Anyone got tested privately?

Just want to know if anyone got tested privately by doctors on-site at your house like the program offered by BP Labs/Doctor2u/Qualitas? How long does it take to get the report?

I am a little concerned as my intermittent fever is on the 6th day now, same for mild sore throat. Aside from that, no other symptoms.

Consulted doctors representing KKM on their online portal, was told the risk of contracting is low (no travel history, no contact with confirmed patient). If I really want to test is get it done privately which is RM700 *ouch*. They only test those with travel history or had contact with confirmed cases atm.

Just want to know more about the experience from others taken the private PCR test. A Malaysian motor journalist got himself tested too, but ended up paying RM1.2k (RM700 testing, RM300 report, RM200 transportation). To me, that's quite a lot to pay for a test (I know the doctor/personnel performing the sample collection is exposed to risk of contacting the virus).

Contemplating if I should just visit a clinic, but not many of them are open now.

So please share your experience. Thanks.

Update:-
-Drive Thru sampling for PCR test at Thomson Hospital, priced at RM580. User shared experience refer post #35, #64
LINK

-Rapid test kit not recommended by MOH, PCR test is more accurate at detecting the coronavirus at early stages.
LINK

Personal update on my condition:-
Been using Betadine throat spray for 2 days, the sore throat is pretty much gone, fever subsiding. Still no additional symptoms, could be just a strep throat.

Need advice for Accounting internship

Hi guys, I need some advice choosing a good company for internship in the coming semester. (I'm sorry if this has been discussed as a topic before but I couldn't find similar topic).

I am a local U student (Utxx), and pursuing the 4-year accountancy degree program. My 3rd year just commenced and I will have to start looking for companies to apply for internship for the next 6months~ish after this semester. Like the topic, my grades are really mediocre, CGPA of 2.8 at the end of 2nd year and not very active in co-curricular activities.

At this point, I basically gave up any hope for big4, not even qualified. However I do not want to have my internship done at really small firms, even my academic advisor told me it is not advisable as it may affect my cv in the future. So medium~large firms? I'm a little lost on that.

Furthermore, my close group of friends aren't really ambitious either and they just want to find firms that are closer to home for convenience without much consideration on other aspects. So that made me even "more lost".

Any suggestion for good companies that accept interns with mediocre result? Any other additional suggestions are welcomed too.

Buying a phone through Maxis online?

How safe is the delivery of the device and what courier they use? Any insurance?

Looking to get a device with Maxis but the specific model that I want is out of stock anywhere in Seremban, oos on their website too. The closest branch that has it is in Port Dickson

I talked to the Maxis CS via live chat last night, the CS told me usually the branch won’t restock a specific model. So it’s either get in the store that has it, or the CS can help me arrange to place order and I will just pay for it through online payment like paying bills. Will deliver in 2-6weeks

Is it legit though? Anyone tried this method before?

Old Mercedes repair experience

This is just to share my experience of getting my long overdue brake problem solved.

I've had this 92' W124 E220 for quite some time now, it was passed to me from my parents. I can't remember when was the last time my brakes was nice and firm and it just got worse from there and to a point where I had to depress the brake really really low to get it engaged and start slowing down, which isn't the most fun experience during emergency brake and stop-go traffic.

I've started searching around for parts with the brand that I want and which shop carries them. It wasn't a very straight forward process as there are many shops around that specialise in repairing continental vehicles. I came across a few shops like Euro Auto parts (saw they carry Zimmermann ), Stuttgart parts(parts shop only) and German motors. Sent them messages to get a quote and surprising they all replied pretty quick with proper quotes, I saw that German Motors seems to be really expert, however their prices including labour quickly reaches a grand for only the front disc+pads+brake fluid change+some misc parts. It was a little intimidating for me coz at this point, I still don't know what's wrong with my car and if they started diagnosing and quoting more and more stuff, it will swallow my bank balance pretty quickly. (by no means doubting their service, just a little on the premium side imo)

With about a grand, Euro Auto Parts quoted me for entire set of Bosch disc+pads+labour which is a pretty darn good deal, but the cheapskate in me saw that Stuttgart had Hella Pagid for cheaper so I sort of decided to get my parts from Stuttgart parts and get them installed by Euro Auto Parts. But, I started digging up forums to look for brake problem symptoms and some of them suggested/reflected that it could have been a failed/tired master cylinder in my car which got my heart rate racing because that sounds expensive and really is an expensive part on these continental cars. Still, I'm no mechanic so I couldn't confirm if it was the case.

