Question regarding Machines Protection Plan

Hi there,

The Magsafe port on my 2021 Macbook Pro 16" has stopped working. Wondering if anyone has faced a similar issue?

I'll schedule a service consultation with Machines soon. I have Apple Care (not Machines Protection Plan) so I'm not sure what's covered and what's not, but I'll see what they say when I go to Machines.

Phone is in a Spigen Ultra Hybrid case since day 1. Body of the phone should be perfect. Screen should be immaculate as I've NEVER peeled off the pre-installed screen protector. (Hence why I've included an unused box of Whitestone Dome screen protector. I never got to using it since I never peeled off the factory protector).

Picture: PM me and I will send pictures to you via WhatsApp.

Reason for sale: I don't need this phone anymore, it was a secondary phone which I bought to test out Android and used shortly for work purposes. Ended up not needing 2 phones.

You will NOT find an S21 Ultra for 2nd hand in this immaculate condition elsewhere, trust me!!

Item(s):

Asus ProArt PA32UCX

Professional 32” 4K HDR Mini-LED monitor with a peak brightness of 1200 nits. Insane HDR monitor, perfect fit for someone who creates HDR content. If you love watching HDR movies and want something bright enough to make HDR pop, this is a good suit for you as well.

Full specs can be viewed here: https://www.asus.com/my/Displays-Desktops/M...lay-PA32UCX-PK/

Package includes: Monitor, monitor hood, X-rite i1 Display Pro Calibrator. No box.

Price: RM7,500 slightly negotiable

Warranty: 2 years warranty left, bought from Viewnet Lowyat 1 year ago.

Dealing method: Strictly COD only (super heavy)

Location: Subang/Puchong/PJ

Contact method/details: PM me for my Whatsapp.
---

Item(s) conditions: 9.9/10, extremely well taken care of, mint condition. Never used HDR mode for long hours (at maximum just to watch a movie), monitor is mostly used with low brightness, I set my monitor to turn off after 10 mins of inactivity. No dead pixels.

Picture: Can send via WhatsApp.

Reason for sale: Changed to LG C2. The PA32UCX is somewhat overkill for me, as I don’t produce HDR content. As for content consumption I actually wanted something bigger hence the switch to the LG C2, even though 32” is considered large for monitor standards

Anyone works for cinema or has a friend that does?

Hi there,

Anyone here works for a cinema or has a friend that does (either branch manager or corporate sales @ HQ) in the Klang Valley area?

I want to book an entire hall for myself for private viewing on and off. Need to be able to screen from my own source material (either my own Blu-ray disc or connect my own device via HDMI or ingest my own DCP file).

MBO was able to do this for me officially, but I need an alternate contact as due to the GSC buyout I don’t know what their future is anymore and whether my contact will still work there.

Note: Mods please feel free to remove this topic if it is in the wrong section. Couldn’t find a more appropriate section.

Going into KL using LRT during MCO 2.0

Hi all.

Have something to do in KL and I'm thinking of taking the LRT to KLCC station, from one of the Subang Jaya stations. Has anyone travelled to KL using Kelana Jaya line? Are there police present doing checks or anything like that?

Since I'm technically crossing districts and don't have a work related permit, I'm just afraid of getting into trouble lol. According to people using the LRT is an easy way to bypass entering KL for those in PJ district since there are supposedly no authorities present performing checks.

Has anyone rented a cinema hall before?

Hi all,

Just wondering - has anyone rented a cinema hall before? I understand for corporate/special events it's very common and you just approach their corporate sales team. And in some cases I know people do rent cinema halls for charity purposes as well to bring in kids from welfare homes and whatnot.

I'm pretty sure anything is possible as long as you can pay for it. However, I'm thinking of renting an entire hall for personal viewing with just a small number of friends, has anyone done this before?

And most importantly, I'm interested in viewing my own selection of movies.. i.e I can supply the raw Blu-ray file or the Blu-ray disc itself for them to play (and yes I understand a Blu-ray disc may not maximize the power of cinema speakers with regards to audio channels and whatnot. I don't know to what extent a cinema chain is able to allow you to watch movies that are no longer screening, with the full cinema-grade quality. I doubt this can be done but do enlighten me if you have more info).

Generally, I think you'd have better luck doing this if you approach an independent cinema, but in Malaysia we only have large cinema-chains (TGV, GSC, MBO) so something like this might be harder to pull off.

Do share your experiences here with renting cinema halls and on the off-chance someone here works for one of the cinema chains and can pull something off, please PM me

Getting a business loan for a "young" company.

