Living Near Transmission Tower

Hello everyone, I am seeking for a condo unit (sub-sale) for own stay and upon visiting the unit and checking via Google Maps, I found that there's a high tension cable transmission tower within 200 meters from the balcony of the unit.

I've read multiple articles and 'research' from different sources, some saying that such living circumstances will cause long term negative health effects such as cancer and generally getting sick easily due to the constant EMF and some saying that there's is no proof to any health concerns claiming that the EMF emitted is less harmful than the normal radio waves that we're subjected to every day.

I'm skeptical to the latter point as transmission towers transmit a very large amount of electricity through it.

What is your take on this? Can living near a transmission tower affect one's health negatively?

Thanks.

3 Different Calls with Digi + Maxis CS

So, I am an existing principal postpaid line holder in Digi, I am switching to Maxis to become a supplementary line under my gf's existing Maxis One plan.

We both walked in to a Maxis store yesterday to request for port in but unfortunately the guy in the store only took my gf's IC and recorded her fingerprint and caused an issue with the port in this morning mentioning that the two names isn't matching for a telco port in request.

Then, I proceeded to call Digi 2 times and Maxis once about how do I go about this (I wasn't aware of something called the '3rd party port in' when I called them) and here are the 3 different replies I got from them:

Maxis CS: There's 2 options to this:
1) Call Digi to clarify .
2) Go back to the store to perform 'port in' again as I found out that submitting only my gf's IC isn't sufficient information for a '3rd party port in'.

Digi CS1: There's 2 options to this:
1) Port in as a principal line holder in Maxis only then change to become supp.
2) Change name of my current number at Digi store to my gf's name before porting to Maxis.

Digi CS2: There's 2 options to this:
1) Port in as a principal line holder in Maxis only then change to become supp (Repeating option).
2) Change name of my current number at Digi store to my gf's name BUT in this reply, she will need to subscribe to another Digi postpaid plan after the name change before being allowed to port in Maxis.

It seems that all telcos have under-trained staffs, without much understanding on the processes.

Where to find Display Adhesive?

Hello everyone, I am looking to change my iPhone 7 battery after 2 years + of use, it shows to have 78% from the Settings but based on my usage time, I suppose it is at way lower than that.

So I have two options:
1. Replace my battery at Apple for RM199 at Mac City (takes 1 day approx)
2. DIY replace at a cheaper price (Found this RM36/ battery at a shop in SS15, I have the tools and battery adhesive, but I still lack the Display Adhesive)

Anyone know where I can get a display adhesive from a seller in Malaysia so I can retain the IP67 waterproofing for my phone without the need for international shipping?

Getting it from iFixit costs around RM99 inclusive of shipping (but the shipping costs around RM60 already )

If all costs included to DIY fix is around RM140-RM150, which one would you choose?

Which Telco do you suggest?

Hi guys, I'm currently using Digi postpaid that I subscribed for 2 years with the iPhone 7 package, now that my monthly RM48 contract is over, I'm seeking for another prepaid or postpaid telco to switch to, the signal at where I live, I only get 3G and Digi's signal has been getting worse these days.

So far here's what I've found:
Maxis - too expensive but best coverage of all the telcos in msia
Digi - signal getting worse, albeit decent pricing
Umobile - good offerings, but terrible coverage especially when it comes to data
Celcom - Postpaid is still a little expensive, however the RM50 prepaid plan seems good, but I haven't really heard comments about the signal being that good.

As for other telcos, I am still having doubts as riding on another telco's network mean that your connection is considered second-tier.

Would like to listen to fellow LYN members' suggestions, thanks a lot!

What about a chatbot?

As a person falling into the target audience of "first-time home buyers" for many developments, I find myself being bombarded with crazy amount of property ads online. Of course, I would like to buy a house but not in my current financial status. So, as a person lacking in knowledge about this 'house purchase' thing, all the 'info' I find about finance are through these few website, also comes with a calculator and brief explanation of what term means what.

https://www.iproperty.com.my/financing/mortgage-calculator/
https://loanstreet.com.my/calculator/home-l...duty-calculator
https://www.propertyguru.com.my/mortgage/ca...tgage-repayment

My question: Is it accurate? And how do I know if my desired property uses this formula of calculation?

Why don't companies like iMoney/ CompareHero make an AI chatbot catering to specific property developments to at least solve this issue.

Hmmm..

