Call from unregistered simcard

Hello,

I place this in /k as i think the power of /k army is almost endless....

Couple of days ago my other half received a brief call from a number (011-2302-64**) purportedly my staff, claiming knowledge/information about me . Notwithstanding the claims/accusations, that number cannot be reached afterward. We tried ringing back the number from numerous phones and in different days and all we got was the number not in service. Apparently, the simcard was activated very briefly and that was it. I tried looking into the net about call tracing but very minimal was gained.

Can unregistered simcard be used to make a call?

Tq

Can't Config Ubuntu Studio For Wired Networking

Guys,

I'm a linux newbie having stuck within Wins environment for too long. I've managed to install Ubuntu Studio 12.4 into a separate partition and have it booted. However I'm stuck in network config. I've collected some network info within Win XP as underneath. I'm on fixed ip. Don't really know if the info underneath are sufficient or I've to dig/spew out more.

IP: 10.21.xxx.xxx
Subnet: 255.255.xxx.xxx
Gateway: 10.21.xxx.xxx
DNS servers: 10.21.xxx.xxx and 10.17.xxx.xxx

suffix: something.com.my

authen: IEEE 802.1X with PEAP enabled

MSCHAP v2

also LMHosts lookup enabled.

Under Win environment i'd usually login to my network like /something/username and key-in my password.

Not sure where/how to do that within ubuntu environment.

Your help is much appreciated.

thanks

Radiator Fan Does Not Switch

model: proton iswara aeroback
year: 2000

couple of days back i noticed the temp gauge exceeded the normal engine temp. Coolant level also reduced. Had to top up. and these topping up has been daily exercises at home before offie and at office before home.

Only today that i have ample time to check. Here's initial finding:

1. the relay works; this is confirmed since i swap between power window and radiator;

2. the radiator fan also work; confirmed by testing direct to battery.

I've opened up the thermostat, perhaps it needs replacement. But a simple check (boiling water dip) showed that it still functions

Why the radiator fan doesn't power up?

There is a switch? (located at the lower end of the radiator, close to the flush outlet) the connects to the same power cable as the fan. Could this be the culprit?

Thanks.

Elgrand & Vito Grand Lux - next MPV

Guys,

With increasing number of family members, I'm seriously looking for an MPV for weekend/school holidays or just balik-kampung drives. Weekdays we've separate cars. So far, I've had the experience of owning brand new cars from Proton, Perodua, Honda, Kia and Peugeot so I know their relative maintenance requirements/costs. I've zero experience with MPV of any brand either new or used.

At the moment, I put a financial cap at 160K and have looked at various models; used and new. I can find informative reviews/comments/maintenance routines and costs for Estima and Alphard quite easily but I don't seem to find those for Elgrand and Merc Vito.

2004 Elgrand Impul runs anything from 130K onwards. Similarly with 2006 Mec Vito Luxury. These 2 models seem to attract my attention.

If anyone owns any of these behemoths, I'd really appreciate your inputs in terms of maintenance and other comments deemed fit for purchase comparison.

As with used cars, I know there's zero warranty so the maintenance aspects is paramount.

On the other hand, for 160K there are new mpvs such as Starex Grand? and Pug 5008. I'm omitting Hyundai Starex for personal reasons unless you guys have violent objections

Pug 5008 is nice (picture-wise). I didn't manage to look at the 2 models brought in earlier as they were sold off already. I'm a bit skeptical about the luggage space when all 7 seats are occupied (as they will be when we drive as a family).

Looking for reviews/advise/comments on Elgrand and Vito.

Thanks.
