Old House vs New Project same Taman

First off, no right or wrong to this discussion, just people with different views and preferences.

So let's say in the same development/master plan, there is existing completed units sub-sale, and around 5 minutes away by car, the developer has new project launch which will require you to wait < 3 years. Subsale unit is also "outer", nearer to the main roads, and new project a bit more "inside". Just imagine it is 1 extra traffic light for the new project to the main road.

20x75 for RM500k nett, completed 10 years ago
20x70 for RM600k, new project, RM540k nett after discount etc.

Let's assume, in terms of layout, both are 4R3B, can park 2 cars in tandem by default. Slight variation in terms of the floor plan but basically comparable. Of course the old unit has a bit more usable space and 5 feet extra land.

You can see, touch, feel the subsale, you like it, obviously it is a bit old, paint needs to be refreshed. Biggest benefit is you know what exactly you are getting, and price wise it is cheaper by RM40k. And you also seen the neighbours and let's say you are happy with them -- no big dogs barking, don't have neighbour with 6 cars parking the whole road.

Which would you prefer to buy and why?

Shared Bathroom Lock solution

Let’s see if anybody is smart or creative enough to figure this out. Or maybe it’s been solved and I don’t know.

Bathroom is shared with room 1 and room 2.

Currently, inside the bathroom there’s a door knob that can lock. The push button type. Privacy lock. On the room side, there’s a deadbolt to lock it, and you can “unlock” the bathroom door using a screwdriver or a coin.

Problem:
1. person from bathroom 1 uses bathroom. Forgets to unlock door 2.

2. With a screwdriver or coin, can easily unlock the door when someone is showering inside.

Is there a better simple solution? Without fancy electronic locks.

Ideally, when person from room 1 enters to use bathroom, he locks door from room 2 which at the same time locks door 1. When he exits bathroom, he unlocks door 1 which also unlocks door 2.

Anybody rides with full gear all the time?

I never realized that gloves can help so much, less effort needed to handle the clutch and brakes, better control, and of course, comfortable. I have boots as well and ride with it, but they don't look too hard core. Using Five gloves, with the pre-curve.

Haven't gotten riding jeans/pants yet. I noticed a lot of "riding jeans" are just normal jeans and majority of it doesn't have armored lining, just the pocket for the CE pad at the knee and that's it. Which means if you slide on tarmac, you're gonna lose all your skin.

1. Don’t care about practicality. Got god car.
2. Getting the manual, daily drive car but WFH so can avoid jam.
3. Will go track? Maybe. Car is meant to be daily driven 99% of the time. Not for track. Maybe once in 5 years. So track performance is not a main criteria.
4. Will not modify it. Just buy better tyres.
5. Comfort and reliability matters.

If you want to suggest something else no continentals. Reliability is important. Budget <RM300k. I don’t like how the GR Yaris looks so that’s out.

So it seems to boil down to the convertible or the coupe.

MX-5 slightly faster off the line, Toyobaru will eat it after that. Not doing drag races. Just driving on roads.

MX-5 looks and feels more premium inside. Toyobaru looks ok but that infotainment screen with the buttons and knobs look cheap.
