Could not access file/folder from Old HDD

hi experts,

I have a problem here. I have a very old Windows XP desktop which recently died, for unknown reason, i can no longer boot up the PC. But i managed to buy an external casing with IDE connector so now i have access to my old HDD.

The problem is when I tried to access the following folder in 'Documents and Settings' and i tried to click further into the user folder. I received a notification prompting me that I do not have access to that folder.

How do i fix this?

I tried to click on that folder but it seems that after that my mouse cursing went to the circling icon and it remains that way for a long long time, even as I am typing this, looks like the my HDD folder 'hang' now and the circling icon for my mouse cursor remains.

Any help or idea how to fix this issue?

Thanks.

p/s: screenshot attached.

Hi all expert users here..

just checking, i notice in my router, the DHCP server is set on and the renew time is 24 hours.

Do i have to change anything or my device will be disconnected every 24 hours?

pls help advise. My main concern here is my device like PC will be disconnected once the 24 hours lease expires...
then i have to reconnect again?

thanks in advance !
