Been using BlogSentral for a while now...

We can't edit our own themes, am I right? Cos I thought I read somewhere that the themes are still shared amongst everybody, and there isn't a database entry for each user for their themes.

Wondering when we'll be given the option to customise our own themes? Putting pics on the front page etc...

WarMachine and Hordes

Privateer Press is launching a NEW tabletop war game this Saturday, 22nd Apr.

PP is a relatively new game company, that has created the D20 Iron Kingdoms RPG game world, with several campaign books, world guides, monsternomicon already.

But their biggest seller is Warmachine. It's a tabletop wargame, similar, and dis-similar to Warhammer 40k.

The game takes place in the Iron Kingdoms, where there are 4 factions. You build an army based around a hero, the Warcaster, some infantries, some solo units, and a few freaking huge steam powered Warjacks. It's like Gundam, but it runs on coal, and is controlled by warcasters telepathically.

The minis are full metal. And beautiful. If you play M:TG, you might recognise the names of some of the guys that built the company: Brian Snoddy, Matt Wilson? The source books are beautifully illustrated, concept design of the units and jacks are great, and the sculpting are excellent.

The wargame is described as a squad combat. Unlike 40k, where you field an entire platoon composed of several 10-15men squads. In WM, you can see anywhere between 4 models (a full Warjack army) to 40 models (massive infantry and cannon fodder army) on the table. Fighting is balls-y, in your face action.

It's like playing chess, but you get to pick what pieces you want in your army.

This game has been brought into Malaysia for a few years already. It's frequently played at Wolf's Game Shop (AmCorp Mall, Taman Jaya), Gamer's Circle (where Games Castle was, near Atria), and a budding store Dakka Dakka Games in Jln Kristal, Shah Alam.

But what I'm shouting about today, is not Warmachine. It's HORDES!

This is a new game, with 4 new factions, with Warlocks controlling Warbeasts!

It is similar to WM in basic, movement, attacking etc... But different in how the beasts dish out the pain. This simple difference will drastically change how the game is played and how your strategy works.

AND, these 4 factions will still be compatible with WM too. So you'll see Monster vs Machine battles. Beast vs Borgs. Godzilla vs Gundam.

You can check out the website to take a look at some of the sweet models coming out.

What's happening now is that Wolf's Game Shop is getting the Unleashed Tournament Package, and will be launching this game at the same time as the rest of the world (well, actually, earlier than the US cos of timezone difference).

The shipment is on the way, and it looks like it'll arrive in time for this saturday and sunday's events at Amcorp Mall.

Here's your chance to get into this new game at the ground floor! (um... that's a metaphor. Wolf's GS is on the 2nd floor)...

Choose a faction. Buy a box. Super glue the pieces together. Paint them later at your leisure. Learn the quickstart rules. And play them in a tournament IMMEDIATELY.

Win prizes. Even a hardcover rule book!

Or just come see the action and get sucked into the world of the IRON KINGDOMS.

There'll be plenty of upcoming tournaments, and I'll be doing my darnedest to keep this game growing too. Come and make new friends!

The Hordes Starter Boxset will cost about RM200. Comes with 1 Warlock, and 3-5 Warbeasts. It's enough to start a game.

Play as:
Legion of Everblight
Corrupted dragonspawns. Very Zerg-like monsters. Fast. Powerful ranged attacks. And will be the first and only to have a flying warbeast.

Trollbloods
The protagonists of the story. Built tough. Versatile army.

Circle of Orboros
Druids. Werewolves. Elemental golems. Nasty nasty spells. Sneaky.

Skorne
An oriental-themed army of invaders. Very foreign-looking warbeasts like a 6-limbed elephant that walks on two legs, and basilisks that shoots out ray energies. Infantry wears samurai armours and wields katanas. The most unique looking army theme ever sculpted for wargaming.

Check out news at the WGS forum for Warmachine.
