.

The pair worked together at Porto before leaving Portugal for new club's ahead of last season.

And Falcao, a Colombia international, has continued his prolific goalscoring form in Spain, bagging 36 goals in his first season at Atletico.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have held advanced talks with Porto over their interest in attacker Hulk, who is keen to join the Stamford Bridge club.

The Blues have also joined the race to sign Lille forward Eden Hazard and are interested in Newcastle's Cheick Tiote.

If Chelsea's swoop Falcao proves successful then he is likely to join Fernando Torres in a new-look strike force next season.

Despite voicing concerns over his stuttering first full season at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea sources insists they still expect the £50million-man to remain at the club next season.

Andriy Shevchenko is being lined up for a coaching role at Chelsea as part of owner Roman Abramovich’s sweeping changes.

The £30million Chelsea flop is taking his coaching badges and can accept a role at the club when he decides to quit playing.

Shevchenko, 35, is still a member of the Dynamo Kiev squad, but he has been a regular visitor to Chelsea’s training ground this season.

He has been watching the team train and monitoring methods on a frequent basis as he recovers from injury.

Despite his disastrous spell at Chelsea, when the striker scored just nine goals in 48 games after signing from Milan in 2006, he remains close friends with Abramovich.
