Hi all,

To keep it simple, my family installed Maxis Home fibre 100 Mbps on Tuesday 27/11/2018 at 1:30 PM. We signed off when the speeds were shown stable by the techs and left for lunch.

Upon returning 1.5 hours later, we had a red LOS signal on our TM modem and absolutely no internet service. Spent about 1.5 hours with the Maxis customer service and tech to confirm that nothing can be done on their end (about 30 mins of waiting in between transferring departments). However, I managed to get the issue escalated by the tech (if that even does anything lol) and reported with a valid case file number. I was told that a call would come from the ground techs to set up a session the next day.

Wednesday 28/11/2018: 3 separate calls to Maxis CS regarding this, lots of sorrys thrown about but no follow-up on even getting a call by the ground techs for a session. Kept asking them to push the issue or escalate but it seems every other customer has an escalated issue lol.

Thursday 29/11/2018: I called the tech who serviced our house and understandably he has many orders to fulfill so attending my issue would be difficult. Again, I asked him to help push but as of now still no call from ground tech.

Is there anyone from Maxis monitoring this forum that can get a supervisor to look at this and hopefully resolve it? WE JUST INSTALLED THE INTERNET AND IT FAILED WITHIN 1.5 HOURS!

Hi all,

Need some rough recommendations for Driving schools in KL area (near PJ-ish if can) for refresher courses. I had a P then forgot to renew (overseas) so now back to L, need to retake practical to get back to P. Googling gives me some results but not sure on the service/price/value so I am asking here first.

I don't mind paying as long as I don't have to sit in a car with a baby who took a s*** mid drive during my practical practice when I first took my P back in 2014 lol.

If possible, looking for good scheduling as well and wouldn't mind late day classes for less people on the road.

Item(s): This is an old but still functional 1st Generation PSP 1000 bought from Japan when it first came out in 2004. It has brought me great joy using this throughout my (much) earlier years and I hope that whoever buys this continues to use rather than scrap it. In addition to the hardware and 16 UMD games in this bundle, I made sure that the firmware was updated to its (almost) latest edition of 6.60 and that the machine will be sold in a "plug and play" state to the best of my ability.

A few things to note:
1. The latest 6.61 version does not really have anything extra except some software stability improvements (https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/system-updates/psp/)
2. The original 3.6V battery that came with the PSP does not have an adequate charge anymore so you may have to source a replacement. This means that it will only work with the charger.
3. The charger works but for some reason if you angle the charge input a certain way, it will stop charging.
4. This being one of the earlier PSPs, it is actually made in Japan.

All I've got so far is:
1. Den Den town (Osaka)
2. Animate store (Osaka)
3. Kyoto international manga museum (Kyoto)

Wouldn't mind traveling but would prefer if the shops were within the city center or not too far out. No preference for the shop specialty as long as it has lots of cool stuff.

+Internetz for anyone who can recommend the more obscure/ under the radar/ Hidden gem kind of shops that you can't really find by searching the web!

Hi all,

I am looking for advice on choosing a printer. The printer will be used mainly for printing reports and scanning for the most part. I'll list down the stuff I am looking for below.

1) It has to be reliable and somewhat easy to set up. Last thing I want is a temperamental printer who doesn't want to print my final report when I need it too. Doesn't have to have any fancy features besides being reliable.

2) Preferably cheap in terms of initial buy and running costs. I don't print often (maybe 2 times a week max). However, I can live with a higher purchase initial buy and running cost as long as 1) is met.

3) Preferably compact but not necessary.

4) No preference if it prints only monocolour or full colour but it must be able to scan.

5) Preference on printing A4. No need for photo print unless the feature comes with the printer.

6) Likewise, print quality should be decent but I'd pay more for better quality prints.

Sorry if the requirements I gave are incompatible with one another but as long as 1) is met I would be happy.

Hi all,

I am currently running a Razer black widow tournament edition mechanical keyboard and I really like it. That said, I need another tenkeyless or 60% mechanical keyboard to bring to class since university computer keyboards are absolutely horrible.