Hi there,

I've been running a business (Infrastructure as a Service) for a little over half a year already. Officially registered my company (sole proprietorship) with SSM on October 2019.

I'm looking to see if I can acquire a business loan for Fixed Asset (capital expenditure) purchase (acquiring hardware). This will allow my business to lower operating expenses, thus increasing profit margins and potentially even lower the price of my services (strengthen competitive edge in the market). My business has a very high monthly/yearly turnover. The potential to massively decrease my monthly expenses and strengthen profit margins is very high if I can secure this loan to purchase those hardware.

So far, most banks provide business loans to businesses that have been in operation for 3 years or more only.

I saw one good option which is the 'Business Accelerator Program' from SME Bank which allows businesses that are at least 6 months old to apply for a loan of up to RM 1 million. The criteria you must meet is that you must be an SME (I qualify as that) and you need to have a 2 star rating or above from SME Corp. That is one hurdle but definitely can look into it.

Another option I saw is the CGC BizJamin loan which you can apply under most participating banks. Now this is a little tricky since nowhere does it state how old your business has to be to apply for it. I am contacting CGC and the participating banks that are under this program but I'm waiting for a reply.

I went to my bank today (Maybank) but the branch manager seemed very reluctant to help me (she didn't seem bothered to ask about my business, my needs, and gave me low effort generic answers) and never mentioned anything about the CGC's options to me (I only found out about it and BizJamin when I got home in the evening today).

I want to further ask my bank about CGC but the branch I'm stuck left a bad taste in my mouth after my encounter with the branch manager.

Anyone have experience/insight into business loans for new businesses/startups under 1 year old? Please do share your insight.

[WTA] Hardware media player

Greetings to all

I'm looking to get something to play high quality media files (movies, music) hooked up to the TV via HDMI.

I am looking to spend around RM500 for a media player as well as an external (USB) or internal HDD (1TB) to store media that will be played by the media player.

However, I do not want to get an Android "box" as those would usually have issues at playing back media, since Android is meant for phones and I don't think media players should run on Android.

Perhaps something with XBMC/Kodi.

I need a powerhouse that can play everything (or at least almost everything) I throw at it.
It has to be powerful enough to play FULL HD video with up to 30Mbps bit rate, and support as many types of video codecs and containers. Audio such as DTS / DTS-HD / DTS-HD MA (pass through), WAV, FLAC, AC3/Dolby Digital, AAC etc has to be supported. All sorts of subtitles must be supported (VOB, srt, idx/sub, .sup/PGS)
If my demands are too tough to meet, I wouldn't mind a suggestion of a device that has the closest compatibility to what I posted.

Popcorn Hour looks great but I believe it might be way above my budget.
I am also thinking the latest version of the WD TV Live can be an option, OR the latest Raspberry Pi might also be a good option if it is much better than a media player box.
Please sifus, give me your advice on this!

It would be nice as well if there are USB ports, better if it has a USB port + internal HDD slot. But if I have no choice to only have an internal HDD slot and no USB ports, that shouldn't be an issue.

Worst case scenario if my budget is not enough I can allocate RM500 for the media player itself. Don't have to worry about purchasing an external/internal HDD first. And my budget is definitely too low for an HTPC..

Please advice :/ Thank you.

SAPPHIRE 7870 XT vs SAPPHIRE 7950 VAPOR-X

Hey guys, I plan to get a new card soon..
I'm not too sure when, depends. Just want to get ready for all the "next-gen" jazz and stuff, so I'd like to spend less than RM1k on a new card,
but seeing my choices, I think AMD has great cards for less than RM1k, so I'm debating on the 7870 XT or 7950 Vapor-X.
I would just like to know if the 7950 has a lot of performance difference compared to the much cheaper 7870 XT, and many people are saying that it performs like a 7950,
and not to mention it is much cheaper too.

Can you guys just give me your opinions on the 2 cards? I am yet to check in depth benchmarks, reviews and comparisons yet, though I'd still like to ask you guys here.

(Also, I do not mind waiting for the 8xxx series cards, when do you guys think they'll arrive?)

Cheap rig suggestion please?

Hi everyone, so I need a second rig.

Budget as low as possible, for a decent rig that could be used for light gaming (Minecraft?), browsing, and etc

I do not need a monitor, and also, I do not need lots of diskspace, a Seagate 160GB (from Viewnet) would be good.

If it is very worth to go over RM1k I might consider it.
