Rela confirms halt of patrol duties

https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/437149

The People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) will cease patrol duties at 98 of its community service centres nationwide effective Sept 1.

In a statement today, the department clarified that a letter leaked onto social media was about the cease of these patrol duties and had nothing to do with a cut in allowances for Rela personnel.

"The patrol duties were created in January last year to help safeguard the security in local areas.

"It was on a temporary basis and involved 98 centres with 294 paid personnel," it said.

The department said the stopping of the patrol duties was made based on financial and practical considerations and would not affect the centres' other operations which would continue as usual.

SST CREDIT CARD

http://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/serv...sed-part-sst-20

KUALA LUMPUR (July 19): Service tax on credit or charge cards, which was scrapped when the goods and services tax was implemented back in 2015, has made its way back in the proposed new model for the sales and services tax (SST), which is deemed SST 2.0, that is due to be implemented on Sept 1.

According to the Royal Malaysian Customs website, under the Frequently Asked Questions on Service Tax, the following was stated as Question 35:

Q: Will I be charged RM25 on existing credit or charge card on Sept 1, 2018?

A: The existing effective period of the card will not be subject to service tax of RM25 until the next annual renewal.

In other words, the service tax of RM25 on each credit or charge card that an individual owns will be charged upon renewal of the card.

It should be noted that the amount is less compared to the old service tax model. Under the old service tax model, a service tax of RM50 a year on each principal credit card and charge card, and a service tax of RM25 a year on each supplementary card was implemented.

Under SST 2.0 the RM25 charge will be applied to each credit or charge card, regardless if it is a principal or supplementary card.

unifi-wireless-broadband

UniFi Wireless Broadband Is Here: 60GB Quota for RM 79 Per Month
TM UniFi
It has come to our attention that TM has begun to offer a new wireless service under its UniFi arm. Branded as the UniFi Wireless Broadband, it is supposedly different from the mobile wireless broadband that was previously offered by either UniFi Mobile or its previous incarnation, Webe.

For example, the UniFi Wireless Broadband offers 60GB of data for RM79 per month while the UniFi Mobile wireless broadband comes with 20GB of data for RM59 per month. At the same time, the newly revealed UniFi Wireless Broadband service allows customers connection to be shared with up to 64 devices simultaneously, while the UniFi Mobile wireless broadband is limited to only up to 10 devices.

However, there is indeed one major similarity between them. Just like its UniFi Mobile counterpart, the UniFi Wireless Broadband does not come with any contract.

For those who are interested to sign up for the new UniFi Wireless Broadband service, you have to purchase the Huawei 4G B618 WiFi Router from TM as well. That being said, the company is offering it at RM599 which is much lower than the market price (a quick check shows the prices range from RM1300 to RM1500).

Since the service is using UniFi Mobile’s LTE network, it is advisable to check the quality of the network coverage within your area before you sign for this service. For further information, head on to UniFi’s official website.

(Source: UniFi)

https://www.lowyat.net/2018/159367/unifi-wi...nd-price-quota/

sunway-proposes-listing-of-construction-unit-on-bursa

Written by Ahmad Naqib Idris Adzman Shah of theedgemalaysia.com
Friday, 19 September 2014 18:48

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 19): Sunway Bhd has proposed the listing of its
indirect wholly-owned construction unit, Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd
(SunCon), on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia by the second quarter of
2015.

The group will be injecting SunCon into a new company, Sunway
Construction Group Bhd (SCG) for the proposed listing.

“The main rationale for the proposed listing of SCG is to unlock the
value of SunCon and distribute part of the benefits to the shareholders
of Sunway,” said Sunway Group Founder and Chairman, Tan Sri Jeffrey
Cheah in a press release this evening.

Under the proposed listing exercise, Sunway has proposed a 1-for-10
distribution-in-specie of free SCG shares to shareholders of Sunway.

“Besides the proposed distribution-in-specie, a special cash dividend
will also be declared and distributed to the shareholders of Sunway from
the proceeds of the proposed offer for sale of SCG shares,” Cheah added.

The group said up to 35.7% of SCG shares will be offered to
institutional and retail investors, while Sunway will retain majority
control of SCG, with at least 51% equity stake.

SunCon has over 30 years of experience in the construction business, and
has completed major projects including the Kuala Lumpur Convention
Centre, SILK Highway, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall and Legoland Theme Park.

The company has also ventured into India, Trinidad and Tobago and the
Middle East.

SunCon boasts an orderbook of RM3.4 billion as at July 31, 2014, and has
won many awards, including the International Achievement Award at the
Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards (MCIEA) in 2009 and 2013.