Residential tenancy act?

KUALA LUMPUR: The proposed Residential Tenancy Act is targeted for implementation in two years’ time to boost the rental market.

National Housing Department senior principal assistant director Noorihan Abd Halim said the first phase, which involves a study and data collection, is expected to be completed this year, while the act will be formulated next year.

“The act will assist us in determining the affordable rent based on location, as well as laws to protect tenant-owner involved in house renting,” she told reporters on the sidelines of the Constructing and Financing Affordable Housing Across Asia Conference here, today.

Noorihan said this is one of the initiatives conducted to assist the younger generation, the bottom 40 per cent of the household income group (B40) and the middle 40 per cent of the household income group (M40) before finding homes to purchase.

“Right now, we do not have a standard in determining whether the houses that are up for rent are affordable or not,” she said.

Noorihan said with the act in place, it will also protect tenants and owners from any dispute that might arise for the duration of the rent, as currently there is no tribunal for issues relating to housing rental.

“The proposed Act will study the standards and benchmark used in the similar Act in New South Wales and Victoria, Australia but will be tailored to local context suitability,” she said.

Earlier, during her presentation, she said Malaysia’s houses are seriously unaffordable with an average market price of RM372,801.00, whereas the annual median yearly average household income is only at RM188,208.00. (Malaysian median monthly average household income is RM5,228.00).

“Based on the multiple median approach, a home is considered affordable if the median home price is less than three times the median household annual income,” she said.

She said that one of the main reasons contributing to the increase in house prices until it reaches “the point of unaffordable” is due to lack of coordination between state and federal authorities.

“Both state and federal governments have powers over lands, which have complicate the matter, which is why we are now in the course of implementing the National Housing Policy (2018-2025) to boost home ownership and affordability,” she said. - Bernama

Read more at https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...kRoFqOA0euIA.99

https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...d-in-two-years/

Big data solving property overhang?

KUALA LUMPUR: A big data system is needed to solve property overhang issue in Malaysia, Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said, adding that such a system will be a 'game changer' for the local property industry.

She said the lack of a big data system has hindered the government in understanding the local housing needs.

"Rest assured that we are working on establishing the big data system as outlined in the National Housing Policy 2.0," she said in her keynote address at the Financing Affordable Housing across Asia Conference here today.

“Once we have this system up and running, we can consolidate the data to see where we are now and allow us to make future projections for housing development, in terms of property type, price and location. This will also be helpful in solving the property overhang issue.”

Data from the Valuation and Property Services Department shows as of September 2018, there are a total of 30,115 unsold residential units amounting to RM19.5 billion in value across Malaysia.

Zuraida said the government is currently in discussion with several international agencies to invest into the local housing market.

She stressed however that these agencies will be participating as financiers to the finished products instead of being developers.

“We are currently in discussions with entities from China, South Korea and Middle East with Cagamas Bhd as a conduit and administrator to the deal,” she said.

“These entities will be able to provide financing schemes to potential buyers at the completion of a project which usually runs between three to five years,” she said.

When asked further, Zuraida said she is keen to secure several memorandum of understandings (MoU) to this end in 2019 itself.

“Even if we secure a deal with these entities this year, it wouldn't be until three to five years till these entities can come up with financing schemes, as they need to wait for the completion of the project,” said Zuraida.

Zuraida said she will most likely accompany Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, China at the end of this month.

“I am looking forward to go to the forum and hopefully will be able to identify three to four agencies to sign MoU with us there,” she said.

https://www.nst.com.my/business/2019/04/475...g-issue-zuraida

Do you get your newborn checked for hearing?

Hey everyone, so one of cousins is having a baby soon and I've stumbled on this website through an ad while browsing the web, I guess I got targeted for searching about baby products to gift my cousin, and I'm wondering if you guys perform hearing screening with your newborn in case your child has hearing problems?
I read that early detection (touchwood) is the best bet to fix the hearing problem as it will affect the baby's learning while growing up.

Any comment from experienced parents would be great.

I've been seeing this Oxwhite ads on Facebook since last year selling pre-ordered white dress shirts.

The prices seem okay and if they deliver what they promise, then it would be a deal for white dress shirts, but I didn't order any being that I have to pre-order.

Would you pre-order? It's not like it's something rare, it' just cheap(er) but not crazily cheap.

And the reviews on their website seem to be fake, what's your take on this?