I paid ~RM350 for the Razer and I don't mind buying it again just for this purpose but I worry about the people in the same room with me as anyone who has used this keyboard will know that it is quite audible.

I have also looked at some of the typical mechanical keyboard brands that offer the tenkeyless/ 60% sized keyboards like Filco, Das keyboard, Cm storm but haven't really found something within the price range I want. I do not mind trying a new brand so long as it meets the following requirements (already hinted above but I'll put it down here).

1. Cheap or at max RM 300

2. Tenkeyless or 60% (75% ok) mechanical keyboard

3. No preference on switches so long as it isn't Razer loud, I do prefer heavier keystrokes but anything goes

4. No need for any back lighting

5. Preferably not flashy but will accept any and all gaming keyboard styles

6. No bluetooth

Sadly, this is a 2 year old computer by the 26th of august so there is no more warranty. I think it may be extendable if dell is contacted. I will answer questions regarding warranty but so far there is nothing wrong with my laptop. Had one motherboard and screen change last year june due to a burnout from playing games. Essentially, because the MOBO and Screen were soldered together, the whole thing was replaced by dell making the laptop pretty much new. No other faults. No scratches on the outer shell but there are some slight scratch-like marks on the back where the charger port is. Not noticeable though. As for the cleanliness of the laptop, it has clear signs of use from all the gaming I have been doing. I will clean it up before I hand it over so don't worry.

Men's deodorant

Hi, not sure if this actually goes here but I would really like to know. What are the better deodorants available in malaysia currently?

Background
Male, 19, No serious BO but sometimes have a rash/itch problem using the casual Adidas sports/Nvidia deodorant. Have a very bad itch using aerosol deodorants so I would say I have somewhat sensitive skin.

Products used include the above Adidas, Nvidia deodorants.

Anyway, I need to ask. While I am not particular about the scent, most of the deodorants I have purchased all come with a smell that really just masks my non-toxic BO ( basically, it isn't bad enough to be noticeable ) but never does much in terms of sweat absorption. So I still feel sweaty even with the deodorant on. Am I buying the wrong type of deodorant? I am aware of anti-perspirants but am unsure of what brand to buy or use. What should I be looking for?

Preference.
If possible, could anyone recommend me a deodorant that is not scented but absorbs sweat so that even in our crap-hot-as-hell weather, I don't feel like a wet fish? Also, could the product recommendation be somewhat obtainable in Malaysia?

Gaming laptop/General use Laptop recommendation.

Hello, I am helping 2 friends, one to choose a gaming laptop and one for a general use laptop, hence the title above.
About me first, I have 2 computers, one M14x R1 and a SFF rig
specs,
M14x - I5, GTX555m, 60GB Intel 330 SSD ( LOL, yes ), usual other semi important stuff that comes in R1 series.
SFF rig - Bitfenix prodigy, Leadtek GTX680, ASrock Z77-ITX, I5-3570k, G-skill 8gb ram, usual other stuff but no water cooling. + crapload of razer/cyborg RAT/more razer peripherals
I am basically a fan of gaming laptops and SFF rigs if the above doesn't show it XD

So, I was asked by my friend to help him choose a laptop for university ( all of us going UK so buying options are open for either country )

The first asked for a decent mid range gaming laptop. I can recommend him all the brands in the world based on reviews and such so brands like ASUS, MSI, ALIENWARE, SAMSUNG, TOSHIBA + All the CLEVO rebranded laptops will be first to come to mind. However, I only have experience with the M14x and the rest are purely based on reviews. I need your help to tell me the ins and outs for the gaming laptop that you use ( personally used before is always better ) so that I can get a hands on review of what you guys think of your own laptops. Honestly, I would rather hear personal opinions from fellow malaysians ( since we play wayyyy too many games ) than read up bias-semi to bias reviews from different forums/websites.

So, some basic requirements for my friends.

