GOOGLE CHROME users could soon be eligible for a hefty £4,000 cheque over the privacy-focused Incognito Mode. Here's everything you need to know.

Have you ever used Google Chrome's built-in Incognito Mode to secretly browse on the internet away from prying eyes? If so, you could soon be entitled to a £4,000 ($5,000) windfall from Google. Why? Well, it's all thanks to a $5 billion (£4 billion) class-action lawsuit, which has been filed by lawyers who have accused Google of illegally gathering information during users' private Incognito Mode browsing sessions.

Since this is a class-action lawsuit, anyone who meets the criteria could be eligible to share in the $5 billion payout – provided the lawyers are successful, of course. To be eligible, you'll need to have used Incognito Mode since June 1, 2016. The complaint, which has been filed to the US District Court for the Northern District of California by a partner at the Boies Schiller Flexner law firm, states that it has taken action because of "Google's unlawful and intentional interception and collection" of confidential communications without users' consent.

This took place, the complaint continues, "even when those individuals expressly follow Google’s recommendations to prevent the tracking or collection of their personal information and communications." Whenever you launch a new Incognito window in Google Chrome, the software displays a message that this mode is designed to allow you to "browse privately". It says other people who use the device will not be able to access your browsing history.

Google is very clear that downloads and bookmarks in Incognito Mode will still be saved – exactly like when browsing in a non-private mode. The search giant states browsing history, cookies, site data, and data inputted into forms will not.

The class-action lawsuit argues that Google does "track and collect consumer browsing history," as well as other online activity regardless of whether or not someone is using the Incognito Mode built into Chrome, or not. Although Google makes it clear that websites will still be able to record your visit and activity – as well as employers, schools, and the broadband companies, the complaint claims that Google "accomplishes its surreptitious tracking," using methods such as Google Analytics, the Google Ad Manager and the Google Sign-In button for websites.

Whether Google uses these tracking tools, and if it does, the lack of explanation about this tracking in the disclaimer when using Google Chrome's Incognito Mode is really what this entire $5 billion class-action lawsuit rests upon.

Google spokesperson said the company would defend itself vigorously against these claims. It also disputes the claims.

"Incognito mode in Chrome gives you the choice to browse the internet without your activity being saved to your browser or device," the spokesperson added, "As we clearly state each time you open a new incognito tab, websites might be able to collect information about your browsing activity during your session."

For the time being, maybe don't start spending that £4,000 on the assumption the cheque from Google is in the post.

Didn't they use lesser water too?

Somemore it is like a chain effect, saying most of the ice melt before they get consume is absurd.

Why not making it just 10 cents higher than hot drink, den lesser go into waste and bust the reason above

Late e-filling

I've a question here, my HR deduct and help me pay my tax from my monthly salary
But I forgot to do e-filling before 15 May 2016, which is few days ago..

I don't understand what e-filling is about. Is it actually for claiming back tax or declaring income?

1. Some of my friend say it was just for claiming back tax, so if you didn't claim, government thanks you only, then another friend say it is to declare income so if you didn't do it, will get penalty
2. Can I still claim back my tax? Any penalty? Any step

Hi all,

I just started my workout since August and my goal is to pump up my weight as well as build a nice body. I take supplement like BSN True Mass 1200 and just finish my first pack.
Just bought another pack for myself and I starting to wondering, is there any other supplement I should take to get better effect? Here are my thought, creatine or bcaa

I googled around and some say bcaa, some say creatine.. I asked the supplement shop where I bought my 2nd pack, they ask me to take bcaa ( could it be because the price is higher so they can pocket the profit? )

Weight: around 55kg

As of 19th September:
Weight: around 61kg

Building a office server pc

Hi all,

I would like to build a server pc which the budget is around 2k (slightly adjust if cant, but best if can meet the budget)
Currently is using a laptop to temporary doing the job which is too overkill for it to handle. Laptop spec is i7-4500 with 8gb of ram.
The rig is mainly act as a development server which store document, hosting development web server, ftp server as well as backup storage.

So here is what I need:
CPU : i5 or i7 or Xeon? (Is lower end xeon cheaper as they offer hyper threading compare to i5 which is 4c/8t, how about performance?)
Cooling: not important as aircond is here but will justify later see whether go for water for the silent purpose.
Ram : minimum 16gb (Is it a must to go for ecc ram if use xeon ?)
Graphic card : not needed, integrate will do
Monitor : not needed as I can use remote pc
Keyboard & mouse: not needed too
Motherboard : depends on cpu
Casing: any will do
PSU: reliable 1 to open 24 hours and never off
Hard disk: Min 1TB 1st, lets see if above spec fit the budget then will go for raid setup for backup purpose.

Just wanna be sure..
I've check the pricelist and scan through some of the garage sales.

Notice this LG 22M45D was around that price and eyeing for it now..
But prior to that, just to confirm is there any other monitor which is around this price yet offering spec? Any recommendation?
