CNY has left a bitter taste in my mouth

I envy those who have good closely knit family, but for me I always dread going back for CNY.

As one of the least successful person in the family who is just getting by, many siblings, cousins, uncles, aunties who have more wealth view my family with subtle contempt. Sometimes it much more obvious, sometimes less, but it is always there. Like 'cannot see up me' or 'see mean you'.

Just the way they treat and talk to others they deem 'worthy' compare to how they do to me and a few others is obvious. If people they see as 'equal' or 'better' ask them stuff, they answer no problem like normal folks. If I ask or reply, the way they respond always somewhat condescending. Think like "you cannot afford one lah. you are talking above your paygrade" or "you cannot one lah, talk for what".

Many are kiasu trying to one-up others without know it. One person buy 2nd hand BM, then the next imply buy X3 or maybe M3 cash I don't remember the details but very powerful car, then another one say he import conti car overseas under 10k mileage need to pay how many tens of thousands to customs. Then another say go Japan eat what restaurant. Ask them how much, reply don't look at cost, just pay only. Bring what snack also boasting import the best quality from China, you bring food they will indirectly say is cheap shite compare to their expensive limited edition jerky or whatever snack, tea leaves from the highlands. Feels like "Lords Looking Down On Peasants" meme. Shameful from my pov, but who am I so say.

Damn shame it is like this because they will treat strangers (at least in the beginning) with more respect than they do their own family.

Why are people like this? If not for parents, I long already push back and cut contact, but I just keep quiet to not make a scene for parents.

Anyone also experience like this? or maybe it is just me I know many in this forum are high earners.

Unker just watched movie. Oklah, expected for movie to be rushed, not much time to develop characters and weak motivations, but overall, not bad.

All male actors still quite hensem. Female actress still ok. Some aged a lot compared to when younger. Jessica still natural.

Too bad they killed off Michael miu and Gaille.

Also hide the time travel device under well to tease possibility for another movie in future.

Panasonic Table Fan sounds like a jet engine

Had this table fan for over a decade now. These days the motor sounds like a jet engine when running on speed 1. Hurting my ears also. wear earphone also cannot hear unless max volume.

Anyone got a guide on how to do maintenance? like what greese/oil to buy and where to apply?

It is still working. Seems like waste to throw it away so want to repair and use if can.

What do I even look for, they all look about the same to me.

I'm not expecting maximum anti-cut protection. Just want something that is decent - Unique key, key won't easily break, keyhole won' easily loose, the lock mechanism itself doesn't easily get loose and can tahan the industry expectation of opening/closing multiple times day.

Best Prepaid Plans with generous hotspot quota?

I'm currently using Umobile GX30 with RM5 Hotspot Add On. Speed is 6Mbps. It is usable, but struggles during peak hours and when downloading large files or streaming video chat.

Used to have a separate line for Unifi Bebas back when they offered unlimited hotspot quota, but now they only offer 10GB hotspot quota.

Any recommendations on the Prepaid plans with Hotspot quota of at least 100GB a month?

Was browsing around shoppe and found HP Victus 16 variant with R5 8645HS, 16GB ram and rtx4050 dgpu for around 3.5k. only complaints I have are the thick bezels, V logo and empty space at the edge of the screen lid that makes it standout like an alien laptop: https://my.shp.ee/fQQiK3S

Otherwise, the specs seem like a steal for Ryzen and dgpu for general usage with some light gaming and video editing.

Seems a bit too good to be true. Any thoughts on this? It is a good deal? Any other models that compete with this one?

Questions on setting up sole proprietorship

Hi all, a few questions on setting up a sole prop online through SSM EzBiz https://ezbiz.ssm.com.my/

1. Does it make sense to start a sole-prop if I currently make under RM500 in side hustle income every month in addition to normal employment income?

