Manchester City have been crowned champions of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

The Citizens headed into the weekend knowing that a victory over Chelsea on Sunday would be enough to secure the title, but as it turned down, they didn't even need to play to seal their triumph as Arsenal's slip-up against Nottingham Forest on Saturday meant the Gunners could no longer climb back into top spot.

City, who still have three games left to play, will lift the Premier League trophy on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola has now won five Premier League titles since moving to England, while this is the seventh time that City have got their hands on the trophy.

Graham Potter has been relieved of his duties by Chelsea after Saturday's disastrous 2-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa.

The Chelsea boss had signed a long-term deal at the club in September, replacing Thomas Tuchel at the helm after Todd Boehly opted to axe the Champions League winner after defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

Since then, however, things haven't exactly gone to plan for the former Brighton boss. Having lost 10 games in the Premier League already this season, the Blues sit in 11th in the table, and they have struggled to score goals under Potter - a problem he encountered at times during his time on the south coast.

Boehly had been to keep faith with Potter, wanting to give him time to turn things around, but a unanimous decision has been made to part company after goals from Ollie Watkins and John McGinn earned Unai Emery's Villa a thoroughly deserved win at Stamford Bridge.

The club have now confirmed the decision to let Potter leave: "Chelsea FC has announced that Graham Potter has departed the club. Graham has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition.

"In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter final of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future."

Several Chinese graduate students have invented a plain-looking, low-cost coat that can hide the human body, day or night, from security cameras monitored by AI, according to the team.
The InvisDefense coat can be seen by human eyes but is covered in a pattern that blinds cameras in the day and sends out unusual heat signals at night, according to the team.

Their work won first prize in a creative work contest on November 27 sponsored by Huawei Technologies Co as part of the China Postgraduate Innovation and Practice Competitions.
The project was overseen by Professor Wang Zheng, of the school of computer science at Wuhan University, and the developers’ paper on the invention has been accepted by AAAI 2023, a top academic conference on artificial intelligence.

“Nowadays, many surveillance devices can detect human bodies. Cameras on the road have pedestrian detection functions and smart cars can identify pedestrians, roads and obstacles. Our InvisDefense allows the camera to capture you, but it cannot tell if you are human,” Wang said.
During the day, cameras often detect human bodies through motion recognition and contour recognition. Bearing a specially designed camouflage pattern on its surface, the InvisDefense can interfere with the recognition algorithm of machine vision, effectively blinding the camera so it cannot identify the wearer as a person.
At night, the camera tracks human bodies through infrared thermal imaging. Irregularly shaped temperature-controlling modules nestled on the inner surface of InvisDefense create an unusual temperature pattern that confuses the infrared camera.

“The most difficult part is the balance of the camouflage pattern. Traditionally, researchers used bright images to interfere with machine vision and it did work. But it stands out to human eyes, making the user even more conspicuous,” said Wei Hui, a PhD student in the team who was responsible for the core algorithm.
“We use algorithms to design the least conspicuous patterns that can disable computer vision.”

Sir Jim Ratcliffe expected to bid for Man Utd after Glazers decision

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to launch a bid for Manchester United following confirmation from the Glazer family that the club is on the market for either a full or partial takeover.

Ratcliffe, commonly referred to as Britain’s richest man, had previously confirmed his interest in buying the club he has supported since childhood during the summer.

The petrochemicals billionaire, who founded INEOS and already owns OGC Nice in France, had been part of the bidding process for Chelsea but lost out to Todd Boehly’s consortium after submitting an offer after the deadline set by broker Raine Group had passed.

After a spokesperson for Ratcliffe in August confirmed ‘Jim is definitely a potential buyer’ should the club be for sale, the man himself later backed away and publicly conceded in October that the Glazers ‘don’t want to sell’.

Ratcliffe was also linked with a takeover of Liverpool more recently but INEOS appeared to rule themselves out of any move into Premier League football, declaring instead that the group’s focus remains on developing Nice into a domestic rival for Paris Saint-Germain in France.
