QUOTE

Hi editor,

I applied for some jobs and one of the HR called me up. She asked if I am able to accept a salary of $1600 before CPF.

What the hell, my previous drawn salary was $2100 AFTER CPF deduction. It was like giving me a slap across my face. I even have relevant experience for this position and they are offering me so little?!

She says that if I will not accept $1600, she will call up the other candidate. I tried to bargain up the offer to $1800 but she wouldn't even entertain.

I know from the interview that the other candidate is an FT who is willing to accept $1700. He does not even need to deduct CPF.

If I don't have to deduct CPF I would gladly accept $1700 as a take home pay loh, please lah.

It's a small company not even a big MNC, still want to discriminate against Singaporeans. Shows how farked up as a country we have become when foreigners are replacing us Singaporeans slowly one by one.

Letter by Ashton Lan

http://www.allsingaporestuff.com/article/c...ause-ft-cheaper

Sinkies also losing their jobs in bad times...

Bangla willikng to take job for less.
Clarifications On TM Billing GST Charges

Before GST

1) Prior to the introduction of GST, all TM internet broadband plans(Streamyx Combo deals & UniFi) were excluded from SST(service taxes).

It is believed that those prices were already included with taxes and agreed upon with the government as part of the government's national broadband adoption initiatives.

2) Only VAS/off-net per minute calls were imposed with SST. Due to these services oftenly made up a small portion of the bill charges, SST taxes imposed on them were oftenly almost negligible amouting to only a few cents(~RM1) due to the amount incurred were mostly averaging around RM10-20 (off-net calls/VAS) for most home usage.

Most home users and consumers only use TM fixed lines to call other TM fixed line for UNLIMITED nationwide calls. For off-net calls, they prefer using mobile lines for the conveniences involved. Moreover, many mobile operators today have already started offering "unlimited call plans" such as Maxis ONE plan or other big generous voice call bundles.UNLIMITED voice calls are dirt cheap today since many mobile networks have gone the NGN full IP/IMS data packet routes.

3) In addition to this, back in Tun Abdullah and Tun Dr. M days, Malaysians had broadband rebates of RM500 to be discounted from annual income taxes reporting. Only in the recent 2 years, this broadband rebate was also removed resulting in even "more burden to consumers".

My case for example(Before GST):

I subscribed to a 2M Streamyx Combo plan with a month total of RM140 every month with almost ZERO off-net calls made on my fixed line since I rarely use it anyway. If you subtract my Combo Deal plan out, that's around RM10 for my VAS/off-net calls. How much is 6% SST before the GST introduction?

6% of RM10(only for VAS/off-net call charges) = just a mere 60sen.

SST = 60sen

Introduction of GST

1) With the multimedia/broadband charges making up a LARGE portion of home consumers billing, there was a big opportunity for fixed line providers like TM to benefit much from the introduction of GST out of nothing.

TM fixed line monthly plans(both Streamyx Combo deals & UniFi) is around RM150 for ARPU. 6% of RM150 is a FREE windfall of RM9 averaging from every user for NOTHING.

Take my case for example(Now):

Now that the GST has been implemented, my entire combo plan plus calls/VATs are now counted towards GST.
6% of RM140(RM130-Streamyx Combo Plan + RM10-VAS/off-net calls) = RM8.40

GST = RM8.40 (Tax increased by 1400% or 14X)

Who says there's no truth behind the myth of price increase in TM bill charges? Who says GST is just a mere replacement of SST component?

If every subscriber blindly contributes RM10 on average "buta-buta" every month, out of the millions consumer base where is this additional tax money going?

It is obviously a HIDDEN act of inflation and robbing of public in disguise.

Our countrywide HSBB Phase 2 infrastructure upgrades is believed to be halted undefinitely and obviously an
excuse to increase their charges to force consumers to pay even more now?

Have Malaysian Customs and Tax depts saw through this or are they closing a blind eye pretending there's nothing going on?

Malaysian Mobile Prepaid Registration Safe?

Is Malaysian Prepaid Mobile Registration Considered Safe?

I've seen phone shops and online auction sites only requiring you to email them or provide them your I/C no, Full Name(As per IC) and Address to activate your line.

I mean how can this allowed to happen? If anyone gets their hands on other people's personal info through scam contest forms, social marketing, data mining and reuse other previously confirmed info, can register lines under other people's name without much effort.

Worst case, the lines registered under someone's else name is used for criminal activities such as drug trafficking and threat calls. How? The police will be pursuing the wrong suspect all the time.

From my experience in other countries, prepaid registration can only be done in 1st party telco centres with strict policies on individuals. Registration CANNOT BE done by 3rd party mobile phone shops and dealers.

1) Citizens must have PPID and their physical ICs verified in person by the telco. A copy must be produced, crossed and kept for registration purposes.

2) Visitors and Tourists must produce a physical copy of their passports and a supporting document such as their national identity cards or driving licence for strict verification and match. They mst be photocopied and crossed for documentation as well.

