Interview : Is this common ?

Hi All,

Is it common that when companies in Malaysia ask you to go for their interview, they said you could claim from them. It is not going overseas, such as from Perlis to Sarawak. Its more like from Perlis to Johor.

When I was told so, I was quite shocked . Any similar experiences?

Interview Agreement

I applied a job using JOBSTREET ( company confidential ad), later a recruitment agency contacted me and arranged an interview for me.

However, I am asked to sign this interview agreement. Below is the clause.

1.1 I understand and agreed that after i signed this agreement in any circumstances WITHOUT properly informed / notified XYZ Recruitment Agency (either in verbal or written form) for cancellation / withdrawal with minimum of 3 working days before the interview (if my interview is arrange in a very short notice which the interview date is less than 3 working days from the date been informed, then i can only cancel / withdraw my interview if only with the reason that i’m not in a good condition (with medical certificate or M/C to prove) OR if i’m under emergency circumstances (for examples, accident, direct family members in any form of emergency matters which doesn’t even able to attend to my current work place and etc) OR with other reason that are agreed and understand by XYZ Recruitment Agency that are considered effective),i agreed to pay the Penalty Fees of RM 200 to XYZ Recruitment Agency within 14 days (1.5% interest per month will be applied on outstanding invoice after the invoice due date) and 5% GST will also be bear by me.

1.2. I understand that XYZ Recruitment Agency will NOT CHARGE me on anything and have NO RIGHT to charge me if i attend the interview as per agreed or if i have properly informed / notified XYZ Recruitment Agency within the minimum period stated above.

1.3. I understand that i only needed to signed this agreement ONCE and the following agreed interview will be applied on the same terms and condition stated in this agreement.

So far I have never heard of interview agreement before and from my understanding by reading the clause, as long as i attend the interview, nothing gonna happen after the interview right ? (NO CHARGES whatsoever).

BTW, i think there are some grammatical errors in the agreement.
Is it worth of using almost 70% of your salary?

Hi, for all the young working adults there,

Here is the dilemma that I am facing currently, with only 24 year old, Is it worth to pay almost 70% of my current salary to get a property/house ? I am going to get help from my parents for the down payment.

My current situation is that I have got no girlfriend, no on-going loan to pay, no bad credit history, still staying with my parents.

I am thinking of getting a property cause I feel like the property price has been escalating and it might be beyond my capability if i wait for few years more.

Feel free to discuss here . I need opinions especially from any person/couples doing the same thing.
