Trouble Paying with Bank Cards?

Did anyone have trouble with using Credit or Debit cards today afternoon or so? There was a long wait at the carpark exit at Aeon Shah Alam because bank cards could not be used, only touch and go. I heard of some people having trouble logging in to online banking/apps. Now I read the news that Rafizi also got his payment using bank cards got rejected.

Question on Car Insurance

So I got into an accident at the NKVE, near the subang toll. Polis say dua2 salah. So kena tanggung sendiri.

Its a 3 year old proton. Got some panel work that needs to be done. Car seems to be fine, no funny noise or drifting or pulling. Wheel got scraping. Proton say claim insurance since it will cost more than 2k to do panel work (replace not ketuk) plus repaint affected areas. Kalau mau replace lampu other stuff which is slightly damaged (but still usable) will cost more.

I know I will lose my NCD if I claim. But I would like to know if my base premium would also increase as I would be considered a higher risk since i have a history of one accident? Also dont know how much is proton going to end up claiming since like they are listing so many things to replace.. By the way, this is my first one so I dont know much about this.

Also, if do panel work outside, warranty wont void right? Since they dont kacau the parts which are under warranty? Someone keeps telling me dont send outside shop nanti warranty hilang, apparently they are speaking from personal experince but I am a bit skeptical.

Should I Take a Lower-Ranked Gov Contract Job

I recently got called for an interview for a Gred 9 (41 in old system) contract position at KKM Mikrobiolgi.Now its only lantik 3 tahun and no more tetap, so I assume no pencen as well. Previously, I was also attached with a government body at a higher grade (43/44) but was also a contract position which did not get renewed. I do have a degree in microbiolgy but have a higher degree in another field. Gred 9 for this position aslo does not distigush from degree or sarajana or higher, so even if you have postgraduate degree like me, you will get the same pay as degree holder.

As some of you might know, SPA you just apply as pegawai sains or what ever position and you are automatically in the pool.

Taking this job feels like a downgrade, and I’m not sure if the salary for Gred 9 is livable. But at the same time, I am currently unemployed and don’t have other job offers. Its been awhile also.

Would you take the job just for financial stability, or keep searching for something better? Anyone with experience in Gred 9 contract positions—how’s the pay and work environment? Appreciate any advice!

I was in more of a paper work kind of role for 5 years, but was let go. New management, new policy. So was made redundant. That was around 6 months ago. Been freelancing since then, but ya, its not stable la.

New government hires are 3 year contract, so at the end of the 3 years they can just decide to not hire you back, simillar to what happened to me before this.

The main perk of working in the government is job stability and pencen. At least that was what that was drilled into me growing up around civil servants. But now, since government decide to remove both, I really dont see the appeal of seeking government job.

Call from bank debt dept

So i got a call from 0327221300. Pick it up but no answer and after awhile a recorded message says "All our CS are busy at the moment, please call us at 0391953333".

Googled the number and found it linked to a banks debt collection service.

I did not call that number.

i don't have any outstanding payments due.

Should I be concern?

Was thinking of checking ccris to see if got any suspicious irregularities, but it seems they stop their online registration. Have to go to the kiosk to do. Will be doing it soon, but need to go during office hours, so a bit tight for time.

Two questions:

Should I be concern if my data has been misused? What should I do to check?

Is there any alternative to register for ccris remotely? Other than CTOS that is.

Testing Out B-segment Cars.

I recently tested a few b-segment cars: Persona,Vios, Myvi, City and the Almera. I was quite surprised with the outcome. Although the interior of the persona looks good, the CVT is the worst among the lot. At the roundabout, I had to tekan the minyak a little more than usual and the car ended up lunging forward. The SA just said, “Oh, now you can feel the power of the engine”.

The Vios was the most responsive of the lot. I have heard not that many good things about the Vios, but the ride was actually quite good. The City was a bit laggy to the touch, but at least there was some noise feedback, unlike the persona. Almera was not bad as well, with the turbo responding well for short sprints. But the reverse camera was horrible, picture quality wise and had a huge delay.

Other than the Persona, I used the same route for all the cars, so I got a good comparison. I actually went to two Proton dealer and both of them said tak boleh bawak atas highway. Are they trying to cover up or something?

Anyway, now I am split on which car to pick. Two things that a sore point now. The waiting period for all cars are at least 2 months. Next is the price. Persona was well within my budget. But now I am not sure. I know the CVT needs getting used to, but the other cars responded well to the CVT novice (me). The Vios is out of my budget, but there is small voice telling me to tambah sikit a go for it since it was the better test drive among the others. I know I shouldn’t, but…

Any thoughts?

