WiFi Signal Dropping Randomly

First of all, I would like to know if the radio transmitter on wireless routers will degrade overtime?
According to the firmware date of my model - TD-W8960N v3, the latest firmware was back in late 2011.
With that said, my router will easily be 4 years old now.

I did not have any problem with my WiFi signals in the past, only noticing this a few days ago.
I know how to tune/change my WiFi channels and stuff and have been great since I last optimized my WiFi channel in my home.
This router is connected to ZTE TM provided high-rise building presumably VDSL modem with IPTV and cordless phones all in use.

I've been thinking of upgrading to Wireless AC router but I didn't want to spend unnecessary bucks.
Now that it has come to this, I'm thinking of upgrading now but if this is still fixable, I would prefer to fix this first and worry about the upgrade later.
AC routers are still quite pricey right now.

If anyone has great experience with a particular Full UniFi capable (with IPTV VLAN tagging) wireless AC router, please share this with me.
Currently looking at TP Link Archer C2/C7 and Asus RT AC66U/AC68U.

DSL Light Blinks and Stays Off

ISP/package: UniFi 10Mbps
Location: KL
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: Yes, they say they'll send a technician over to check. Which will incur cost if the problem source isn't with them.

Personal equipment
Modem: ZTE ZXDSL 931DII
Router: TP-Link W8960N
Firewall used: None

Problem details
First occurence of problem: Around 2pm yesterday, an unexpected power outage occurred. Power came back around 2-3 hours later. As with the Internet, the DSL light on my modem blinks once in a while for a few seconds and go back off up until now.

Problem frequency: Every time since the power was restored.

Problem description: None of the service is working. Not IPTV and not VOIP. All the devices are getting power as usual. I can even login to the ZTE modem's settings page but it's best to not touch anything on the modem's side, no?

I thought it was a problem with router outside my home, for my building or area that's having a problem but they're sending technician over to check at my premise instead.

Anyone experienced this before? And what do you think about this issue here?

Internet back online asap is the only thing I hope for.

Static Noise After Upgrading Graphics Card

Beyerdynamic DT-990 PRO 250 Ohms
Corsair 650W PSU (Not sure which model)

Graphics card before upgrade
Sapphire HD 7850

Graphics card after upgrade
Asus R9 280X DirectCU II TOP

The headphones performs well with onboard audio but it doesn't work at all after upgrading the graphics card.
Only noise can be heard from the headphones.

The headphones still works fine and even an iPhone can drive the headphones just fine.
The back port was better than the front port before upgrading and it's the other way around after upgrading.

What is happening here and what I can do to fix this problem?

PC does not start all of a sudden

SEE UPDATE

Hi,

I couldn't turn on my PC when I wake up today. Tried troubleshooting following these steps:

Switch off the power switch on PSU, wait for like 10 seconds before attempting to power on the system again. This time with my side panel off so I can see the inside. When I press the power button on my case after switch my PSU power back on, my case fan spins for a split second and stops again.
Completely unplugged my sound card, test again. Same result.
Completely unplugged my graphics card, test again. Same result.
Unplugged all power cable to all my drives (SSD, ODD, HDD), test again. Same result.
Unplug everything from the PSU, jump start PSU, fan spinning normally.
Plug back 24 pin and 4 pin CPU ONLY, still same result. Case fan spins for split second and stops.

Possible motherboard failure is what I think. What do you think?

Burnt Modem Power Adapter

Just got back from a trip and my modem's power adapter burnt when I tried to power it on.
I know it's burnt because there was a spark there and it couldn't power anything, including other devices.

Tried to use a different power adapter (same voltage, 0.5 difference in Amp), it powers up and working fine.
I then find another power adapter to try to power it because the other power adapter I used to test if the modem is still working is my router's power adapter.
I used another router's power adapter with different voltage rating (5V - 2.5A), it powers up but it's not working.

So, I used my router's power adapter to power my VDSL modem and replaced my router with my spare router.
What do you guys think I should do?

Go get a new power adapter to replace?
Hmm... Maybe I should contact TM and see what they have to offer?

Dell Monitor Warranty

I bought my monitor from lingloong here on LYN and CoD-ed with him.
How can I claim my warranty for this monitor?

Weird problem I have here.

Left side of my monitor appears purple-ish after blinked 1 second few hours ago when I use my PC as usual.

It seems like the image that was there was implanted when the screen blinked. No idea why it blinked.

