The biggest news however is probably fact that Nikon resisted the temptation to keep chasing megapixels (hooray for that) and instead appear to have concentrated on what makes a good camera, a decent viewfinder, short shutter lag, very short viewfinder blackout. They've trimmed some of the 'less important features' (you can't change the exposure steps for example) but have squeezed a range of new features such as custom Auto ISO which we welcomed with the D80.

Review of D40
Dpreview of Nikon D40
Ken Rockwell's Review

D40x

QUOTE

The Nikon D40 was announced just under four months ago, and yet here we are with a new version of that camera. The D40X has the same compact lightweight body and easy to use control layout, in fact the only external physical difference is the badge. Under the bonnet Nikon has swapped out the D40's six megapixel CCD for a ten megapixel unit, this also provides a lower base sensitivity of ISO 100 and must utilize dual readout because continuous shooting frame rate has gone up from 2.5 fps to 3.0 fps. Based on the specs and features this camera is clearly aiming to knock the EOS 400D (Digital Rebel XTi) off its pedestal.

D40x specifications

D60

QUOTE

D60 is a 10.2MP digital camera that will look and feel remarkably familiar to users of the D40X.
Introducing new Samsung SGH-i900

Samsung has officially unveiled the SGH-i900. Codenamed Omnia, the SGH-i900 will come with either 8GB or 16GB internal storage. This beast runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, sports a Marvell PXA312 main processor running at 624 MHz, has 3G/HSDPA/GPS/Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/GPRS/GSM/USB/EDGE connectivity options, a built in 5 megapixels camera with onboard flash and has 256MB ROM and 128MB RAM. The good news is that the 16GB version will be available at $1,098 which is the same retail price as the HTC Touch Diamond. I will see this as a great competitor for both the HTC Touch Diamond and the Apple iPhone 3G.

http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/handhelds/0,3...3574746p,00.htm

QUOTE

Update: Samsung has officially announced the i900 as the Omnia. This will come in 16GB and 8GB versions, while the rest of the specs remain the same for both. The 16GB version will first be available at S$1,098 and those interested will be able to buy one right after CommunicAsia on June 17 from stores and operators. From the images provided by Samsung, the Omnia will come with the widget interface which we have seen in other devices like the Samsung SGH-F480--the difference is that this will be the company's first Windows Mobile phone to sport it.

Leaked images and specifications have led to much speculation about the new Samsung SGH-i900, a Windows Mobile 6.1 PDA-phone. We had one in our hands for a few brief moments, and bring you this quick and dirty hands-on.

When we put it beside an iPhone (see more pictures of that after the jump), it was uncanny how similar its shape was to Apple's product. It's thicker than the iPhone but shorter in length. Typically Samsung, the i900 feels solidly built and has a brushed metal finish all around.

Most of the specifications posted online have been accurate. The i900 does indeed come with HSDPA, 16GB internal storage, a 5-megapixel camera and runs Windows Mobile 6.1. Aside from that, we also know it has a 624MHz Marvell processor, 128MB of RAM and haptic feedback.

For the uninitiated, haptic feedback in a mobile phone is designed to make the feeling of pressing an onscreen virtual button more realistic. If you use your finger on the i900, it buzzes slightly to let you know it has registered that touch. This was very useful when we tried out the custom Samsung text input applications--making it almost like typing on a real keypad.

Like the SGH-i780, the i900 also has an optical sensor for a directional pad. This can be used in two modes--as a regular four-way directional pad or as an onscreen mouse pointer. Pressing on this optical sensor selects.

Though we were not able to get pictures of the custom interface, Samsung seems pretty confident of the i900's usability with just fingers. We know this because the i900 doesn't have a stylus slot. It still has a stylus, but this is attached to the carrying case that will be bundled with the device.

An orientation sensor is built into the i900. When rotated, it does this fancy transition whereby the display shrinks and expands back to fill the screen in a different orientation. The 240 x 400 display does seem a little weird, but is not unheard of--we've seen it in the ASUS M930's internal display. It makes sense, too, if you are to use it as a media player because the aspect ratio is much closer to the 16:9 aspect ratio commonly seen in movie files. To that end, the i900 also comes with a media application that supports DivX and Xvid out of the box.

This device will be available soon, we believe. Surely Samsung will not delay it and let the HTC Touch Diamond hog the limelight. Our source suggested that it will be priced similar to the Diamond, which has an RRP of S$1,098.

Acer laptop charging not consistent

I'm using acer aspire 1692 with windows vista ultimate. Few days ago, my laptop suddenly went crazy as the charging process is not consistent. When my laptop being charged, the brightness of the LCD will bcome brighter and vice versa. I noticed this phenomenom because as the brightness of the LCD become bright and dark alternatively, indicating that the charging process is disrupted. When I took out the battery, my laptop will switched on for a while and turn off after that. I have checked that adapter and it's ok. The strange thing is when I turned off my laptop, then the charging process is ok. That means this situation only occur when the laptop is switched on. So any help and advice is appreciated.
