Anyways this new so called vlogging camera just opened for PreOrder. I am really keen to get 1 but still on the fence a little due to the field of view. Hope to have a community discussion on this if there are others who are eyeing the Sony ZV-1 as well.

Is it Worthwhile to repair old 34" CRT TV?

Hi good folks of LYN!

Firstly Happy New Year to one and all

Anyways... my old 4yr old plus Sony 34" Wega CRT TV which model I can't even remember, is not functioning at all for the past few weeks. Hence I would like to ask if anyone knows if its worthwhile fixing and what are the most common issues for such an old TV. Also if you can recommend an experienced TV electrician who don't mind coming over to my house to repair, I would be much thankful since this TV is so huge and heavy.

Graphic Card Upgrade Or New PC?

I would like to seek your kind advice as to whether if I upgrade my graphic card will be enough to play say Metro Last Light at max settings (which I can't atm sadly) or do I need to purchase a new gaming PC?

My present PC specs are as follows:

Intel Core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz
RAM = 8gb
System = 64-bit
Graphic Card = ATI Radeon HD 5700

Dear Sifus, I really am in need of advice. I just got back home from my CNY holidays and to my shock, discovered my master bedroom bathroom was leaking from the ceiling above the plasterboard. After investigation, I found that the water was coming from way above and not from the water heater tank. I called up the security to come have a look since management office is not open today. The guard inspected and confirmed that it is caused by the above unit. They told me that the owner is seldom around so they proceeded to turn off the master water meter and asked me to monitor if the water continues. Luckily the dripping stops after about 20mins.

Sadly my bathroom is damaged in regards to the plasterboard, wooden flooring, bathroom door is much harder to close now and molded in several areas. I've taken some pics to share here to give you guys a clearer idea:

So I wanted to seek advice on what can I do in this situation? Do I have to bear the repair costs and precious time incurred to fix all this by myself? Or can the management help me claim against the unit above owner?

Philips PFL5507H Smart 3D LED TV Series

Disclaimer - I recently bought this TV (haven't arrived yet tho) and tired of looking at info from all over the web.
Hence I started this thread to compile them for general knowledge and for me to refer to later.

Philips 2012 Smart 3D LED TV - PFL5507 Series

The Philips PFL5507H TV is a product of the joint-venture between Philips and TPV. It has active-shutter 3D, Smart TV functions via Ethernet and built-in Wi-Fi, as well as 400 Hz motion interpolation. All in all, this mid-range TV has functions worthy of a high-end model!

Those eyeing a 3D TV, but have a tight budget may like to check out the new Philips PFL5507 series (comes in 55, 46, 40 and 32 screen size options), which is currently one of the cheapest active shutter 3D TVs in the market. It is also surprisingly well-equipped with smart TV capabilities and superb A/V connectivity options. Still, you need to be aware of some minor shortcomings of this Dutch offering compared with its competitors.

Upside:
The 40PFL5507 has a brushed-metal bezel that is not only attractive, but is also less prone to fingerprint smudges. Performance-wise, this model features a 100Hz LED-edgelit panel, which is matched by a 15W x 2 speaker system boasting 50 percent higher power than most TVs. The latest Philips active shutter 3D glasses are lightweight at merely 31g, and come with batteries that can be recharged using a USB port.

With the Philips smart TV platform, users can surf the Internet and download apps from an online store known as App Gallery. These functions are all easily accessible from a centralized dashboard that can be displayed onscreen at the touch of a button using the remote control. Navigating apps and text input are further simplified via iOS and Android remote apps, while USB keyboard and mouse are also supported.

Another key differentiator is the 40PFL5507's A/V connectivity suite, which consists of four HDMI inputs, three USB ports and integrated Wi-Fi. By connecting a USB hard drive to the TV, users can pause, rewind and fast-forward live digital broadcasts. Meanwhile, Wi-Fi also enables wireless streaming of multimedia files from DLNA-ready devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Downside:
Though there is an Internet browser, the version used by Philip is quite basic without Flash compatibility and multi-tab support to open multiple Web pages. For this year, the TV's Europe-oriented SCART socket has been made less prominent using an adapter, but it ought to be substituted with a port which is more relevant for Asia.

Outlook:
You will be hard-pressed to find a recently launched active shutter 3D TV that can rival the 40PFL5507 in terms of features and overall value. The closest alternative at the moment is the Samsung UA40ES6200, which ships with fewer inputs at the same price. There's also the Sony Bravia KDL-40EX750, which lacks onboard Wi-Fi.

[Help] PC not starting due to HD

Hi there all,

I am facing a problem switching on my PC which upon start up it displays 'Unable to Detect Harddisk'. I'm sorry as I am not a very technical person especially when it comes to PC.

2 days ago it was fine, then yesterday it suddenly took much longer to start-up and today this happens. Besides the message stated above... I can also hear a wierd beeping sound when it tries to detect the Harddisk.

I am at my wit ends as some data on the HD is precious to me especially some of the latest pictures of my family holiday which I clumsily did not back-up.