Hi guys & gals,

I'm using Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset and am thinking whether I should buy a sound card or not.

My motherboard is Gigabyte H67M-D2-B3 with on-board Realtek ALC888B codec.

So far, I've used up 1 PCIe x16 on my motherboard and now left with 1 PCIe x16 slot and 1 x1 slot.
This'll help if you want to recommend me some sound card.

I use it for gaming, music, movies and occasionally some recording (personal).
Quite thrilled with awesome sound experience but don't know whether is it worth it to get a sound card when compared to Realtek ALC888B while considering the extra money I have to spend.

Hope someone who is experienced in this can help clear things up.

Stereo Mix not working.

My Stereo Mix is enabled and levels are all checked. However it's not picking up anything.
However, I'm using Creative Fatal1ty HS-1000 as my main output device.

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-H67M-D2-B3
Proc: Intel Core i5 2500
OS: Win7 64 bit
RAM: Corsair 2x2GB
GC: Sapphire HD 6850
PSU: 550W
Output Device: Creative Fatal1ty HS-1000 Headset

Azalia Codec [Auto] in BIOS settings (Only Auto and Disabled are available options)
Tried downloading Realtek driver from both Gigabyte and Realtek website, did all the installing and restarting things. It didn't work.

Creative Fatal1ty HS-1000 Problem

Hey everyone,

I just got myself a Creative Fatal1ty HS-1000 USB Headset, it has been perfect so far.
Everything is working as it should except 1 thing - volume controller on my PC.
Yes, I mentioned it's on my PC because I tried it on another PC and it worked.

Please note that this is a USB headset and the volume controller is button-based.

I tried reinstalling drivers and the software but it doesn't work.
While on the other pc, I never installed anything before plugging it in, just normal plug & play on Windows 7 and it worked.
Just tested the volume controller though, never tried other X-Fi settings.

I've also contacted Creative support, after I explained this to them, they asked me to ask for an exchange?
It's not like this unit is defective, is it?

Anyone here know how to get this solved?

Frequent Disconnection

This problem is kinda weird because I can use the Internet at full speed no problem when I first connect to the network.
Full speed possible, no lag and no issue.

However, after some time, I seems like got disconnected from the WiFi but I'm still connected.
I can tell I'm disconnected because I cannot ping my gateway (192.168.0.1) while another device can ping it.

So, I turn off my wireless and turn it back on. And it's back normal again.
I wonder why is this happening?
It happens randomly, sometimes few minutes after, sometimes an hour but it's usually quite frequent.
I have to keep disabling and re-enable my wireless to "reconnect" to the internet.

Using UniFi and their setup, no customization.

Home Network Traffic Shaping

Anyone know how to do this on a typical LAN Network? Shape the traffic to evenly distribute Internet's bandwidth throughout the local network to avoid high latency and stuff like that.

I want to know any method you can think of. Modem configuration, software etc.

Hi,

I'm planning to buy a new modem because most of my friend who subscribe after me get WiFi Modem which can setup wireless network with the modem itself.

My package is without modem.
However during the promotion, there is a free modem even though you subscribe to without modem package.

Please let me know which brand are you most happy with and what price range of modem is sufficient for home use.

Preferably more than 1 LAN port (4) which support Streamyx of course.
G or N doesn't matter. So does the speed.
If you think it's better to get either one, let me hear your reason.

One more thing though, is it really necessary to refer to Streamyx's certified modem list?

Unable to Boot Up

Something really bad happened.

I've checked my mobo and I don't see any leaking capacitors.
Now, I can't boot the machine at all.

I tried removing all hdd and optical drives, leaving cpu, ram and graphic card and still can't boot it up.
Also tried with another PSU and replaced the current GC to try.

Still not getting anything.

One thing to note though... There usually are 2 LED lights at the front - System Power LED and HDD LED. System Power LED wasn't responding at all. There is nothing going on with System power but HDD is lit all the time although there isn't any HDD connected.

Is it my mobo causing the problem?

Unknown Problem

This is a new problem I ever encountered. It just happen all of the sudden.

While I'm using my pc, suddenly it get turned off. No BSOD, no nothing. Just turned off. It's like blackout but the

light is still on and modem is still on of course!

After this happened, I can hardly get my pc turned on again.
I pressed on the power on button and there's usual sound going on inside and fans are spinning but it's not booting up.
No beep, no nothing. Fans spinning just like that for nothing.