The company was previously listed on the then Kuala Lumpur Stock
Exchange in 1997 for seven years, and was de-listed in 2004, after
receiving a voluntary general offer by Sunway Holdings Incorporated Bhd.

Sunway closed 6 sen higher today at RM3.36, bringing its market
capitalisation to RM5.77 billion.

UPCOMING IPO >> UMOBILE

U Mobile plans IPO, RM1.5 billion network expansion, says CEO[U]

Malaysian telecoms company U Mobile is planning an initial public offering (IPO) as it embarks on a RM1.5 billion network expansion, chief executive officer Wong Heang Tuck told Reuters today.

Wong declined to say much the company planned to raise or when it would launch the IPO. Asked about the offering, Wong said: "It depends on where the market is at that point in time... but we are on our way there."

Privately owned U Mobile is Malaysia's fourth largest mobile phone operator by subscriber numbers. Its stakeholders include Malaysian billionaire Vincent Tan and Singapore Technologies Telemedia.

Wong said U Mobile expects its revenue to grow 50% and market share to rise to 10% in 2015 from around 6-7% now after the expansion, which will see it add 2,000 new sites to the 4,400 already operating.

The company is planning to expand its network as bigger rivals such as Maxis and Axiata face declining profits mainly due to intense competition. In the second quarter, Maxis said its net profit fell 15.5% while Axiata posted a 30.5% drop.

Wong said U Mobile's strategy of targeting younger users would help it remain competitive.

"Our value proposition is that we are in the right market segment, especially where most of our subscribers are young.
IPO : 1MDB

Malaysia’s 1MDB Said To Prepare $2 Billion IPO Of Power Assets

1Malaysia Development Bhd., the state investment company known as 1MDB, plans to raise as much as $2 billion in an initial public offering of its power assets, said a person with knowledge of the matter.

The IPO may take place in the first quarter of next year, said the person, who asked not to be identified as the process is private. 1MDB has spent about 10.8 billion ringgit ($3.5 billion) purchasing the electricity generation plants.

1MDB joins Malaysian companies including Malakoff Bhd. in planning IPOs after sales by Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd. and IHH Healthcare Bhd. rewarded investors with stock-market gains. Malaysia, whose economy unexpectedly accelerated in the most recent quarter, accounts for two of the world’s three largest IPOs this year, data compiled by Bloomberg show.

Proceeds will be used to repay debt, the person said. 1MDB, which is developing an $8 billion financial district in Kuala Lumpur, has total debt of 20.7 billion ringgit, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Malakoff, Malaysia’s largest independent power producer, is planning a share sale that may raise about $1 billion, people with knowledge of the matter said in June. Palm-oil planter Felda Global and IHH Healthcare, Asia’s largest hospital operator, have both advanced 11 percent from their offer prices.

1MDB agreed in March to buy billionaire T. Ananda Krishnan’s power assets for 8.5 billion ringgit. This week, 1MDB agreed to purchase Genting Bhd. (GENT)’s domestic power generation business for 2.3 billion ringgit. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS), which advised 1MDB on both deals, is also likely to be hired for the IPO, the person said.

Shahrol Halmi, 1MDB’s chief executive officer, didn’t immediately respond to a phone call seeking comment. Energy is one of the group’s core areas of focus, he said in a statement on March 7, when it announced the acquisition of Ananda Krishnan’s power plants.

~bloomberg

IGB REIT offers 670m units in RM838m IPO

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 – Malaysia’s IGB Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) will offer up to 670 million units in an initial public offering (IPO) that could fetch as much as RM838 million. The flotation, expected to debut on Sept. 19, is the fourth largest initial public offer (IPO) in the Southeast Asian country this year after the planned listing of Astro All Asia Network Plc.

The IPO will provide the country’s largest REIT by asset value with more financial muscle to buy real estate in the future. The IPO comprises 469 million units for sale to institutional and selected investors and another 201 million units to eligible directors, employees and the public, according to the draft prospectus of the offer filed yesterday. The retail portion is priced at an indicative price of RM1.25 per share while the institutional price will be determined on Sept 4, after the bookbuilding ends. The bookbuilding process will start on Aug. 28, according to the prospectus. Based on the retail price of RM1.25 per share, post-IPO IGB Reit would have a market capitalisation of RM4.25 billion, the largest in Malaysia ahead of Pavilion Real Estate Investment Trust. IGB REIT, a unit of Malaysian property firm IGB Corp Bhd , has hired CIMB Investment Bank and Hong Leong Investment Bank as the joint principal advisers and joint managing underwriters for the IPO.
