To Jump or Not to Jump?

Dear Guys & Gals

Something has been bothering me lately, hopefully I get some good advice from fellow forumers. I have been working for some years and as each year passes by, the feeling of not wanting to work anymore only grew stronger. Of late, I am a bit impulsive. I have just rejected a job offer that many would yearn for. It's really a dream job that probably comes once in a lifetime. Well, lets cut that short. Also impulsive to the extend that I would like to tender my resignation immediately! Take some time off and figure out what I want to do next with little capital to invest and probably some extras which probably enough to last for half a year. Then it's either make it or break it. Have you ever have the same thinking as I do now? and will you become impulsive enough to suddenly take the plunge?

Inside of my head, I am probably thinking of that and maybe those with the same situation as I do now that have taken the plunge, we could pull resources together and start something. Whatever it is!

dessert business

i have a Thai friend who was once very successful with a high paying job but due to economic downturn and some reasons he lost everything. he started a small scale business selling dessert back in Thailand. each day he would sell up to 500 cups(plus minus) walking up to countless of people at hawker centers, on the street and even in the market. wherever he goes, whoever he sees, he approaches. each cup for about 25 Thai Baht (approximately RM2.50).

i was there in Thailand and paid him a visit, although it was a tiring thing to do but he found his satisfaction. the money is good, although he now employs people to help him out he stills go around selling by himself. Will you buy if someone approaches you with the same thing while you're eating in a hawker center or when you happen to be on the street and bump into the guy or when you're at the market shopping for your grocery? and at that price for a cup of about 200ml?

what i saw was people there were more receptive to the product and the way of selling to them as in they do not mind people walking up to them and sell them food no matter whether they're enjoying their meal or taking a stroll down the street (as what i have mentioned above). would really like to know your reaction if someone were to walk up to you while you were eating and promote you whatever the food item is.

whereas, i have also seen people doing so in KL but were not receiving good response from the public. what would be the reasons that you guys will not buy and vice versa?

personally, i find that the price is not that expensive taking into consideration the cost of preparation, the efforts by the seller to walk and approach everyone he sees. i wouldn't mind buying and who knows it might turn out to be something tasty.

hope to get more opinions/insights from all who read this thread, even simple feedback is very much appreciated. tq