But, it doesn't stay forever like that. After a while, it's back again.
Then it suddenly got turned off again. Sometimes it can run without any problem for quite some time.

I tried ensuring all the cables are properly installed and it's still happening.
What I suspect is there's problem with power supply.

Will be happy if anyone here experienced this or have some comment on this.

BTW, here's my pc's specs.

AMD Athlon II X2 245
SAPPHIRE ATi Radeon HD4670
Gigabyte PSU 550W
ASUS M2N68-AM PLUS MOBO
2+1GB DDR2 RAM (Corsair) [1 gaming + 1 value]
120GB (Maxtor) + 320GB (WD) HDD

Don't bother telling me it's the temperature. I've checked and it's running at around 32C(CPU) & 44C(GPU).

I think event viewer generated an entry when this happened.

Is there any way to assign a policy for Microsoft Management Console?
I need to assign a specific created policy by background programs at a specific time.
All will be hardcoded, no GUI or anything.

All snap-in will be created using MMC itself. I just need to code the part where the assignment of the policy.
Or is this not possible?

How To Get Massive Amounts Of Cheap Traffic on PPC

This is an info that is very valuable that I could simply write an eBook and start selling it to the public for at least $27 a piece.
But for LYN members, I'm sharing this to all of you for free.
Because advertising on AdWords needs money and I don't want you to "give away" money to Google anymore.
Keep the $27 and invest in your advertising.

What is AdWords

When you search for a term, for example in the screenshot, "business cards cds".
You will see there's ads showing up at the top and the side. The sponsored links are Adwords.

Advertisers can pay Google, and tell Google when someone types in "business cards cds" in Google, I want my ad to be shown at the top or the side.
And then, when someone clicks on the site, advertisers pay Google and somebody will go to the advertiser's website.

Advertisers bid on keywords that will trigger their ad to show.
You only need to pay when someone clicks on the ad. That's PPC (Pay-Per-Click).
But there's also another options that you pay when the ad shows. That's by impression.
I'll leave that as the focus is not on that.

Search Network vs. Content Network

Search network is when someone type keywords in Google, the ad shows up on the top and the side.
Content network is website owners who allow Google to place ads on the page (Adsense).

Content network is the ad shows up at other people's website.
In content network, there's an option to choose text ads and banner ads.

The Method (Content Network Based)

Yes. The method I'm going to put up here will be focusing on Content Network.
The ad inventory is huge and in fact is not enough ads available.

On Google (Search Network), the ad inventory is not sufficient.
There's many competitors and your site might not show up at all.

I've heard a lot of people says that the content network doesn't convert.

I just feel weird why they are saying this. It does work and this post will show you how.

The Formula

Targeted Keyword Research & Analysis + Lots of keyword targeted Ads + Keyword targeted banner ads = MASSIVE CHEAP TRAFFIC

How To Do It

Targeted Keyword Research & Analysis
Use Google Keyword Tool

Based on your topic, enter your keyword and get your keyword ideas.
For example, "business cards cds".

Then it will show up a list of keywords. You can just add the keywords which you see it's relevant.
What you need to pay attention to is the Global Monthly Search Volume.

The next thing you want to do is, put back the first keyword that are shown by Google Keyword Tool back and get keyword ideas again.

After you've added all of them. You want to make sure there's no "rubbish" keyword that is not relevant to what you're advertising.
You must filter your keywords to prevent losing money on irrelevant keywords.

Then you can Download the keyword list in Text of CSV(Excel) for your use.
- You want to have a MASSIVE keyword list. (1000 - 5000 per main topic)
- Two levels deep on all major first level keywords.
- 1-4 words combination. (Not more than 4)
- Remember, you NEED to filter your keywords and make sure they are related and on topic.
How much is "Lots"?
- 1 Ad group for each keyword.
- 1-2 ads per keyword.
For example:
- 1 Keyword Per Adgroup
- 200 Adgroups Per Campaign
- 25 Campaigns Per Account
- Result: 5000 keywords per account
If, you need "mutiple" accounts, visit Adwords My Client Center.
MUST be Keyword Rich
Your keyword should be in your ad 1-3 times for text ads

I've just setup a new site (blog).

Did a lot of social bookmarking and putting up backlinks in social media sites such as squidoo and hubpages.
Tweeted about it on Twitter...

I believe with these, it should be indexed anytime soon.
But it's already been 2-3 days and it's yet to be indexed.

Do anyone here have any idea how long do Google take to index a new site?