In Malaysia, it is not difficult to acquire people's personal details for such things considering we have so rampant contest gimmicks such as contest form entries, membership registrations and paid surveys everywhere.

Anyone noticed this flaw but telcos just pretending nothing is happening?

The Rothschild family was the main driving force in the creation of the state of Israel.

Being the controller of world money and the richest bank in the world at that time funding World Wars on both sides, they made the British sold them the land in the Middle East with the excuse of establishing a home state for the Jewish people.

The Balfour Declaration justified Lord Rothschild’s purchase of the land for the post-WWII establishment of Israel. Israel was to serve as a Jewish homeland and a lynchpin in Rothschild/Eight Families control over the world’s oil supply. Baron Edmond de Rothschild built the first oil pipeline from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean to bring BP Iranian oil to Israel. He founded Israeli General Bank and Paz Oil. He is considered by many the father of modern Israel.

This was proven with the Balfour Declaration document letter:

Mayer Rothschild placed a red hexagram on top of his house's door which he used to mark his residence:

Today it became the symbol for Israel's flag with its the colour turned blue.
It wasn't offending even to the local Malaysians as well as the Muslim communities since it's an eye opener to them. The Orthodox Jews have been friends of the Muslim communities even to the extent that they were invited personally by the Iranian president himself.

So please reconsider your decision for removing the mentioned thread previously made by me.

Thank you.

US College Student Plotted Attack

QUOTE

James Oliver Seevakumaran (pictured), a college student with two guns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and a backpack filled with explosives pulled a dorm fire alarm Monday in an apparent attempt to force other students out in to the open so that he could slaughter them, authorities said. But he instead put a bullet in his head as police closed in.

Seevakumaran, 30, was found dead in his dorm room at the 51,000-student Orlando campus of the University of Central Florida. No one else was hurt.

“His timeline got off,” university Police Chief Richard Beary said. “We think the rapid response of law enforcement may have changed his ability to think quickly on his feet.”

Some 500 students were evacuated from the building in the middle of the night, unaware how narrowly they had escaped what could have been another Virginia Tech-style bloodbath.

“It could have been a very bad day here for everybody. All things considered, I think we were very blessed here,” Beary said. “Anybody armed with this type of weapon and ammunition could have hurt a lot of people here, particularly in a crowded area as people were evacuating.”

Police shed no light on a motive, but university spokesman Grant Heston said that before the episode, the school was in the process of removing Seevakumaran from the dormitory because he hadn’t enrolled for the current semester. He had never been seen by university counselors and had no disciplinary problems with other students, Heston said.

Detectives found notes and other writings that indicated Seevakumaran had carefully planned an attack and “laid out a timeline of where he was going to be and what he was going to do,” Beary said.

http://newsone.com/2289727/james-oliver-seevakumaran/

Sigh...RIP Kumar..

Your Favorite ‘Journalist’ On BN Payroll?

Is Your Favorite ‘Journalist’ on the Malaysian Government’s Payroll? Maybe

QUOTE

BuzzFeed's Rosie Gray today drops news that a number of people writing for a whole host of websites across the political spectrum were doing so on behalf of the Malaysian government. And for their work they were paid handsomely. In other words, they were secretly pawning off talking points from the Malaysian government as their own in exchange for money. This is how some journalists get paid now.

In 2011, then-Politico political reporter Ben Smith accused conservative writer Josh Treviño of working on behalf of special interest groups in Malaysia. Trevino fired back, "I was never on any 'Malaysian entity's payroll,' and I resent your assumption that I was."

Fast forward two years, and today we have Treviño's Foreign Agent Registration Statement [PDF], filed in late January, which states clearly that from 2008 to 2011, Treviño received hundreds of thousands of dollars from "the Government of Malaysia, its ruling party, or interests closely aligned with either." In return, Treviño offered blogging services at a now defunct website, MalaysiaMatters.com, and the promise to "generate and secure placement of opinion pieces in US media." Also named in the filing as "independent contractors" were people like Ben Domenech and Rachel Ehrenfeld, who were paid $36,000 and $30,000, respectively, for "opinion writing." These independent contractors were tasked with writing freelance pieces that propagandized for the Malaysian government and attacked opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, and then publishing them in places like the National Review and the San Francisco Examiner and the Huffington Post.

Treviño lost a column with the Guardian last year for his ties to Malaysia, but both he and Domenech allege there was nothing too underhanded about what they were doing (emphasis ours):

http://gawker.com/5987943/is-your-favorite...s-payroll-maybe

Anyone recently saw the Malaysian self praising ad inside the recent The Economist Magazine about a month ago? They paid The Economist to write a good review about our country for the entire page and a small line writes: "Ad Section"

Makes me also think is this Yuna turban head singer in the US also another publicity stunt paid with scandalous amount? Psy's Gangnam Performance?

TM HSBB Expansion To Slowdown & Halt

Sorry not to disappoint anyone here but expansion of TM Unifi now is very unlikely to take place any more unless you plan to move into some new high end housing development that made a pact with TM for the private partnership program. Most of these housing developers who made the private partnership program for HSBB are selling homes which will never be afforded by the middle class or lower.

