“Pemeriksaan petugas kesihatan kemudian mengesahkan mangsa telah meninggal dunia,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan.

Stop harassing doctors over ivermectin, says Miri MP after raids on private centres

MIRI – Certain private doctors are allegedly being pressured and harassed by the authorities for prescribing ivermectin to treat patients critically down with Covid-19 who were left without any other avenue for improvement.

Miri MP Dr Teo Yu Keng, himself a medical doctor, told The Vibes today that numerous friends who are senior doctors in Kuala Lumpur had said raids by the enforcement authorities are being stepped up.

He expressed worry that such enforcement is going to spread beyond the capital to all the other states.

“I was told that clinics and specialist centres run by very senior doctors in KL are being raided by enforcement people,” said Teo, who is also Sarawak PKR vice-chairman.

“These enforcement teams, allegedly being led by the Health Department’s people, are searching for ivermectin.

“My friends, who are very senior doctors in KL, alerted me after their clinics were raided. They appeal for the matter to be highlighted in the Dewan Rakyat.”

He said that he raised the matter in the Dewan Rakyat session yesterday and has written letters to the Health Ministry appealing for it to meet with doctors specifically to discuss the ivermectin issue.

So far, the ministry has not responded to all his queries on this and have refused a meeting, he added.

“Why are the enforcement people harassing doctors who are trying to save the lives of those down with Covid-19?

“There are real-life cases of how Covid-19 sufferers have recovered after taking ivermectin in Malaysia, as well as in many countries in the region, including in Japan.

“Doctors who prescribe ivermectin follow international medical guidelines,” he stressed.

Teo said that there are currently no antiviral medicines that can treat Covid-19 sufferers.

“The Covid-19 medicines being developed by Western countries will cost up to RM6,000 per treatment if available in Malaysia. That is too expensive for the ordinary rakyat,” he said.

He called for an end to all enforcement raids against doctors.

“Stop the harassment and meet us so that we can show evidence of the effectiveness of ivermectin,” he said. – The Vibes, November 25, 2021

A 16-year-old vocational student in Lampang has died as a result of blood clots blocking blood vessels in both lungs a few days after receiving her second shot of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, according to her death certificate.

Specimens have been collected for testing and are being examined to decide whether she died as a result of side effects of the vaccination.

Thanphit Sakunmat, 48, the father of the girl, said his daughter had on Oct 6 received her first shot of the Pfizer vaccine under the government's Covid-19 vaccination programme for students and didn't experience any serious side effects. However, her father said only one day after she received her second shot of the same vaccine on Oct 27, she began experiencing a fever.

The following day she developed other symptoms including diarrhoea, vomiting, swallowing difficulties and fatigue.

On the third day her vomiting became more severe, which resulted in stomach pain and more severe fatigue, he said.

He called an ambulance and rushed his daughter to the hospital after she began suffering breathing difficulties.

She was later pronounced dead after being treated in an intensive care unit, he said.

The death certificate issued by the hospital indicated that she died of thrombosis in the lungs.

Now that he had lost one daughter, he said, the family has decided to put on hold injections of the second shot of the vaccine for his wife and his older daughter, which are booked for Nov 22.

After the funeral, the family plans to find out if the girl died as a result of the vaccine's side effects and will seek financial compensation if that is the case, he said.

Dr Chawetsan Namwat, director of the Emergency Health Hazard and Disease Control Division, meanwhile, said only three deaths have so far been proved to be directly linked to Covid vaccinations.

The first two were cases of thrombosis with low platelets following vaccination while the other patient went into shock as a result of severe allergic reactions to the vaccine, he said.

As of Oct 24, 1,296 deaths suspected to be linked to Covid vaccinations have been recorded and investigated by medical experts, he said. Of this number, 842 have been ruled out as being caused by the jabs.

Iceland halts Moderna COVID-19 vaccine over heart-inflammation fears

Iceland has decided to suspend Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine citing concerns of increased risks of cardiac inflammation.

"As the supply of Pfizer vaccine is sufficient in the territory ... the chief epidemiologist has decided not to use the Moderna vaccine in Iceland," a statement published on the website of the Health Directorate read.

This decision has been taken at a time when more than 88 per cent (370,000 locals) of the eligible population, of ages 12 and above, have already been fully vaccinated.

Iceland had been administering the additional dose of the Moderna vaccines to locals on an almost exclusive basis. The country had also been using additional dose of Janssen, a single-dose serum by Johnson & Johnson, for the elderly and people with weak immunity systems. These doses were being administered even on people who had received the first two doses of some another vaccine.

This decision from Iceland has come a little after Sweden and Finland, too, suspended the use of Moderna vaccine for people under the age of 30. The reason behind the two countries suspending use of Moderna for under 30s has been the same — risk of inflammation of the myocardium, the heart muscle, and the pericardium, the membrane covering the heart.

Denmark and Norway have imposed a complete ban of usage of the Moderna vaccine for everyone under the age of 18.

Swedish authorities have said that the Moderna vaccines the inflammation caused by this vaccine can pass on its own but people should consult medical professionals before getting administered a shot.
