Would like to ask as company are giving out new company policy
one of the clause of medical benefits state :-

The Company will not bear the cost of the following : -
i) Appliances including spectacles, contact lens, dentures or artificial limbs.
ii) Optical charges, chiropractic, traditional treatment cost, beauty surgery, allergy, age-related health issues (due to normal aging process rather than specific disease, example Osteoarthritis) and genetic diseases, example heart disease, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, arthritis and Alzheimer.

clause ii : "age-related health issues (due to normal aging process rather than specific disease, example Osteoarthritis) and genetic diseases, example heart disease, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, arthritis and Alzheimer."

Is it consider discrimination?

Does Malaysia labor law allow this ?

recently a friend of mine pointed out that do not buy AP android smartphone (which he is using Lenovo)

because he updated his phone, his phone reset and change to china set (which do not have play store). He also said that he try to root it but it still remain as china set.

Clause in employment contract - not working for

Need to seek some advise as 1 of my friend having the issue:-

There was a clause in employment contract in which he had to agreed not to work for a competitor for a period of two years after discontinuing current employment

But when he went to ministry for human resources they ask him not to sign! If he do not sign he sure will get pressure from the bosses!

My question is whether such a clause is legal. I have been told that this is not legal.

Guys really need some advise!

here's the story goes....

I am a guy from KL (live and work in KL) and I get to know this girl in Penang (live and work in Penang). I knew her since one and a half years ago. Though I am interested in her but I have been holding it since it is a long distance relationship. On and off we do send sms to each other (maybe once or twice a months).

After holding for one and a half years finally I decided to make the approach. Last month while on my business trip to Penang, I have dated her for a dinner and movie. There after, almost everyday I will send her greeting sms ( but she will reply once in a while). I did even try to call her, some time we did chat for an hours.

This was the 3rd week since I last seen her, so I sms her whether she will be free on Saturday (today, 22nd May, I plan on a 2 days trip just to meet her), as I wanted to date her for a movie. Initially she say yes but later on Thursday she sms me that her friend have a birthday party on Saturday, asking me to postpone the movie to Sunday. But since I paid in advance on the tickets (mid night movie), I was not able to postpone the date nor get the refund. Then she say she will try to ask her friend to bring forward to Friday.

Again on Friday night, she sms me that the party is not able to change and still remain on Saturday. Then I call her telling that even we can't watch the movie at least I still can have a dinner with her than she can go for her party and on Sunday we have a a lunch before I left for KL. Again she say OK.

Then today...I reach Penang around 2pm. Try to call her but she didn't pick up. But after the 4 times, she finally pick up. And she told me that she cannot make it today as she is still waiting for her appointment for the facial treatment and tell me arrange tomorrow!

So now I was half way hanging, should I continue to wait for tomorrow or go back KL for good?

Is it a acid test??
Actually I am a bit piss and disappointed!

Please advise!

P/S: I have indicate to her that I am interested to get to know her, that why I came to met her.

Day 2

Dear Lowyat forumers,

First of all, I really appreciate the advise/comment you have given to me. Thank you very much!

As most of you have mentioned since I am in Penang, why not stay 1 more day. As such I did that.

On the second day (Sunday), I sms her around 11am (as I suppose after her last night party she won't wake up so early), than I got a reply asking me to pick her around 1pm to have lunch. When I pick her up, she did apologize to me saying that the facial appointment was postpone to 3pm as such she feel that it will be very rush and she also thinking of calling me to join the party but since I don't know her friends that why she didn't make the call.

There after we went for our lunch have chat on all kinds of things. After certain topic again, I joking ask her to give me an "application form" so that I can send my resume as I want to court her. Than she started asking me, how come I didn't look for any girls in KL. My reply to her is "Faith"!
Than follow by asking me what kind of girls I like. My reply to her is "I am not a 100% perfect man, I am not looking for a perfect women. Everybody have their pros n cons, as long as the girl I like n willing to share my ups n downs. I am more than happy." I ask her back the same question and she say her answer is the same as mine.

As tomorrow (Monday), I still need to work so I would want to leave Penang by evening time as such I sent her back around 5pm. I would say we did chat on all kind of things (from religions, politic, work, foods...etc) seem there is no barrier (I suppose it is a good start?).

Though I did't ask for the next date, but I suppose I will pursue courting her. (Any comment?)

As some of you did mentioned that it might be tough due to a long distance relationship. Yes, I do understand that and I have a bad experience in the pass when my ex-gf did mentioned to me once "When I needed you and you are too far away!". This is also one of the main reason why I have been holding back for more than 1 and a half years as these words been keeping in my mind. Even though I did met some girls in KL during these period of time but in my mind she is always my 1st choice.
