LAN Connection Not Working But Wireless Could

Broadband provider
ISP/package: Unifi VIP5
Location: Puchong
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: No

Currently using the default router that Unifi gave me, the L7 Router. I've been using it for about two weeks before something terrible happened a few hours ago.

I can't surf the net well, the pages load halfway and I can't login to Steam nor flying spaghetti monster. However, I can surf the net just fine if I use my phone via wifi. So I assume this would be something to do with the ethernet network connection being screwed. I actually have to tether my connection using my phone's wifi.

Is it my LAN card? Or does this mean I have to change my router? If so, anyone recommend a good stable brand? I heard D-link might not cut it.

Keyboard Keys Repeating?

Hi, I am using a fairly simple keyboard with both the PS/2 and USB plugs, for some reason, out of nowhere, the key "." as in, fullstop or dot, keeps repeating, it doesn't stop, and sometimes if it does, certain keys trigger the repeat, I don't even know what kind of problem is this.

Certain keys like G,H,Space and Alt, I tried unplug, restart, doesn't work, even other keyboards I took out from the cabinet still doesn't work, what the hell is going on here?!

Can anyone help?

Also, NumLock stops the dots repeating, but it has error sounds popping out.

Cannot Connect to MSN/Norton/Other anti-spyware

Hi,I'm using an Aztech DSL600E and been years using it, flawlessly too. My problem started with my old computer, apparently I couldn't connect to Malwarebyte's site or update with it, then Norton too, AVG, Microsoft and so on,I kinda ignore it since I hardly uses it as it's an old computer.

After switching my old PC to a completely new and reformatted PC like a few days ago,I couldn't connect to these sites too and it's even worse, it caused some weird lag spike once in a while when I use Yahoo Messenger. I got a feeling it's my modem that's been hijacked or something, googling for it is too broad, and I couldn't specify whether it's a virus or my modem getting jacked.

So does anyone know how to get rid of this? Also, I'm using a 1MB line Streamyx.

Other sites are working good, or else I wouldn't be typing here.

Final Cut Studio 2

Hi Fellow Mac users,

I would like to know if it's possible to run Final Cut Studio 2 (Inclusive of Final Cut Pro 6, Motion, Logic, etc) with the NEW Macbook with the Aluminum thing. I googled and inquired much with the Mac sellers but they keep telling me I cannot run it, yet I've seen some people said it would run just fine with no lag.

Can someone confirm with me once and for all that Final Cut Studio 2 can or can NOT run on the new MacBook with the new 9400 GeForce and 160GB HDD.

Thank you

Incomplete load?

Hi,

Roughly yesterday morning, when I was surfing the net,my DSL light blink, lost my net,and cause one of my frequent page I visit to load incompletely.

After I fixed, restart modem and load the page again,it loads exactly like what happened when I got disconnected. I tried clearing Mozilla's cache, using CCleaner but to no avail.

I thought it was the site's issue and ask my friend to check,he mentioned to me that nothing is wrong, all is normal. I can't believe I'm loading the page incompletely, some images are missing, position of the text are wrong,no background, etc.

I tried IE and updated my Mozilla,it's still the same, what's wrong!? How do I fix this?

After that, when I do manage to get the DSL light up, it keeps blinking non stop. And when I restart the modem whenever that happens, the DSL light went off.

So I went away and switched off the power. When I got back like 10 minutes ago, it was back online, but the sequence was weird. My Ethernet light was on first, followed by the blinking of the DSL light, then bam,it was on.

What the heck is going on? And what does it mean when my DSL light went out? Bad connection or something?

Mac OS and Windows

Hi Mac users,

I've been a Windows user for years now, and recently my college had put up a Mac based enviroment for the students to work and study with.

My question is:

Considering I already got a laptop which is Windows Vista, and I want to dualboot it with Mac OS X (Leopard or something?) ,is it possible to do so? I know MacBooks can crisscross easily from Mac to XP,but I'm not sure if it is possible to do the other way around. Not many people can manage to explain much to me,as I know they probably multiboot it to Linux or Ubuntu.

What issues might popped up in case if it is possible? I heard it's instable...

Multibooting Windows and Mac

I'm currently looking for a laptop to run BOTH Windows Vista/XP and Mac OS X. Basically I'm a born Windows user but my college demands me to use Mac to run a few Mac based programs for work and study. I heard that it wasn't as much as the hardware that was the issue, it was the instability or something.

I had a friend who run Windows and Ubuntu or Linux, so far I haven't found any info on dualbooting to Mac.

My question is,if I get a Windows laptop and can I dualbooting it to Mac as well? Without suffering much problems? Cause my only other option is to buy a MacBook, which I don't think I'll live my life well to it.

Hi,

I'm trying to connect to a game server in Thailand, I tried accessing its website but it could not. However,I can ping it and getting good latency and stuff, when I go in-game and connect,it's like the server doesn't exist or doesn't allow incoming connection. Even using proxy sites like YouHide or HideMyBox is useless. My friends can connect to it but I could not.

For websites, it says "Connection Timed Out"

For in-game server, it says "Unable to connect to server" or "Connecting...." And it doesn't move on.

[addedon]August 17, 2008, 10:45 pm[/addedon]No one can help?

Moreover, when I tried to mute my whole system down via the controller, it doesn't mute at all, still got sound. I'm bloody desperate, I can't find a USB Microphone anywhere too.