Got some free time today, brought my car to Euro Auto parts to get diagnosed. They are located in Surian Industrial park opposite to a Peugeot dealer which is very easy to find, just use Waze and I got there easily. First impression of pulling into their garage was weird, coz my car was the oldest, cheapest and shittiest amongst all the continental cars over there, 5er, 3er, E class, C class and more. The worst for me was it was a new place to me, I've only spoke to one of the handling person there (Alwyn) before I reach and most of the staff doesn't even know why I was there. But chief mechanic was quick to approach me and apparently Alwyn communicated with him briefly already.

After talking to them about the issues I was having, they suggested to try with a full brake fluid flush first to see if it works. Initially there was a little back and forth of diagnosing what needs to be changed and what not (all my disc were probably worn beyond the min thickness), but it settled down quickly as I told Wayne(another person in charge) I wanted the cost effective way and instead of straight buying into parts. I understand why they strongly suggested some of the repairs because brakes are no joke, it's a matter of life and death and shouldn't be neglected, I take that as part of their professional advice because the reasoning does click with my brain. But I was still trying to be cheapskate and eagerly to just know how bad my brake system was and how much I should be expecting to pay, so I held off taking their Bosch parts and only requested a brake fluid change first to see the results.

They had some cars to work on and staff were limited so it took a little longer than usual to get them started working on my car, but hey, I didn't get a proper appointment with them and just called Alwyn before I went there, so the fact that they moved so many cars to get my car on the jack for diagnosis is really something else. After the brake fluid flush, Alwyn told me to get in the car and depress the pedal to see if it makes any difference, but it was hard to tell at that point. Shortly after that the chief mechanic (Two I think) came back and went out to test my car, to him it was pretty good and I almost couldn't believe it, but he reassured me my master and booster are fine. I was a little sceptical about that and I went out testing it on my way to get the parts from Stuttgart parts. Kid you not, the pedals are firm just half way instead of really low pedal and the feeling of the brakes pads are just gliding and not stopping. At this point, I was saying to myself, what the heck I know compared to an experienced mechanic.

Long story short, got my discs, 2 Hella paid fronts, 2 Genuine Mercedes rears (they all told me it's sort of a miracle to find genuine Mercedes parts for a 24 y/o car), talked to Wayne to get full set Textar pads front and back, and also a set of parking brake shoe. It was 4pm at this point when I got back to their shop and it was raining cats and dogs. The fronts went on no problem, but they had issue mounting the brake shoe set, which they later found out it will not fit without modification but the part number corresponds to what they have in their system, which shows that how parts number don't guarantee things will fit 100% first try.

At this point, it is 5.30pm and they are closing at 6.30pm, few phone calls back to their supplier and they (supplier) got confused too, and apparently there might be actually few revisions of it and mine happen to be earlier models and possible use a different part. Shortly after, one of the mechanic also found out the genuine Mercedes rear disc is lacking one hole for the brake shoe adjustment, which to them is not okay, it will fit and work I think after fiddling with it, but they advised me to return it. After talking to Stuttgart and sending them pics, they too got confused because it was the same exact part number in their EPC system and the picture of OEM replacement parts do have that extra hole too. Kenneth from Stuttgart was kind to enough to let me return it for a refund because they didn't know such anomaly exist too (another example of part number doesn't guarantee 100% identical parts).

The solution they came up with was temporary putting the old brakes back (it's drivable) and wait until the new parts to arrive tomorrow, however I'm not free for the next 2 days and will only be able to get back to them on Thursday, so Thursday it is.

