“I am racist,” said Umno Supreme Council member Tan Sri Annuar Musa, when trying to justify the racial overtones of today’s “red shirt” rally in Kuala Lumpur.

However, he stressed that his “racism was based on Islam”.

Anuar, who was the last speaker at today’s “Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu”, said racism was allowed in Islam, except when it involved oppressing others.

The Malay community in Malaysia was the most tolerant ethnic group in the world, Anuar said, adding that in Indonesia, ethnic Chinese Indonesians were not even allowed to use Chinese names.

“I am racist but it’s racism based on Islam. Racism is allowed in Islam,” Annuar told reporters at the end of the rally at Padang Merbok, which he claimed attracted 250,000 people.

Annuar then quoted a hadith (a saying of the Prophet) on assobiyah (Arabic term for pride in one's tribe) which he interpreted as justifying racism.

All restaurants and food outlets in Brunei are still not allowed to serve food to daytime diners during Ramadhan, the country's Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) said in a statement yesterday. Eateries that breach the regulation would be prosecuted under Chapter 195 of the Syariah Penal Code Order, for disrespecting the month of Ramadhan. The law was enforced on May 1, 2014, and Chinese-operated non-halal restaurants have been appealing for permission to serve their non-Muslim customers in the daytime during Ramadhan. Those appeals were all rejected by the ministry.

The increasing cost of living, especially in the city, prompted residents of the People's Housing Project (PPR) Raya Permai, in Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur, to cultivate their own vegetable and fruit gardens.

However, their plans initially hit a snag as they needed land for the project. After much brainstorming and discussions among the 30 members of the PPR Residents Association, the group then met with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) personnel and requested for a piece of land.

DBKL agreed to allocate 1.2 hectares of abandoned land next to the PPR, which has about 3,800 residents, for the Kuala Lumpur Local Agenda 21 (LA21) Herb Garden.

LA21 KL, launched in 2007, is a programme comprising three parties, namely the local authorities (DBKL), the public and private sectors working together to plan and manage their surrounding areas towards a sustainable development and higher quality of life.
Chairman of the residents association, Sukri Dollah, said initially they grew fruits, such as guava, starfruit, jackfruit and mangoes, and vegetables including chilli, okra, eggplant and "kangkung".

"The project was introduced six years ago soon after getting the land from DBKL in 2009. We immediately cleared the land, and began farming it.

"So far, about 40 people are involved on a rotation basis in cultivating the land here. We had harvested vegetables like chilli, okra, eggplant and 'ulam raja' several times.

"Residents who are not involved also benefit because they get free vegetables," he told Bernama, at the launch of the herb garden nursery and gardening projects in conjunction with the World Environment Day 2015 by DBKL director-general Datuk Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz (pic).

Sukri said the produce from the herb garden, which now has 300 species, would also be sold if there was a high output and this would generate income for the residents.

The residents association has also looked for sponsorships and plants from about 30 organisations including the Lions Club International and Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd.

It is also working with government agencies such as the Department of Agriculture and Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Sukri said the Herb Garden, which is monitored 24 hours by the residents' association, could also be a tourist attraction and a place for recreation.

He added that the publci was welcomed to visit the garden which has a jogging track and tables and chairs for picnics or afternoon tea.

Meanwhile, Amin said DBKL, in collaboration with the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (FAMA), would help to market the produce at the farmers' markets soon. – Bernama, June 15, 2015.

Yesterday i drink with 1 PK 1 teacher. His say last week his meet new JPN kuala terengganu Pengarah. And the pengarah ask him stop supporting PAS and stop insult barisan as this Pengarah know this PK 1 teacher dislike barisan.
