ATM Vs Debit Card

I'm 18 and plan to make my a card soon as I'm going off to study.

It seems that charges for both cards is the same. The annual fee, MEPS n blah blah blah.

So isn't a Debit Card better? I dont have to carry cash around and some places they offer discounts.

Please advice me further whether there's any negative side to using a Debit Card or are there any hidden charges I'm not aware of.

Studying in Singapore

I am a SPM leaver looking into studying in Singapore. Maybe trying for Diploma in Polytechnics. Are there any scholarships that i can apply for? I want to study Computer Engineering but any other IT related field will do too.

After studying my Diploma can i credit transfer to a degree? If yes how many years do i have to study my Degree?

Will i have a higher chance in entering local U like NUS/NTU if i study Diploma in Singapore compared to taking my pre-U like STPM/ A-Level/SAM in Malaysia?

If i take a grant for my Diploma and plan to credit transfer for a Degree. Do i have to serve the bond 1st or can i do it later? Also if i take a grant again for my Degree would i have to serve another 3 years which will total up to 6 years of bond or just 3 years will do?

And as a Malaysian Citizen how do i gain entrance? Also what and how to apply for scholarships.

I've heard of my some friends getting scholarship for entrance to Anderson Junior College. But after checking the website it states that it's only for Singapore Citizens or PRs. So how did they obtain the scholarship.

[addedon]January 15, 2012, 3:14 pm[/addedon]Anybody??

Question on Cleaning Bicycle

I've sprayed WD-40 on my bicycle at most of the moving parts like the gears, chain, wheel bearings and pedal bearings. But i just read somewhere that WD-40 is not suitable to be used as a lube especially at bearings because it is a thin lube. The chain and gears are easy to re-lube but how do i undo this mistake at the wheel bearings and pedal bearing? And what lube is suitable? I heard engine oil isnt suitable as this attracts dirt easily.

*1st time cleaning my gears after realising it picks up dirt easily.

P.S. I only sprayed the outer part of the wheel without disassembling it. Will it affect much?

Computer Science(CS) Vs. Computer Engineering(CEG)

What are the difference in this 2 courses? I read through some articles and still don't fully understand the difference between CS n CEG. Hoping that you guys out there may explain to me further.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Short answer: CEG is suitable for those who wish to work at the interface between hardware and software. CS is suitable for those who wish to use IT as a problem solving tool in almost any industry.

Long answer:

The Bachelor of Computing (Honours) in Computer Science or BComp (CS) programme aims to nurture students for a rewarding computing career in various industry sectors. Suitable for those who love hands-on work and keen to apply computing technologies to solve real-world problems, the programme will equip students with the critical knowledge and capacity to take on the world with confidence in almost any industry.

The CEG programme aims to produce graduates with a good foundation to work in the critical layer of technology that interfaces hardware with software. In particular, graduates will be able to attain significant knowledge and abilities in key technologies for real-time embedded systems, computer networking & wireless communication systems, medical imaging & information systems, intelligent control systems, and many others. In the workplace, computer engineers span a wide range of skills: Eg: developing MP3 players and headphones, creating novel security/cryptographic systems for protecting images, music, etc.

Hi all,

I am thinking of doing the AUSMAT as my pre-u. I just want some feedback to you seniors of this programme. How is this programme? Is it stressful and fighting for time? Are the subjects easy to cope with?

Thanks
