Dear community,

My Asus G73jh just went down (its only a year ++ almost 2 years old ! ) , the technician probably just broke my graphic card during its repair. Its warranty was over i took it to a normal shop instead of service center( guys never do this )

My thoughts:

Lenovo Y580 ? Most probably I guess..

Asus G series are totally out.. i m totally out of budget this time I really liked it, a lot!

Alienware..? Nah..

Qosmio? Don't think I can afford it either. No good thoughts about it anyway

MSI? Maybe, no idea at all.. hope someone recommend it to me..

Asus N series? Guess not.. depends :/

Looking for:

1. <RM3000 or around that.. Don't have much budget this time as I am only a student :/
2. Main purpose : Gaming (DOTA2)
3. Want Good Cooling if possible. Recommend a good cooler pad also
4.
Asus g73jh problem

Dear community,

Recently, my laptop g73jh has just got itself into a coma state. I couldn't turn on my laptop and everyone I do , the screen is just blank (in black) nothing shows but the backlit keyboard still lights up though. I took it to a computer repairing service and they say it was due to impairment in my motherboard.

So the main problem is that I am current facing a problem on making a decision whether to replace the mother la
Board by sending it to asus service center which is kinda troublesome and time consuming or just buy a new one ...? My laptop is one year ++ years old btw.

I need some advices , thanks a lot !
Is there anywhere I can replace the motherboard other than sending it to service center ?

Question about Xcode

Dear community,

I am having my long term break and I was motivated to make my own iPhone apps during my break. So, as far as i know, apple apps can only be created via Xcode which can only be run on MAC OS (right?). Unfortunately for me, I am currently using Windows 7 and I don't have any Mac or any CPU running on OSX

My question is:

Is there any alternative way where I can make my iPhone apps other than via Xcode?

If i Install a virtual OS Lion on my laptop, what are the risks and what might happen to my Windows 7? Do i lose everything (all my files data including Windows 7 itself)?

Thank you in advance
Merry Xmas (though its over) and happy newyear!

iPhone 5 Digi Preorder Queries

Dear Lowyat community,

So the wait is over, Digi has finally announced its preorder for iPhone 5 today!

So now i am facing a problem: how do i preorder it?

I went to the website and tried preordering and an question came up, there are 4 options for me

1.Keep my DiGi Postpaid number

2.Switch to DiGi
(MNP - Mobile Number Portability)

3.Use a Coupon Code

4.Get a new number

I cant use the first option because i am currently using a Prepaid sim card, so the option is out.

The second is impossible for me as well, well because i'm a digi user already

The third one is definitely out

The only way left for me is the 4th options, but what if i want to remain my old number? Is it a must for me to change my contact number just because i purchase an iPhone 5 with a postpaid plan? *sigh*

What should I do to preorder iPhone 5 but still keeps my old phone number (DIGI)

Thank you in advance!

How to prioritise steam in bandwidth usage?

Dear Lowyat Community,

*I'm using a shared wireless networking connection among many residents in my hostel.*
*Game- DOTA2*
*Server region - South East Asia*

I'm facing lag issues where I can load 720p videos on youtube without having to wait for it to buffer; but at the same time, my ping in game sky rocketed from 300ms-2000ms inconsistently, basically, it is impossible to play.

So my question is, why is this happening? I doubt that the cause is not due to the others are streaming or downloading because I can still load you-tube smoothly. Strangely enough, I couldn't play my game at all.

How can I priortise all my own bandwidth usage on steam only?

A million thanks