As soon as Phase 1 of the HSBB ended on December 2012, the BN government had stopped giving subsidy grants to TM therefore it is expected that fibre expansion works will slow down considerably or come to an eventual halt.

Moody's Research comments:

QUOTE

As a result of the high dividend policy and commitment to return excess cash to shareholders, cash flow metrics will continue to remain inconsistent with the current A3 rating. Furthermore, further HSBB investments will be made by TMB without any government grant, and which will further pressure its cash flow metrics.

March 2013

Source: http://www.moodys.com/research/Moodys-Tele...ions--PR_267330

Those who live in cities such as Georgetown, Ipoh, Malacca, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, I do feel sorry for you all.

So much for the slogan lies that lauds:

Tiada Terpinggir, Tiada Tertinggal

Till now 1.4 million(1.377million ending 2012) out of 29 million* only subscribed to the HSBB project.
What does that translate to? Around only 4.8% benefited from it?

So is 95.2% Tertinggal?

*http://www.indexmundi.com/malaysia/population.html - 29,179,952 (July 2012 est.)

1) Tellabs braces for FTTP(GPON) sales drop-off

QUOTE

Tellabs reported a 13% year-over-year revenue decline in the fourth quarter but warned of a greater drop to come, predicting first-quarter revenue to be down 19% to 26% from a year earlier, to between $345 million and $375 million.

The biggest single driver of that revenue drop is an anticipated decline in sales of optical network terminals (ONTs), the customer premises gear in fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks, Tellabs said. Last April, the vendor opted to walk away from a contract to supply its biggest customer, Verizon Communications, with the next generation of FTTP gear: GPON. And six months later, Tellabs announced it was shifting development away from access equipment such as ONTs, whose thin, and sometimes non-existent, margins have long been a problem for Tellabs.

http://connectedplanetonline.com/residenti...ales-drop-0127/

2) Experts say GPON has limited prospects in Russia due to high costs.

QUOTE

Among the disadvantages of GPON technology, J'son & Partners Consulting named the high cost of the equipment, the need to build the entire network at once, and the relatively long payback period.

"We believe that a switch to GPON technology is unlikely to be widespread due to the high cost of the technology.

http://www.lightwaveonline.com/news/2013/0...high-costs.html

Does Government Administration Works?

Why Government Does Not Work

Read this downloadable material:
http://www.jrbooksonline.com/PDF_Books/why...doesnt_work.pdf

Excerpt From Source:

Government Defined

QUOTE

So what is government? Very simply, it is an agency of coercion.Of course, there are other agencies of coercion — such as the Mafia. So to be more precise, government is the agency of coercion that has flags in front of its offices.

Or, to put it another way, government is society’s dominant producer of coercion. The Mafia and independent bandits are merely fringe competitors — seeking to take advantage of the niches and nooks neglected by the government.

Malaysian Students Return from Down Under to Help Poor Kids

QUOTE

PETALING JAYA: They are home for the holidays, but a few Malaysians studying in Australia are giving up their break as they embark on a project to help underprivileged students from rural schools.

Members of the Malaysian Students Council of Australia's Victoria chapter (Masca Victoria) have created the Inspire Southeast Asia volunteering project under the council's student empowered arm MInspire.

Masca secretary Tan Ying, 21, said the project was to show the council members the plight of students who were not as privileged as them.

Tan, who is a third year media and communication undergraduate at Melbourne University, spoke of how a Form One student in SMK Pulau Indah, where the volunteering project's pilot camp was held last month, was discovered to be highly talented.

The volunteers gave English classes and organised leadership and team-building activities during the three-day camp.

Tan said her participation in the project had shown her how sheltered her life was.

“These underprivileged students are a resilient lot who make the most of whatever little they had or received,” she said.

MInspire chief executive officer Ooi Soo Mei, 21, said she took part in the project because she was always reminded by her parents how lucky she was.

“I was brought up being told that I had to give back to the country by helping those who were not as lucky as me,” said the third year accounting and finance student, who is also studying at Melbourne University.

As for Inspire Southeast Asia project chief executive officer Melissa Azleen Wan Ismail, 23, coming home for the holidays and giving back to the community was her way of showing gratitude for the Public Service Department scholarship that she had been given.

“I am very lucky to have been given a chance to study in Australia and I want to help inspire more students to do well academically,” said the final year chemical engineering student of Melbourne University.

Melissa Azleen said she also wanted to impart to students in Malaysian schools the need to have critical thinking and be outspoken.

She said Masca members would be organising more of such projects for Malaysian students when they come home for the holidays.

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...3642&sec=nation

The Star

Didn't Australian Universities taught them to do charity so that they can improve their CVs and get better acceptance by public? (Self promotion)

Or one should do charity under a low profile without informing the press? If one does charity and needs to tell the world of your effort, then you're actually attempting self glorification?
