Klinik Kesihatan Kelana Jaya

Hello fellow parents,

I am due to bring my little one for his jab at the KK Kelana Jaya. My first born, and my first time going there. I expect that there will be many people there on the same day, so I want to try and minimize the time trying to figure out the place.

1) Is there a convenient place / ample parking? Is it near/next to the KK?
2) Where do we go inside the building ? which counter etc to start the process?
3) Is there any place more private that my wife can sit /wait while she nurses the baby?
4) Any other things to take note of? Other than the pink book and his mykid, what other documents do I need to bring?

Car Porch Room - ACP vs. Zinc PU?

Hello Sifus.

I am looking to install a car porch, and have been checking around for quotes. Based on what I gathered, it seems like ACP (Aluminium Composite) is the cheaper option these days even when compared to polycarbonate, at least around Klang Valley.

There were a few things shared by those salesmen which I'm hoping to verify with experienced friends here.

1) ACP 4mm vs PC 3mm - definitely ACP is a better bet that it will last longer vs PC.
2) ACP can cut off heat better than PC (mainly due to cutting off sunlight).
3) Combining both ACP And polycarbonate is NOT recommended - high potential of leaks as they are different thickness and materials
4) ACP is actually now cheaper than PC (e.g. RM 2-3 cheaper per sq feet).

Other than the above however, one of the salesmen revealed that there is also something called the Zinc PU. Quoted at the same price as ACP, he told me this is like a much enhanced version of the old-school zinc awnings. Basically they sandwich a PU Foam in-between two zinc pieces, and that practically can outlast any other materials other than maybe glass. However it is not preferred simply because it's just very 'old style'. Plus, the edge needs to be covered up to make things look 'nicer'.

Is anyone aware about this material? If you have heard about it or are (or decided against) using it, could you also please share your experience with it? E.g. noisy when raining, really a viable alternative etc. It would help give me better understanding about the trade-offs for each.

Thank you.

Honor Magicbook 14 AMD

Hi all,

I saw that Honor just launched their updated Magicbook range with the latest AMD 5000 series.

Question - based on the spec and price, is it worth going for the Honor model as opposed to Dell Inspiron 14? They seem to be of comparable price, for the 8GB Ram + 512GB SSD HD. The difference that I could glean from the specs is mainly from Honor having WIFI 6 (Dell doesn't); whereas Dell has preinstalled Windows for Home & Student 2021 (Honor only has the 30-day trial version).

Both look very thin and slim, and they both have 2-year warranty.

2nd hand ASUS ROG ZEPHYRUS G14

Hi sifus,
I am thinking of getting a 2nd-hand Asus ROG laptop to play a bit. I saw this model on Shopee recently - ASUS ROG ZEPHYRUS G14 GA401II-R75TA8G; but googling a bit showed that this is an Indonesian model.

The specs seem legit, however it also mentions that it still has 1-year warranty from Asus - even if it's from Indon it should cover MY given that most are international warranty I hope, but does anyone if it's possible to change the names in the warranty if the laptop has changed hands? If it's really an Indon model, might need to change the power adapter to MY version (not sure how much it costs)?

Think it's worth it?

Where can I upgrade my RAM or HDD?

Hi,
I am thinking of getting a Dell Inspiron 14 online. However the models these days are not customisable. I am keen to upgrade my RAM from 8-> 16GB, and/or for the SSD to become 1TB.

Other than the Dell stores, any other good recommended 3rd party who can do that kind of upgrade around Digital Mall preferably? Also does anyone know how much will these upgrades cost me?

Looking for good and reliable gardening services

Hi all,

I am looking to change/update my garden, and am looking for good + reliable (and hopefully value for money) landscapists or gardening service providers. I can get the necessary grass, but will most probably need help to take out all the old grass, and plants.

I am not looking to build any super-expensive or super-beautiful japanese garden, just want to have a good and decent setup that hopefully will be relatively low maintenance.

Am also considering whether to put in artificial grass as opposed to Philippine grass as my family and I just can't keep up with the un-weeding work. But looking forward to anyone here who can share their experience of having artificial grass vs. normal grass.

Gypsum Board (Drywall) vs. Plaster

Dear SiFus,
Am currently doing my renovation, and was talking to my contractor yesterday when he recommended the using of Gypsum board as a good alternative vs. plaster for my ceiling. Slightly more expensive per sqft total, but supposedly more environmental friendly.
Anybody has tried using Gypsum boards for ceilings? or any thoughts/comments/ recommendations regarding that it's better than plaster?