Newbie Question about Buying a car

Hi. I am about to purchase a new car, probably a persona or myvi, depending on the test drive outcome.

Before I go to the showroom, just wanted to know what are the relevant info I should know.

Also, is it a good idea to buy a pre registered car?

Should I approach the banks directly for the loan or would it be better to just go through the dealer? I know it might be a hassle, but are there any other reasons one is better than the other?

Kalau ada tips about the purchasing process, please do tell.

N95 Mask

I recently bought a box of N95 mask from a hardware shop. The seal looks real, I checked the lot number and serial number on the 3M validation website and it came back validated.

The shell/mask is usually harder/stiffer. However, this time it is softer than usual. The shape is still there, it just feels softer as in can depress it easily (but it does retain its shape after pushing it back).

For context, I bought my last batch at a pharmacy for RM 120, while the hardware shop was selling for 75. The pharmacy is known to mark up prices quite a bit (box of gloves for 50, surgical mask was 75 before it was controlled; you get the picture). As for the hardware store, it is big shop, CSM in shah alam. I did buy from them a few years back and did not have any issues before.

Is is a fake? How else should I check?

Mysejathera Lambat Update

I have a relative who finally decided to get the vaccine. The person registered via Mysejathera 2 weeks ago, but it is still stuck at the assesment stage.

Any reason why it takes so long to go to the eligble stage? The person scared if it went thorough or not. Calling JKJAV also there is a que of 60 people ahead.

TNB changing to new meter

TNB are changing to the new smart meters in my parent Taman. Just want to know if can ask them to delay coming to fix the meter.

Parent both over 60 and worried. Just a week ago or so someone who was postive in one of the nearby houses was taken by amublance. So now parents scared if the techincian who fix there will come here change, takut spread here.

I don't know what to say. Can ah call and delay?

edit 1: No, the meter is not tampered with, they are just two scared elderly people. They don't even go out of the house.

Apps Login by itself, Is this common?

I recently switched to a samsung phone. As usual, during setup, the phone asked if you would like to install the apps from your previous phone, so I said Yes.

To note, this was not done using the smart switch or other similar apps, where you scan the QR code on your old phone or NFC to transfer the files. This was done purely using the google cloud interface.

A few apps, such as MyTNB and my work related app( the one we use to clock in), appears to be signed in without me even keying in any information. This did not happen for my other apps such as Air Selangor and so on. And no this did not use the smartlock feature, because when I logged into netflix, the smartlock notifcation came before login in.

Is it normal or am I being paranoid?

UVC Sterilzer for phone

Does the UVC sterilizer work ? Like the one Samsung is selling for phone. They seem to be selling everywhere now.

Went to the electrical store and the sales person was trying to sell it to me. I did not buy it, but was just curious if it does work. With no concrete way of testing, no idea on its efficacy.

Lately the one where people keep screaming after getting a ton of money keeps coming out. Tiba2 ada orang memekak. Lucky I am not using my speakers. But RIP my ears la.

Am seriously considering getting a Samsung Phone. I usually buy my phones over the counter but due to the CMCO, can really go to my usual places.

The thing is most sellers on lazada say the box will be opened for checking and warranty registration before shipping, something which I am sceptical about. I see many reviews of warranty being registered earlier than the purchase date.

The official Samsung store on Lazada does not seem to reply to my inquires about this as well.

Is it normal for sellers to do warranty registration? Can the buyers do it instead?

Do you guy have any trusted/recommended online sellers that don't have such requirements?

I am looking to get a new phone but am not sure if I should even look at China-based phone brands. Its for my parents, so flashing Custom ROM and all that is not an options.

I know Huawei and Honor are a no go since you cant get google services, but should I avoid other China-based phones altogether? What is to say the other brands to get imposed with a ban (ie Xioami).

Well if not these brands, what other options do I have? There aren't many other than Samsung. Apple is out of the question (too expensive).

Any insight would be helpful.

PSP repair shop

Hi.

Does anyone know where I can get a PSP fixed ? Just thought of getting mine fixed. It still works on a/c, but cant get the battery to charge.

Tried a shop in Digital mall two year back. The guy asked me to change the battery and the charger. Worked for a day or two then the problem came back. Just put the psp aside after that.

Anywhere around Klang Valley area would be ideal.

I am on astro IPTV now, using the maxis line. Astro does not seem to be dropping the price for the internet part of the plan (148 for 10mb).

My contract is about to expire, so I was thinking of switching to another ISP, probably even maxis @RM 89.

My question is, it is possible to connect the new internet line into the decoder ?
