Elevated highway project passed stringent checks

KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 ― Plans for the super-elevated Kinrara Damansara Expressway (KIDEX) passed relevant safety and environmental checks, the developer of the project has said, as it seeks to allay growing concerns raised by residents in affected areas.

The developer, Kidex Sdn Bhd, said construction of the RM2.42 billion highway will be closely monitored by the Department of Environment and will include monthly reports on possible noise and dust pollution.

“The EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) report has been approved. We are going to comply with whatever conditions imposed by the DOE,” Kidex Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Nor Idrus he told The Malay Mail Online in an exclusive interview.

RM1.1mil found strapped to body of dead man

DOCTORS and police at a hospital in Chandigarh, northern India, found almost Rs20 lakh (RM1.1mil) strapped to the body of a dead man, reported Malaysia Nanban.

A police spokesman said they had been alerted on Tuesday about the man, Mohan Lal, 53, who was found unconscious at an inter-state bus terminal before being taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Doctors at the hospital later declared him dead from a heart attack.

When police searched Mohan's body and bags, they recovered over Rs19.47 lakh tied around his chest and ankles. They found the rest of the money in his bags.

Family members said Mohan was on his way back to Amritsar from Delhi, where he had earlier collected payment for his artificial jewellery business. He had stopped in Chandigarh to take the bus to Amritsar.

The three police constables, who took the trader to the hospital and recovered the cash, were later rewarded.

He said Indian culture and traditions would be lost if nothing was done to safeguard the Tamil language.

Kohilan urged temple committees and other religious organisations to hold programmes and seminars on Indian culture.
