Car loan early settlement discount is now law

Malaysia passes bill to end practice of charging full interest on early hire purchase loan settlements

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 8): The Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday approved the Hire Purchase (Amendment) Bill 2025, which abolishes the use of the flat rate and the Rule of 78 for fixed-rate hire-purchase loans.

The Rule of 78 calculates a loan’s total interest based on the original principal amount, which means borrowers do not enjoy any interest savings even if they settle their loans earlier than scheduled.

Under the amendment bill, the effective interest rate (EIR) and reducing balance method will replace the Rule of 78 to ensure greater transparency in loan calculations.

https://theedgemalaysia.com/node/773288?fbc...W1W1pzDl1UiRbaw

Aunties hack Maybank Rm1.7million , 30k fine
https://www.nst.com.my/news/crime-courts/20...nk-rm17mil-scam

KUALA LUMPUR: A smartphone, a simple tap, and a secret code.

That was all it took for a syndicate to cheat Maybank out of more than RM1.7 million in just two weeks.

The scam first came to light in June when one of Maybank's clients noticed strange transactions and alerted the bank.

The bank's Fraud Investigation Department began digging and what they found was a trick that turned modern payment technology into a "weapon".

The suspect, believed to be part of a larger syndicate, had synchronised a mobile phone with a foreign bank's credit card.

When tapping the phone against Maybank's Electronic Data Capture (EDC) terminals, transactions are sent for approval.

With this phone, however, the transactions made were not sent for normal approval.

Instead, the EDC terminals were forced into offline mode, making the payments look genuine when they were not.

Every purchase came with the same unusual approval code, VIP111.

It was this tiny detail that later unlocked the entire fraud.

Between May 31 and June 14, investigators uncovered 154 fake transactions at Maybank merchants.

By then, the bank had already lost more than RM1.7 million.
This was revealed in the statement of facts after two accused, Chong Yin Hong, 41, and Chong Li Shian, 38, pleaded guilty when they were jointly charged in the Sessions Court today.

Judge Suhaila Haron sentenced them to a fine of RM30,000 each, in default four months' jail, under Section 4(1)(a) of the Computer Crimes Act 1997 for unauthorised access with intent to commit fraud.

I have so many questions

1. Aunties hot? like doctor amoi?
2. How did the phone hack just by near field
3. Where did the money eventually go?
4.
Half a full week is religion study in Malaysia

https://www.therakyatpost.com/news/malaysia...analysis-shows/

ChatGPT analysis reveals that 46.67% of classroom time in government schools is dedicated to religious instruction for Muslim students.

[The discussion isn’t about what’s being taught – it’s about how much of the school day is dedicated to Islamic religious instruction, and what non-Muslim students do during those hours.

Samarasan clarified that this reflects the school calendar in the states of Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, where the school week runs from Sunday through Thursday due to local Islamic practices.

However, she emphasised a crucial point: This is a national syllabus set by the Ministry of Education, not specific to those states. Other schools in other states follow it too, but would start on Mondays.

This means the 46.67% figure isn’t unique to Malaysia’s more conservative northern states – it’s part of the standard national curriculum used across the country.

BINCANGKAN 10 MARKAH

Despite CPR efforts and an adrenaline injection, it could not be revived.

https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/...alive-in-tawau/
