Pick Pocketed outside KLCC yesterday evening

I was rushing to the gym after work yesterday and a young guy, probably early 20s 'bumped' into me from behind. This occurred outside Jalan P Ramlee, near the KLCC Suria entrance. I didn't notice till after my gym session that a flap on my backpack was open and my spare wallet inside was missing. By then, some of my debit cards were used and I had to spend an hour plus calling customer service of few banks to cancel them.

Times are tough, so stay safe guys. This kind of petty theft will spike especially among the young unemployed.

Rest In Peace, Dan

Hi all,

After seeing all the comments swirling on social media regarding the fatal road rage incident yesterday, I just have to add my 2 cents. As someone who knows Danial personally (he's just Dan to us who know him), I have been feeling quite sad and am in shock over receiving the news last night. Before I proceed further, I need to make a disclaimer that I am Chinese, so please don't accuse me of plotek here.

I've known Dan for years through work, and he has always been a gentle soul. He was very hardworking and always willing to go the extra mile to please the client. We have had many lunches together, and even worked out in the gym as buddies for a short time too. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the message last evening from a friend that he could have been an aggressor, to take out a baseball bat and hit another car. At first I thought it was fake news, and after much eyewitness accounts and official news statements, I still find it very difficult to swallow that version of events. This is definitely not the Dan that I have known for years. He would be among the last guy that I would associate with having anger management issues.

However, with a heavy heart, I am starting to accept that there could be parts of the heart that are kept hidden from the world, and it could have been a moment of anger/weakness that led to such fatal consequences.

It is such a tragedy that such a nice guy should be remembered for his one mistake as the 'baseball bat guy'. Dan never had a racist bone in him either, as none of us, his Chinese friends have never had a reason to feel so, after knowing him for years. So it is even more sad for me to see that this whole incident has developed racial undertones. I Just hope that it is a lesson to all to stay calm, and never give in to your rage no matter what. Think of your loved ones.

Rest In Peace bro.

I'm not so concerned about the costs, but more of the hassle since I need the item rather urgently. Thanks

Loan Rejected

Hi all,

I would like to get your opinions on an issue. I signed the booking form and put down the earnest deposit for a secondary property. I've been shopping for a loan. My banker from a local bank told me that there is no issue with my credit and that the loan should go through. However a couple of days later, she calls me up and says that the loan cannot go through due to issues with the Vendor, which she says she is unable to disclose why. She said that it is highly unlikely that other banks will lend to me due to the vendor issues. Could anyone share with any reason as to what these issues are? The banker advised me to look for another property.

Thanks.

Hi guys,

I accidentally transferred funds from my Maybank savings account to my HSBC savings account instead of my HSBC credit card. Naturally, a week or so after the due date I received a call from HSBC reminding me to make payment, which I immediately did so by transferring from my HSBC savings account to credit card. Would this incident be a '1' on my CCRIS?

Thanks.

Credit Card Debt on CCRIS

Hi all,

Several months ago, I bought some big ticket items using credit cards. Subsequently I converted the debt to zero interest plans via balance transfer to Maybank and other zero interest installment plans offered by Citibank. Now I am billed about RM1,500 on a monthly basis for all the installments. The balance of the credit card debts that will be billed eventually over the next 10 months is approximately RM15k.

I am currently considering purchasing a property which will naturally lead to loan applications. Would this balance of RM15k appear on my CCRIS when the banks check? Or will they only be able to see my monthly outstanding balance? I am considering whether to prepay off this RM15k of debt prior to applying for loans.

Thanks.

Clarification on Commercial Titles

I've searched thoroughly online but have not been able to find detailed info regarding this new class of quasi-residential property. Am hoping for some advice from the property experts here:-

(i) What are the advantages of a commercial development being covered by HDA? Other than the fact that it is legal for someone to reside in the property.
(ii) If a particular SOHO development is covered by the HDA, does this mean that it is entitled to residential utility tariffs and assessment rates? Or is this on a case by case basis where each strata title holder would have to request to a utility provider?
(iii) Are HDA covered projects exempted from GST?

Thanks
