[WTA] Rumors about PSP 2000 & PSP 3000

To the PSP Pros out there, forgive me if this has been asked a lot of times,
but I heard from a friend that PSP 3000s DO NOT resume the games we were currently playing
(e.g at the specific place where we last left off even without saving) when the power is turned off / battery finished suddenly?

I've read the PSP FAQ and guides that was posted, (and they were super HELPFUL)
but I didn't found any topics related to this, (or maybe I just didn't know the terms to search at the LYN search)
but do help me out because I really want to get my girlfriend a PSP this Christmas.

To those who'd reply this, I thank you so much for your assistance.

P/S: My girlfriend currently studies in the USA and I'm planning to buy the PSP through online sites (Amazon,eBay)
but prices of PSP3000 are WAY cheaper than PSP2000(e.g PSP3000 is like, $99.99 and PSP2000 is around $300).
I don't mind the budget, but I wanna make sure it's worth the money and time.
