Installing SAP GUI 7.2 on a Mac

This article has earlier establish on my website here: 'Installing SAP on a MAC

Many of you were asking me whether we can install SAP and access the SAP from a Mac. I have been looking around for a while and finally found a working method for Mac. Apparently SAP on Mac is using Java, so you need to install and have the latest Java on your Mac. Well, here are the steps:

Installation

1. Install SAP GUI Software. Download SAP for Mac (Java) here.

2. Once you’ve downloaded it, move the ‘SAP Client’ folder in download folder into Application Folder.3. Now, open that SAP Client Folder. You’ll now see two folders as per screenshot below. Select the second folder and double-click the SAP Icon.

3. Once you click the SAP Icon, the dialog will appear. Proceed to download and install it.

4. Once the installation completed, re-click the SAP Icon and now, the SAP GUI is now officially installed on your Mac. Feel free to drag it the icon menu bar as favorite apps.

Setting-up SAP

1. First of all, make sure you have installed the Cisco AnyConnect software on your Mac. This will ensure the SAP to be able to connect the your workplace virtual network later. Download Here

2. Now, go back to your SAP on your Office’s PC/ Laptop. Select any SAP Module that you usually perform and right-click at the selection. Select properties.

3. Now, you’ll see System Entry Properties. Now. This is important. Jot down the address of ‘Message Server’.

4. Once you’re done with step 3, go back to you Mac Computer and open up SAP. You’ll now see this dialog box. Click on the red circled icon.

5. It will ask you to fill in the details for the new connection. Select the ‘advanced’ tab.

6. Tick the “expert mode”.

7. Remember I asked you to jot down the address in step 3, this is where you’ll need it. Fill in the details as below:

Description: You can type anything here, but usually related the module you’re using.

Expert mode: Type this – conn/H/(the server address from step 3)/S/3200.

8. Now click save.

9. Connect to Cisco AnyConnect if you’re using your own internet connection. If you’re connected to LAN or Wifi at your workplace, you don’t need to connect to Cisco AnyConnect.

10. Once done, click the Module shortcut that you have created, enter your username and password.

11. You’re now good to go. Happy Trying.