2. Are there any disadvantages to having a sole prop even when there is zero business income? as in the sole prop is dormant. Per my understanding, it seems that the only disadvantage is the yearly renewal fee. Otherwise, advantages include being able to claim Capital Expenditure on purchased business assets (Computer Equipment, Phone, mv, etc)

3. If I register a sole-prop under my name. Will I be able to add a trade name later on? and if there are any invoices billed out, can I both use my name and trade name interchangeably?

4. If I open an SME bank account to receive the side income, is this money considered mine to be used as if it were my personal income, or it is considered company money that I need to pay back?

5. As a sole prop, do I need to prepare actual financial statements? I ask because there are sections to input business losses and p&l/bs items in Borang B, but per my understanding, a sole prop isn't an actual company like an sdn bhd.

6. If I don't need to prepare accounts, then those sections in Borang B will be left blank?

7. Without financial statements, can I still claim Capital Allowance on purchase of equipment? Say I purchase a laptop and phone for business use, do I just keep the purchase invoice/receipt and input 40% of the purchase price into Borang B as a deductible.

8. How would other expenses like Utilities, Petrol, Parking, Entertainment be recorded? just keep the receipts, total together in excel and claim a percentage?

9. If I receive USD in a personal multi currency account and only remit a portion of it back to MYR to my sole prop SME bank account, do I need to prepare any special documentation? or It is enough to just have both bank statements and an excel sheet with the foreign calculation of the USD amount received.?

Bathroom faucet is leaking. How do I replace it?

Per image below, the faucet is dripping water even when the handle is shut.

How do I remove this part for replacing? do I turn the handle circled in red the direction way? or do I unscrew the round cylinder circled in blue below handle? both seem to be tight in place though.

Planning to bring the removed part to DIY or spare parts shop for reference to get new one.

Thoughts on getting a used rx6600?

Originally thought of picking up an rx 580 8gb 2048sp for around rm200 for low budget gaming, but was advised against it as they are eol and likely well used and near dying.

In this case, what area your thoughts on a used rx6600 going for around rm600 to rm700. There are quite a few of these for sale on carousel. The sellers don't specify, but these are likely ex mining units that have been cleaned and stress tested, and then packed in a new box.

Would these be a good deal?

There are lots of these on Shoppee and Lazada selling for under RM250. Per YouTube reviews it seems to function well enough for budget gaming, etc. My only concern is durability, will it last another 3 to 5 years? Most reviews are positive, but I have come across a few people reporting that the card is artifacting or just dying after a few months of use.

Anyone using this card can share their experience?

Late 30s with no real prospects

Per title and description, I'm a late 30s uncle with no real prospects thinking of going to SG.

I currently have no career, no assets, no car, no money and no real friends.

My main motivations for going to SG is SGD, and to be able to start fresh in a new environment. At the very least, before my ageing parents pass on, I'd like to be able to treat and bring them somewhere nice without going broke. After that I'd like to be able to get my own place, and then live the rest of my miserable life as a hermit waiting to die alone.

For the past ~5 years, I've been doing application support, manual testing and implementation/onboarding. I have no real hard skills to speak of, but I can do basic troubleshooting, basic SQL queries and can hack together a basic website (HTML, CSS, JS). I'm also actively learning programming from web dev in my own time and am looking into getting some IT certs overtime to boost my credentials - I am aware of the distinction between programming and IT, but at this point, as a nobody I'm aiming wide, hoping to be able to land anything related.

My current role pays me RM3k, and I'm able to comfortably save roughly 1k per month. So, I'm thinking if I can get a related role in SG with similar pay in, I may also be able to save ~1k SGD per month.

Would this be reasonable?

Expected pay: 3k SGD

Expected Expenses:
1. Rent: 1.1k (Single Room with proper table so that I can self-study during my time-off)
2. Food: 600? (I'm thinking a mix of zap fan and chicken rice, maybe getting a rice-cooker for simple cooking every other day)
3. Other: 500 (MRT, Phone and Misc Expenses)

That leaves me with roughly ~800SGD savings per month.

Is this a reasonable expectation as a late 30s unker with no real skills? Or am I better off staying in Malaysia?
