Italian tune up

hi there petrolheads, can you guys share some thought about italian tune up? how many people done it regularly?
i've done it about once a month or so or whenever im feeling like doing it.

for me i feel like the engine idle smoother after some spirited driving(within the speed limit of course )

i've heard that driving gentle and low engine rpm for a long period of time promotes a faster carbon buildup. and also one old otai once told me to rev the engine up before turning off the engine to clear off air fuel mixture from the combustion chamber, is this still works on modern engine? i know this somehow work on older carburated engines.

share your thoughts guys..
