Why DELL 640 or Why DELL 6400

Hi,
I'm in urgent need to buy either one of these DELL:
- 640
- 6400
I saw the difference seems to be only in dimensions of display (14 against 15.4")
I'm using my laptop mostly in travel so 14" should be more suitable but I saw that many prefer the 6400.
Can someone explain in simple words what made your choice ?
Can either one be used as desktop replacement (for office application only)?
Thanks
D.

PS: I was considering also the new XPS 12" with Intel Core 2 Duo but 12" is too small for me. But I'm really attracted by that new CPU and 1 GB ram!
