World of Tanks with OMGeek

Hey guys it's 2012 and its time for me again to bug you once more

We're planning on organizing regular games for World of Tanks, because we all know, playing this game with lots of teamwork and tactics could be loads of fun. We're trying to start off first on forming a decent tank company (Minimum of Tier 4) starting this Thursday Jan 12 @ 8pm (GMT+8). We're hoping to do this as a regular thing as well.

Since WOT is a free to play game, and the ability to create tank companies needs to be done by a premium account, one of the Original OMGeeks (me, blitzio or jRev) will be footing the bill for the premium account and create the company so we got that covered!

Just let us know if you're interested or need help leveling up! If you have questions also about the game, don't be shy to post em here

You can go download the game here

You also need a US account since majority of us already started there

My in-game name is inque54 so add me up if you already have the client!

Hope to tank with you guys soon

Being a PC gamer in Southeast Asia Makes Me Jelly

I wrote an article today on how I'm jealous with our Western counterparts when it comes to gaming.

QUOTE

But before this great community existed, I’d always find myself craving and wanting to join established communities such as Tactical Gamer and Forgotten Honor. Both communities are founded on the same principles of my gaming philosophies. Unfortunately, since they are based in the west, two big roadblocks stopped me in my tracks from joining them: server location and time zone.

Full article could be found here

Do you guys feel the same way?

OMGeek Platoon Recruiting

The mighty OMGeek [OMGk] platoon is looking for a few good men. We need people who have tactical and team play in mind first and don't mind following orders from appointed Squad leaders.

Each of our squad leaders have their own play style as listed below:

Frontal Assault - INQUE (SL)
Hitting the point hard and direct if needed. Flanking is reserved when another squad is already directly enroute or if it's too hot, but I always like taking the direct path. Hunkering down is also a key objective after taking a point.

Force Recon - Blitzio (SL)
We go after the far targets and hold until relieved. Our focus is on tactical aggression, precision attacks, surgical strikes. I am also instituting a suppressor policy for all firearms.

Frontal Assault / Vehicle support - jRev(SL)
When I'm leading a separate squad, we will most likely attempt to flank a point, attacking from different angles. I also don't mind incurring some downtime by guarding points when the need arises. I also like vehicular support roles--fire support from tanks and LAVs, CAS from helicopters, air superiority in jets (I keep crashing!), and so on. As you would expect, my most-played class is the engineer.

You will definitely be needing a mic as we communicate a lot via mumble and have set up multi-squad channels to communicate on a squad level. Squad leaders and members a like, have access to a global transmit channel to be able to feed in updates to the whole team, but this is mostly reserved for Squad Leaders to coordinate properly.

If you have more questions, just look to this thread or simply post em here

Or come chat us up in our Steam Chatroom (click on the link and you'll directly join, don't be shy!)

And here is our platoon in battlelog

Hoping to hear from interested parties soon!

[addedon]November 18, 2011, 2:55 pm[/addedon]This Sunday we are definitely pushing for Skirmish Sundays!

What is Skirmish Sundays you ask?

Skirmish Sundays it the one day that the OMGeek community can come together and do some organized teamplay. On this day we can now really follow our official Squad designations and work as a unit.

Again we focus on some tactical team play while having good ol fun!

If you have questions, hop on here , or simply reply to this post

Hope we can get more interested parties!

How Gaming Made Me: Love Firearms

Something I wrote on how I came to appreciate the most used tool in any action game made today.

A clip from the post

QUOTE

I wanted to know why some weapons dealt more damage than the others, why some had higher recoil and some didn’t kick as hard, and why are there so much freaking pointy things that go bang. You could say curiosity got the best of me and I wanted answers to all these questions. From then on, I knew that the M4 carbine was a shorter variant of the M16 rifle, why the M1 Garand made a pinging sound after the last round, why the 1911 superior in terms of stopping power and operability versus the M9 Berreta. I have become a proud Gun nut and began scrutinizing firearms in games.

Full article could be read here

Hope to hear your comments on this!

Particular PH ISP not peering well to SG

QUOTE

That was my reality with my former ISP, PLDT. Don’t get me wrong though, the bandwidth allocation was pretty constant and rarely did I have any service interruption. But what’s the use of all this bandwidth if I can’t play a smooth game online? But the most baffling and irritating part of all of this is that PLDT used to peer well with Singaporean servers. I had to do some investigating on this matter.

http://www.omgeek.net/2011/10/frustrations...he-philippines/

I would just want to share this article to you guys on how frustrating it us for us Philippine PC gamers that we need to deal with this because one of the major ISPs don't peer well to Singapore.

Thankfully there's an alternative, but not yet widely available yet in the country

I doubt you guys can relate to this problem, I just want to bring some awareness to this issue.

Let me know what you guys think
