Features

The case follows a simple yet effective three-layer design to achieve comprehensive protection. First, a solid interior foam layer of polycarbonate forms the case's skeletal system. For those of you who are wondering, polycarbonate (PC) is an ultra-tough, electrically resilient material often employed in industrial settings. Whereas the more common acrylic plastics and glass are prone to chip and shatter from the measliest of bumps and abrasions, polycarbonate is virtually indestructible, frequently employed in housing construction, the bulletproofing of windows, medical equipment, and the building of aircraft and military-grade weaponry. 1/3 lighter than acrylic and 1/6 lighter than glass, PC offers a twofold alternative to its weaker and heavier cousins, maximizing durability and minimizing bulk.

A second silicone rubber layer is then placed over the back of this polycarbonate shell, a tough skin to complement the hard bones within. Finally, a third layer with a built-in plastic screen protector is installed over the front to prevent scratches and smudges.

These three three layers provide the OtterBOX Rugged Defender Case with a nigh-unbreakable, impact-absorbing armor impervious to shocks, bumps, and drops. In addition, the case's rubber port covers (arranged around your iPhone 5's major slots, including the charging port, audio jack, and volume controls) keep your iPhone 5 dust- and debris-free.

The OtterBOX Rugged Defender Case comes packaged with a rotatable belt-clip holster that may also be utilized as a viewing stand. Swivel the iPhone 5 so its screen faces outward for speedy access, or turn it inwards for optimal protection.

Please note the OtterBOX iPhone 5 Defender Case is not resistant against water and cannot be used for iPhone 5c. It can be used for iphone 5s but the touch screen feature won't be enabled.