For my first friend,
Basic requirements,
- Budget around 3-4k, not exceeding though.
- Able to run most games at acceptable to good speed, Price-performance ratio important ( ie, if there is a reason to get this card, why? Performance is nice but value for the "green" is important too )
- HDD or SSD? I see the point in buying an SSD ( 330 Intel on my M14x R1 makes it boot semi-godlike and I like! ) but is the cost really justified yet? Is it generally cheaper to go with a HDD and tear/replace with SSD, reformat the HDD and use as an external HDD instead?
- 8gb RAM, I think everyone agrees on this
- Laptop size matters but dimensions and weight should not exceed something like an ASUS g55vw, 3.8kg is a lot to lug around so lighter = better
- 15-17 inch screen, I understand bigger is usually better but poor GPUs can't handle the bigger screens ( then again I could be wrong )
- mSATA, never really understood a lot about this, can someone shed some light?
- CPU can be i5,i7 or other, should I tell them to wait for a Haswell chip?
- General aesthetics do matter for this friend XD so fugly computers are sort of out of the question no matter the performance

For my non-gamer friend
Basic requirements,
- General use multimedia laptop. I have absolutely near to 0 experience with using generic laptops like this, besides a Ibookg4 mac that I used when I was younger. So, I really really need some pro opinion on this.
- Watch stuff, browsing, university stuff usage. Nothing heavy was suggested when I asked my friend.
- He doesn't game ( yea, inorite ) so it doesn't have to be powerful GPU wise
- He is fine with anything from tablet/laptop hybrids to full laptops
- Generally, 14+ inch is safe.
- HDD/SSD doesn't really matter here unless it's recommended
- Lightweight, thin but non-ultrabook styles and standards welcome
- budget 2.9k below, this is confirmed by my friend who specifically wanted the price point at that level
- More of a value for money guy,

Some important stuff too
- Need some feedback on customer service on laptops, brand wise is it safe to buy from X compared to B even if X has a better deal, I have dealt with Dell warranty service before, I personally say that they are excellent ( GPU and screen fried from excessive gaming, don't ask how it happened, screen went black so they changed the mobo and screen for free 18 days before my warranty expired, highly recommended XD ) and I've heard horror stories from ASUS. Actually the thread should be slightly below mine XD.
- Some feedback as to whether we should get the laptops here or in UK, the VAT claim is possible for the 1st year so we can get back a hefty amount. That said, is Malaysia always cheaper to buy from?
- Feedback on build quality of laptops, heating, stuff like that. I went through most of the gaming laptops during my time when I was looking for one, still feel I made a mistake of not asking/ doing enough research so I bought an M14x but I don't have a whole lot of regrets.
- Keyboard/trackpad feedback on the laptops if possible, sorta like why a steel series gaming keyboard in an MSI laptop is better than a stock Alienware keyboard besides the brand name on it.
- Should we also hold out for 700m series GPU?
- Thermal compounds, why pay more?

Most importantly, it would be awesome if you guys could recommend, to the smallest detail the configuration of the laptop you would recommend. Everything helps here so include some advice for buying from your reseller or direct seller if possible.

I am no way in a longshot a computer pro, I just like gaming, some computer bits and pieces, etc.... However, I'd like to give my friends a better chance of not screwing up their laptop purchase by going to mid valley/digital mall and picking the one that looks the best/ salesman hook line and sinker.

Would really appreciate it if the guys here could take up the challenge and help me THNX!

I would really like to know before I head there tomorrow to save time wandering around. Hence, can anyone recommend me an Iphone service? As far as I know, the Apple stores there DO NOT change the batteries of the Iphone 3GS so that's a no go already.

Notes.
1. Screen did break down last year ( GPU fried due to excessive gaming, seriously lol ) but got it replaced last JUNE, I have the paperwork if anyone wants to see it. Essentially, because the GPU, motherboard and screen are soldered, they replaced the whole thing. That means, the screen is technically new.
2. No problems so far over the last 2 years using it, was a wonderful machine to play games but I have less time now so it's got to go.

Not enough time to play games. Downgrading to lighter and smaller ultrabook. Kinda sad really.
Edit: I found some time to play games again XD. JK, just decided to keep it a little while longer for other work uses.
