Pelita Jaya tawar Safee gaji RM118,000

xcenturygothicx — Wed, 01 Feb 2012 10:04:35 +0800

QUOTE

JAKARTA - Seandainya Safee Sali memilih untuk kekal bersama kelab Pelita Jaya, pemain berkenaan bakal menerima gaji bulanan berjumlah Rupiah 350 juta (RM118,000) sebulan.

- Utusan

MACC wants copies of asset declaration

xcenturygothicx — Thu, 19 Jan 2012 09:23:10 +0800

QUOTE

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is to get a copy of the declaration of assets of Cabinet members and their spouses and other family members submitted to the Prime Minister under a proposal to the Government.

MACC advisory panel chairman Puan Sri Zaitun Zawiyah Puteh said the commission forwarded the proposal to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at a meeting last Dec 12 and he seemed receptive to the idea.

“We proposed that a copy of the declaration of assets of all members of the federal administration be given to the commission. We (further) proposed that their spouses and other family members be required to disclose their assets through a statutory declaration and a record of it be kept by the MACC,” she added.

“The Prime Minister appeared to respond positively to the proposal. However, a decision will be made by the Cabinet,” Zaitun Zawiyah told reporters after chairing a meeting at the MACC headquarters here yesterday.

Cabinet ministers now only have to disclose their assets to the Prime Minister annually. Their declaration is not made public.

Zaitun Zawiyah said the proposal was to upgrade the transparency and enhance the integrity of the federal administration.

She also hoped that state governments would require executive councillors and their family members to disclose their assets and submit copies of the declarations to the MACC.

On another matter, SHAILA KOSHY reports that former United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers Datuk Param Cumaraswamy said any mechanism established for the declaration of assets by superior court judges must not impinge on judicial independence.

“Judicial independence must not be impinged in the process of seeking accountability,” said Param, adding that immediate family members should declare their assets as well.

He said the Judicial Appointments Commission was the best body to oversee declaration of judges' assets.
