Least Smelly Insecticide..

Hi, anybody here knows which brand of insecticide that smells the least? The spray ones, I mean... the ones I've bought so far smells horrid, am looking for one that doesn't smell when sprayed..

OR, better still, you guys have a smell-less solution for killing ants and making them stop coming to a certain spot or area?

Learning Music without the Instrument

I want to send my daughter to learn piano. However, we don't have a piano at home, and probably won't buy one, at least for until next year or so. Question is, is it a good idea to send her for classes yet not provide her with the instrument at home to practice with?

I can send her later (when we do have the piano) but I was just thinking of give her a head start or something -- she's in Standard 1 and she doesn't have much to do, hence her BFF is Spongebob. I don't want her to go for tuition classes lah, reading classes lah, etc, was thinking more along the lines of exposing her to art and music.

What are your opinions? Thanks.

Suspension

I have a few questions regarding suspension...

1 - Can an employer suspend an employee before the investigation of a misconduct is properly carried out/completed? 'Cos I read in some Employment and Industrial Relations book, the employer cannot suspend before the investigation is done. But the reason given for the suspension is so that the said employee will not "disturb" the investigation and the employee will be given full salary (not sure on whether or not the suspension record will be in the employee's personnel files, which will affect future promotion, increment etc) and the general public (i.e. the rest of the ppl in the organizations) is told that the employee is taking leave.

2 - Employment Act and Contract of Service -- the Act trumps the Contract whenever the Contract is entailing something less than what the Act states, right? Any HR ppl can clarify this?

2nd Opinion

I just wanna ask, if a patient asks a doctor for a referral letter to get a 2nd opinion, is the doctor obligated (by law or hippocratic oath or what not) to give the referral letter? Or can the doc just ignore and refuse to give the referral letter?

--the 2nd opinion is from another doc in another hospital..

Heya, just wanna find out what's your take on this matter.

Would you add your boss on Facebook, Friendster, Myspace etc?

I've friends who say they don't wanna add, cos it's for their personal network, don't want boss to see them partying etc. I understand that. But come on, things you put online, eventhough the setting may be 'private', you cannot just naively accept that that will always be the case...

And oh yeah, another thing. I've heard that it's now a common practice for hiring managers to look up a potential employee in these social networking sites to suss their suitability to the position. What's your take on that? Is that fair?

Key Performance Indicator

hey guys, appreciate ur help here.. i'm new to KPIs, and is supposed to complete mine ASAP (what else is new.. )

my question for those of you who've done KPIs (the balanced scorecard thingy), can the objective for the different perspectives be repeated?

for instance, an objective first mentioned under the "customer" perspective, can it be repeated in the "internal process" perspective as well?

and one more thing, how do u guys usually rate or put the target for the objectives under the "customer" perspective, cos i read that it's suggested that we put percentage..

hope i'm not confusing you guys. thanks in advance for the help.

yes, i am aware that different companies have different performance appraisals method, KPIs etc, but the basic idea of the balanced scorecard is pretty much the same, i think, and my question is related to that.

hey.. anybody been blacklisted by jobstreet?
do they inform you if you've been blacklisted by any companies?
or will the info only be available to the employer's side?

a friend is looking for a job, one of his avenues is jobstreet..
he skipped one interview as he has some part time job lined up and sometimes was informed at the last minute..
so, he's a bit worried that he's been blacklisted by them..

hi.. am still not sure if this is the right sub-forum to park this..
but i'd like to know if anybody can help me with the above matter..

i am part of an internet radio station [attached with a uni]
and we're looking to rent [rent first, buy later if compatible] equipment for mini studio...
we're targeting to rent these equipment for one or two days in december [7-8th Dec] in KL..
but still, we'd still like to test run the whole thing first before the actual date..

mini studio here, as in, broadcasting our programme outside of our studio..
some things to note, we broadcast via the internet and we have the server/streaming equipment already..
all we need is the audio equipment - mics, mixers, headphones etc - compatible with the system we have..

so, i'd really appreaciate it if you guys can help out..
if you've any contacts or if you yourself supply these equipment, pls PM me..
i'll give you a call and clarify the whole thing over the phone..

Not under any contract

hi.. am hoping you guys can help me out a bit..

in my current employment, i am currently not under any contract..
the contract i had earlier ended in may..
now i hv another better offer..

my question is..
do i hv to tender my resignation according to the old contract? [meaning 1 month notice]
or can i just tender a notice with a shorter period of time [24hrs, 1 week]?

the matter is resolved.. the old company didn't renew my contract because [quote/unquote] "why you didnt say anything to us?"
well, i did say something to them, in the form of a resignation letter, 2 days notice..
they cut my salary, in lieu of the days i owe them i suppose, although i did not take any leave during my time with them..

long story short, i am now happy working in my new place..
better pay, reasonable workload and definitely better prospect..
am currently working in OUM.. under Meteor Group of Companies..
excellent place..

hi, just wanna ask if you guys have had the same problem or know what's going on..
[btw, i've seen a doctor (private clinic), told her abt it, she didn't even bat an eyelash (time to change doctors..)]

sometimes, when i wake up in the morning, there'll be dried blood on my teeth (near the gum area)..
there are no wounds or anything, and it doesn't bleed anymore (i just hv to wash off the dried blood, brush teeth)..
i wondered if it's stress-related, whether or not because i grit my teeth when i'm sleeping..
but hubby said he never heard anything 'extraordinary' when i'm sleeping (he's kind of a lite sleeper)..

fyi, i am deathly afraid of dentists... (and i'd rather it be something stress-related.. just so i don't hv to see a dentist..)

anybody has the same problem? or know whats going on?