It was a fun experience, at least, albeit a little expensive (I'm really a cheapskate). Because I can feel that the people around are really friendly, despite being extremely busy and tired, they still smile and chit chat with me. Answers my bullshit theory of what's wrong with the car and educate me with the right info. I don't blame them for not getting the job done at one go, because the EPC system is the single most reliable way yet to get the right part (I think, they use vin number), once in a blue moon that shit happens like on my car, they were also wasting time calling back and forth with suppliers to rectify the issue instead of taking on repairs on other cars that will probably generate more profit for them. (My car is relatively cheap to maintain compared to some example that Wayne told me, his R class rear electronic shocks were RM14k a pair at cost )

There're quite a few nice cars around for service, mostly are last get continental vehicles as their warranty expired, but they also do Japanese cars like Estima and etc, but specialising in European cars especially germans. Btw, there was this E60 M5 that I believe belongs to Wayne and he told me that car was a nightmare to fix, let alone the cost of fixing it as the whole engine had been out before and tons of work had been done to make it run again (truly the infamous generation of unreliable BMWs)

Overall I am quite amazed by them because they weren't being pushy of selling stuff, they could have straight tell me the master was bad and needs to replace together with the booster (this combo alone will be 1k++ iinm), they could have pushed me to buy the Zimmermann coated disc that needs to be backordered or simply tell me unnecessary things that needs to be replaced. They didn't, they just gave their professional advice to ensure my safety (and other road user's safety ) and most of the suggestions are really just the "essential" things.

The job isn't done yet, I will see how it goes on Thursday and report back after it. (I guess I could have saved a ton of time and energy to just buy all the parts from them with a small premium )

Land sinking? What should I do?

Recently I've discovered more and more tiny cracks around the interior of my house and it genuinely concerns me.

My house is a corner lot double storey terrace (in Seremban), with a small compound and beside my house is a "main road" (consider main road in my taman).

I have a small drain at the back of my house like most people do but it leads to a bigger "pool" few feet after it clears my house (main body of the house) and leads to a bigger drain under the road to a much bigger drain across the road.

It happened a couple times that the road beside my house is sinking, like part of it will sink, and the authorities have fixed it a couple times (2-3 major fix iirc) throughout the 15 years (or longer, I can't remember) I've been staying here.

Most of the time they will just patch the sinking part (road above the drain) with more tarmac and leave it, I don't consider this a proper fix la. By fix I mean they dig up the ground and fix some pipes underneath. (They've dug up the drain part and rebuilt it once some 10 years ago, I used to cycle a lot during my primary school days so I see what they did). Another time is just right beside my house, I believe there's a very big water pipe underneath that supplies water to some other part of the taman. There was once a few years back (probably >5 years) that they used a few days just to fix the leak. (This part of the road doesn't show any signs of sinking yet).

Few months ago, they patched that road above the drain again. But it didn't last long as we can see and feel the sink when driving over it now.

I'm just really worried that it will compromise the structure of my house and danger my family especially my parents.

Which department should I complain it to? JKR? Majlis Perbandaran? What should I do to make sure they acknowledge the land is actually sinking and do something quick?

No bass, who said so. If you're a bass head this is not for you(SE846 that bass tho). Expensive, I bought new even more expensive, check Jaben price now, and you'll see this is a good deal with free case.

If you're into aftermarket cable, I have some eidolic MMCX connector that I haven't use TO SELL, just arrived not long ago. I can recommend you a forumer to solder it, but cables I have one OCC braided not soldered, and one SPC not braided, both the cables are bought from Btg-audio. Or ask him to find cable for you.

I know I will regret selling it someday, because my RE-400 can never come any close. The soundstage, immersion, vocals, isolation. I will miss this IEM.

---

Item(s) conditions: Very good, fully functioning and never use outdoor or exercise with.

Picture:

Reason for sale: Priority in hobbies changed.

It used to be have a working set, with equaliser and else. After just 4 years of use, 1 lightning strike almost spoiled everything, those electronics all got toasted, including those thick copper wires, the wire insulation actually melted. Brought the whole thing to check at the store, the shopkeeper tested it ans said the speakers are not damaged, just those electronics stuff only, ever since, my dad just put it at a corner and sort of forget abt it. So now i wanna try to revive it and my dad agreed. But, I know almost ntg abt those stuff and my dad's knowledge is sort of outdated..

If you guys can recommend me a good set of "electronics" stuff to fire it up, I will appreciate it a lot..
