What do you learn from stock market?

What do you learn from stock market?

From the recent KLCI plunging from record high, stocks price suffered more than we expected. I got my finger burned, but this is a good lesson for me. Not to say how much I lose, but the lesson from this experience is far more important, since I have a long way to go in my life yet.

1. Buy stocks to hold for months, years but not days. Don't expect you could earn quick money from contra, unless the price is very attractive to let go.

2. Don't be greedy. When you see the price keep increasing , don't go after it, you might buy at higher price because you already missed the chance at the beginning.

3. Do homework for the stocks that you want to buy. We cannot simply buy anything that people are buying, who you want to listen to? It is better to study the fundamental of the stocks.

4. Grab or sell in seconds, OR leave it alone . After you study about the stocks and bullish about it, but the price is high than you expect, grab it if the difference is less than 1%, need to trust your instinct. When you want to sell, sell it immediately if you think the market is going another way.

5. Decision making. Make decision when you have all the requirements to do so. When you have a single doubt, just forget about it.

6. Emotion control. This can seriously affect your decision making and judgement. Jump out from the box and think about it again. Have a cold shower if necessary.

Hope to learn something from your experince. Thank you!

When will the local market collapse or recess?

Recently the global stock markets are hauntd by the subprime mortgage issue in US. Due to this, KLCI has been tumbling after the news spread. Is this going to be the beginning of the bearish local stock market? Or this is just some market correction?

When do you think the stock market will collapse or go into RECESSION?
Please specify the reasons if you have. Thank you.

Personally, I think it will slow down after the GE, because from history, stock market rise before GE and collapse after that.
 vs

(editted)

Tiffani by I-ZEN|Mont Kiara

What do you all think about the location and future prospect for Tiffani I-ZEN, Radiant type D, 815sq ft on Mont Kiara.
Is it a property that worth for investment? Unit will be ready in late 2009.

If I can get the unit at RM400k, which is way cheaper than currently offered price RM498k, the price increased earlier in 2007 from Rm450k. Do I have advantage for that? coz this is for investment purpose.

I need to pay 10% down payment around 40k. Legal fees and interest during construction period borne by developer. If I sell the unit within the construction period or within 5 years, I need to pay 2% of total loan amount to the bank. I only start paying back the loan when the unit is done at the end of 2009. What do you think?

Homepage: Tiffani I-ZEN

Thank you very much!

Stocks Investment Timeframe

Since local market started to bullish since last year, I would like to know your investment strategy for stocks, either blue chips, penny or growth stocks. For your investment timeframe, you would prefer....

1. short term investment, which means you set a shorter period between a few months to 1 year. You sell after you made some profit.

2. medium term investment, which mostly focus on the potential of the particular stock. Example, you bought construction stock that potentially can make extra profit after completing 2-3 years projects in the future.

3. long term/super long term investment, more than 5 years, maybe up to 20 years. Just like some may opt to put the money in high dividend yield/income and let it generate money for you.

Personally, I am going for short and medium term, maybe I am young, and a risk taker. . I believe economy is growing upwards with many cycles within it, so I choose to make some money from the cycles.

* You can also share about the reasons you prefer any of the above. Any advantage or disadvantage? Thank you!

Down payment to finance a new car...

(Assumed monthly income 2.2k)
1. Should I pay the minimum down payment required or maximize it?
2. Assumed the interest rate is 3%p.a., it is better settle the loan in shorter time or longer time? (Take inflation rate into the account.)
3. Is it wise to withdraw my unit trust investment to finance it? (Portfolio consists of equity, balanced & bond fund.)

Please share your opinion.
Single Pricing for Unit Trusts

Seems like the single pricing of the unit trusts is going to be announced soon. Only the NAV will pe posted in daily newspapers or websites, and the initial service charge will not be included in the price value. This means that when there is an investor wants to invest 10k, they need to pay RM600 more(assumed 6%) . Although it is the same case before single pricing, which the investment value is actually 9.4k (after -6% from 10k).

As an investor, will you become more focus on the initial service charge? and take more time to consider? or hesitate?
