Astro Sickness Every Power On

Hi All,

I want to check with you if you are having old Astro Philips decoder (non-HD). Every time power on, I have to wait for few hours to be able to watch any channel and when I checked the satellite signal is 0.

After successful able to watch, then at night 12:00am it will have the sickness again...the video will be come like when the raining and audio is clear. Then, it will die off...says no service available but no raining.

Today I found out that neighboring house changing his old Astro (old/SD decoder) to new Byond (HD) and also having the similar symptom.

I am scratching my head if other people is having the same issue and is it the tactic from Astro to lure all SD subscriber to move to HD.

Thank you.
GeeXboX 1.1 has been released

A new version of GeeXboX, a Linux-based movie player, has been released: "GeeXboX 1.1. Although development never stopped, more than a year has passed without any new official GeeXboX release. This new one is a really good candidate for your HTPC multimedia distribution choice. It comes with an improved hardware support, providing dozens of new drivers (a lot of new WiFi controllers, DVB card chipsets and new remote controls). It also comes with a massively upgraded and more stable MPlayer, which features native decoding of various audio and video formats that used to be available through non-free Win32 DLLs only. Also, GeeXboX now has some decoding speed improvements and the OSD menu has been completely rewritten to provide a lot of new attractive features." More details in the release announcement. http://geexbox.org/en/index.html#geexbox_1.1

Slackware Linux 12.0 has been released

Slackware Linux 12.0 has been released: "Well folks, it's that time to announce a new stable Slackware release again. So, without further ado, announcing Slackware version 12.0! Since we've moved to supporting the 2.6 kernel series exclusively (and fine-tuned the system to get the most out of it), we feel that Slackware 12.0 has many improvements over our last release and is a must-have upgrade for any Slackware user. Here are some of the advanced features of Slackware 12.0: runs the 2.6.21.5 version of the Linux kernel; system binaries are linked with the GNU C Library, version 2.5; X11 7.2.0; Apache 2.2.4 web server with Dynamic Shared Object support, SSL, and PHP 5.2.3; the udev dynamic device management system; updated versions of the Slackware package management tools...." Read the rest of the release announcement for full details. http://www.slackware.com/announce/12.0.php

Announcing Fedora 7 (Moonshine) (2007-05-31)

The Fedora Project is pleased to announce the final release of Fedora 7 (Moonshine)!

Fedora 7 is the first release where the development was one hunnerd and one per-cent in the community. How? All the code was merged into a single external repository. Why? Same great distribution quality, even more high-quality developers able to work directly with the code and improve the flavor of over 7500 packages.

For more information see https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-anno...y/msg00009.html

Streamyx 1Mbps - Upload speed slow

Hi all,

I am getting low upload speed for my 1Mbps Streamyx Home package. The adsl modem upstream speed is 128kbps.

When I perform a upload speed test using TMnet's speedometer...I am getting 51.6kbps, 49.76kbps and 59.28kbps

I am currently using Prolink H9000W. I have tried using a different modem (Aztech). The result is the same.

Why the SNR Margin between the downstream and upstream value is so much difference?

Please find the attached screenshots for your reference.

Rgds,
rootlinux
