I plan to go to PPUM for eye treatment (glaucoma). Is it better to get a referral letter from outside clinic or go straight to PPUM general clinic? I would like to minimize the cost and waiting time.

Kitchen sink blocked

I live in a condo and the unit above said their kitchen sink is blocked. According to the management office repair guy, he tried using acid but it did not help and need to come to my unit to cut the pipe to clear the blockage. The pipe is located in my unit at the yard area. I think he is not a plumber but just a general repair guy.

Anyone experienced similar issue where they need to cut the pipe to clear the blockage? Is there any other solution besides cutting the pipe as this sound messy and may cause the pipe to leak in the future?

Misc expenses like legal fees, stamp duty, renovation, maintenance fees, insurance, assessment: RM93,200

Is my breakeven price RM373,800?

iMessage sending global SMS for activation

I'm using a foreign SIM card and on roaming with iMessage/Facetime disabled. However I noted it will send a global sms for the iMessage activation silently although the feature is disabled and incurring sms charges.
I read somewhere that rebooting the phone or swapping SIM cards may trigger the activation but I did not perform such activities.

Any idea how to disable the sending of global sms for iMessage?

I am looking for an entry level 40' LED TV.
Currently considering either Panasonic 42' TH-L42E3K or Sharp 40' 40LE530M.
Anyone using these 2 TVs and care to share your opinion?

[addedon]April 13, 2012, 3:18 pm[/addedon]I compared Panasonic TH-L42E3K with Sharp 40LE530M and Sony KDL-40EX520 and found the colors on Panasonic more natural. On Sharp and Sony, pictures appear "whiter". Tested using normal Astro channels.
Finally got the Panasonic TH-L42E3K for RM1.7k. Good deal I think.

Anyone using Panasonic 42' TH-L42E3K here?

Wiring for Water Heater

Hi,

I installed a Panasonic instant water heater and noticed the wire is the small type typically used for Aircon.
One service guy said I should use a thicker wire (2.5) for the water heater.

Can anyone advise if I should change to the 2.5 wire?
Also the plug point for the heater is the rounded one - is this a 15Amp plug?

Can anyone advise what is the best way to transfer funds (above RM10k) from MY to SG?
One option is maybank2u.com but not sure if the exchange rate is good and I think
the maximum amount that can be transferred in a day is only RM5k.
Any other options with competitive exchange rates?

It seems not many shops carry them and most of them sell leather instead of fabric sofa.
I saw some at Red Apple but just wonder if there are any other shops that sell them?

I am considering either PJ-6RF or PJ-37MRF.
I believe PJ-37MRF has more features and cost over RM300.
Is it worth to go for it or just stick with the basic model PJ-6RF?

LED bulbs vs Energy saving bulbs

How many of you are using E27 LED light bulbs instead of normal energy saving bulbs?
I understand a Philips 8W LED bulb with equivalent brightness of 60W cost RM60 while
a regular Philips 8W energy saving bulb with 60W output is around RM10.
So LED is six times more expensive than energy saving bulb with only 3W savings in electricity.
I believe LED has a higher lifespan (>30000 hours) as compared to less than 15000 hours for
energy saving bulb but not sure if LED can really last that long in actual usage.
I was also told that the brightness of enery saving bulbs decrease quicker than a LED bulb.
Is it worth investing in LED or just stick with energy saving bulbs?

Valuation Fees

I bought a condo with loan amount of RM380k and the bank requires a valuation to be done.
I understand the valuation fees are based upon tiered price as below:

I believe discounts are given so I just want to know how much I need to pay for valuation fees based on RM380k?
Can I choose the valuation firm from the bank panel who give the lowest price?

I would appreciate if you could share how much you've paid for your valuation fees and your loan amount.
