This is new small crossover is the same segment as the Honda HRV, Toyota CHR or the Mazda CX3.

Hopefully Volkswagen Malaysia will price it appropriately. Judging by their current models line up pricing are quite similar to the European's price tag even though thats a big import tax on every model in Malaysia.

Saw it in flesh. Extremely good quality and solid build. Not sure about the CKD version will looks like.

Well it was a blast while it last for cheap fuel. Looks like the fuel price is heading to RM3 + per litre soon. Hopefully they will be more and more people switching to EV or PHEV soon.

Hike Fuel Price.

As of 2017 there are common EV cars that can travel up to 400km.

Renault Zoe - 400km (RM140k international pricing without tax)

Hyundai Ioniq EV - 280km (RM140k international pricing without tax)

BMW i3 - 320km (RM145k international pricing without tax)

Of course these are tested in a a control environment. However this is more than enough for common people to travel 100km to and back round trip without any issue.

Yes thats still lack of EV infrastructures in Malaysia. At the moment if they can provide some CCD fast charger every 50-100km will be a done deal for starter.

Ceramic coating or Film wrap?

Anyone use ceramic coating to protect their bodywork or using clear self healing film?

Big SUV need some pamper. Have a few quotes on ceramic coating which a lot cheaper vs clear film. Heard it wouldn't last as long as the film.

Any recommendation around KL or Johor would be nice.

It's just an engineering marvel! Thats said it all really. I'm not a BMW fan until now. Well done BMW. It's really is taking electric car to a new level.

NAP and others related agencies that don't give a lead way for these cars for desire consumers. BMW already said it, I'll repeat it for BMW again here NAP. BMW can not CKD or build the i3 or the i8 in Malaysia. Malaysia don't have the skill set or facility for carbon fibre elements.

I was thinking about buying a LOCAL PRIDE ASSEMBLY Passat. I would of thought it will cost in the region of RM150k.

But how wrong I was, RM170k WTF! Probably another profit grabber case here.

I have this car since Monday. Its the best city car I have ever had. This car suite my life style perfectly. I live outside of London about 26 miles (42 km) a way. Commuting about 52 miles (84 km) daily with 50% Highway speed 60mph (100kph) & 50% city speed stop & start.

Nissan claimed it can do 100 miles (160 km) on fully charge. And in reality it didn't happend so far I can only manage 70 miles with the headlight & heating constantly on. But still plenty for me to do my run.

Now the car cost £31k (RM149k). However the UK government give £5k grant for this car reduced it to £26k (RM125). This car price is cost more in other Europe country. However it cost less in the US even in China go for RMB200k thats £20k (RM96k). So looks like not just Malaysia local distributor take their citizen for a spin, now Nissan UK. Brilliant!

I do hope they going on sale in Malaysia this year.

Probably my wish come true in 2012?

"Malaysia’s state-owned investment firm has sold its stake in Proton in a deal worth $410m. No announcement has yet been made over the future of Lotus, which is owned by the struggling carmaker.
Khazanah Nasional sold its 42.7 per cent stake in Proton Holdings to car distributor and importer DRB-Hicom and expects to complete the deal by the second quarter of the year.
DRB-Hicom builds and distributes Mercedes and Volkswagen models, and has eight assembly plants, four of which are for cars. The deal gives DRB control of two plants in Malaysia with a combined capacity of 350,000 units per year.
Lotus expects to make an announcement on its future tomorrow."
