Used market, can we still get a deal?

Looking at the garage sales, it's now doing better for CPU/mobo but the display card section is still in a hyperinflated state where sellers are trying to convince buyers that these are the current prices and buyers are holding on to their cash, waiting for a decent deal. Gap between the buyer willingness and seller's desires are pretty sizeable, as illustrated below:

[attachmentid=11059840]

Sellers should understand that buyers are not always trying to lowball them, but just coming from their pre-2020 POV. Do your market research and not just based on the higher prices in the forum. Items will eventually depreciate in value. One way to know is when you are not able to sell after 2-3 weeks of thread bumping.

Buyers should also know that sellers could have higher buying prices to begin with, and not willing to make a large loss. But if you can wait, just look around for a better deal. Don't be salty and comment "Overpriced" or posting irrelevant replies. You could PM them but be prepared to be ignored.

Learn to nego politely rather than stand firm on prices and ignore PMs. If a deal goes through, seller can have cash to do what they need to, while buyers can have the part that they can enjoy.

What do you all think?

When do gamers upgrade?

This is not a marketing survey. Just wondering what gamers would do with the tonnes of choice on the market.

Personally for GPU I upgraded from GTX460 to GTX1050Ti and then to GTX 1070Ti when prices are reasonable. But stayed with my i5-2700k for quite a while...

Coming 18 months would be interesting as Nvidia releasing 5-8 models in the span of a year, and AMD doing maybe 3-5 models (RX590, Radeon VII, upcoming NAVI?)

Are you holding on to your money or let them have it?

So far only tried in Garage Sales.

Open subforum (eg Camera lens or full system) then enter keyword below to filter/search forum (eg Kuching).

Results with keyword (in this case, Kuching) listed as before, but can't advance to next page of results.

Windows XP on a Socket 7 mobo

Yeah. Well this is a project in my free time to try rejuvenating some ancient hardware. Ran into some problems so need your input on this.

First off, hardware specs:

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-5AX
Proc: AMD K6-2 500MHz
RAM: 640 MB SDRAM (256+256+128)
HDD: Quantum Fireball 10GB IDE, also Seagate 20GB
VGA: Geforce 256 32MB AGP
DVD: BenQ 24x
PSU: Powerlogic 450W (230W)

Process:
Hardware assembled, taking precautions against static electricity
Hard disk and dvd drive detected, boot into Windows XP CD
Drivers loaded, select to install
Hard disk formatted into NTFS, then continue with copying of Windows installation files
Boot up as prompted
Did not press key to boot into CD, proceed to boot from hard disk
Error message saying hard disk not found/improperly connected.

already changed IDE cables as well as trying with another hard disk...
Similar error with windows 7 attempt

Both hard disks had been checked with another rig. No bad sectors noted.

Previously this rig boots up fine with a hard disk previously installed with Windows ME (taken from yet another ancient rig)

Question is... Is the motherboard incompatible with ntfs?
Or could it be some other issues?

Thanks for your input.
