Security Certification - CISSP, CISM or GISP

I'm pursuing a security certification hunt starting this year and currently I'm thinking of either CISSP, CISM or GISP. I already have CEH and ITIL with ISMS Lead Implementer cert, but I'm not truly satisfied yet.

So which one from this 3 should i take? Which one is much easier to go? Which one is more valued in job market? And which one is the most expensive to take?

Please enlighten me ...

Android Mobile Malware - Malaysia is in the list

Android Mobile Malware Report
By: Liviu Arsene

The mid-summer mobile malware report reveals not only that Android malware developers are interested in making money, but also that most threats we’ve dealt with are still going strong.

For three months, we’ve been talking about the steady growth of adware-bundled apps. Now we’ve seen the percentage spike to 77.34% of the total of Android malware detections. This all-time high represents the total amount of Adware currently injected in apps, and not only detections involving the infamous Android.Adware.Mulad.A.

Our stats reveal that India is the country most affected by malware and adware, with an infection rate of 8.41%. The second and third places are occupied by the United States, with a 6.7 percent infection rate, and Romania, at 6.69%.

The United Kingdom and France have close percentages as well, with 5.08% rand 5.01% placing them in the top five countries affected by Android malware. Germany is sixth with 4.32%, followed by China with 3.7%, ahead of Spain and Malaysia, which scored 2.93% and 2.78%.

This month’s report revealed that malware coders are mostly using Trojans or aggressive adware bundled with a wide range of apps. August will probably reveal many of the same threats in terms of Trojans and Exploits, but we might also see further increase aggressive adware.

Detail link
Android Malware Report
_____________________________________________________________

so what say samsung fag??

Hard Disk Password Problem

Hi guys,

Need a help with my friends notebook problem. He set a hard disk password at his notebook and unluckily he forgot it. Now he can't use the notebook at all. Is there any way that he can do to bypass/reset/delete the password?

He had tried taking out the CMOS battery but the problem still exist as (I think) the password is hard coded into the hard disk itself. He did try changing the hard disk with other notebook hard disk and the notebook can work.

For reference it's a Gateway notebook. He forgot the hard disk brand (suspect maxtor or seagate).

Yoroshiku!!

Converting text file into HTML/ASP

Hi guys,

I'm having a problem on how to convert a text file into HTML/ASP file. What I'm planning to do is to publish my telnet session results through web. So what I have in mind currently is by using the log utility in telnet session, I'll have a text file for the output and I would like to convert this text file into HTML.

The main problem is I do not want to use all the contents. I just want to get certain results and put it in a table in HTML.I know that using FileSystemObject (fso) enable me to read the text file via ASP/VBScript but I'm stuck at getting the output that I want and publish it in a table as I want the output to be in a more readable format.

For additional information the telnet session is connecting to a UNIX server and get info on hard disk space and display process running at that time.

Any hint, help, advices are really appreciated.

TQ in advance

DNS problem
Hi guys,

Just wanna ask about one weird problem that my collegues faced several time. Her PC cannot access the net or any intra website. I checked the IP configuration and everything seems to be in place. Static IP, gateway, DNS IP and WINS are configured properly. Her PC used Win XP SP 2.

The weird thing is her PC is the only one that cannot access the net or any intra website. So my first action was to check her DNS (cos I can ping her PC through mine) by using nslookup and even it was configured properly, it came out with 'Unknown server' result. So what I did then was I try using tracert to see whether I can see the DNS server through her PC. I know I can just use ping but I like to see where does the traffic goes. The tracert take some times but came out fine.

This is the weirdest part cos after I successfully tracert the DNS, when I use the nslookup, I can see the DNS server name properly. And the pc can surf the net normally. So it's baffles me cos I don't know what went wrong.

This problem has occured several time and my solution currently is to try tracert the DNS and check whether it can find the DNS or not. Cos if it can find it, then the pc can go to the web.

We're not using streamyx or any DSL equipment (Office LAN).

So anybody got any idea what cause the problem? Just wanna solve it once and for all .
