Interior Design Ideas and Products

Habitat is a website to find interior design ideas and the interior designers behind those work.

Recently released the brand section that allows companies to create their own profile and tag their products to the photos shared. After all, not all of us can afford an ID but we still want to find those nice and cool products that we see in the pictures.

Just want to hear back on what you guys think of the current site... it's definitely come a long way since it was started off as my blog to share my renovation experience (and to rant back then too).

Would love to hear any feedback that you guys may have.

Putting together a desktop

Am thinking of building a desktop which will be used for gaming, downloading as well as for work with Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc...

I've not been following PC hardware updates for quite a couple of years now and looking at the new pricelists just seem like Greek to me . I'm budgeting about RM3.5 - RM4k for the desktop excluding accessories like keyboard, speakers, mouse & monitor.

I plan on leaving my desktop on pretty much 24/7 and cooling is a high priority. Wanna get your opinion on what specs should i build my desktop with?

Wireless Monitor connectivity

Hie guys,

Would like to find out if anyone here knows if there is any product in the market that enables the monitor to connect to the desktop wireless?

Something with a transmitter fixed at the desktop and the receiver attached to the monitor. Much appreciated if someone could help me shed some light on this as i'm really looking for a product like this.

Was wondering is Plaza Damas a place worthwhile to look at for commercial property potential?
With the almost completed first phase of the Kenny Heights Estate project, is this a good place to look at to increase investment portfolio?

Anyone has any ideas what the rental rates for ground, mezzanine, first and second floors in this project is? Am thinking of the smallest of the different types of units which were initially available. My focus in more on phase 1 or phase 2 of plaza damas, am not really interested in phase 3 as i like the proximity to Kenny Heights.

Any information anyone has on this area would be much appreciated.

Renovation Journey

This is my house in PJ, am currently in the midst of renovation works.
Most of the masonry work has been completed, wiring is almost done, aircond, water & sewage piping have both been completed.
At the moment it's about 70% completed.

Original Facade

All the walls have come crumbling down

1st floor rear room extension

Majority of the walls on 1st floor taken down

Staircase repositioned for space optimization

Door frames delivered and syelek'ed

Front facade torn down

Front facade rebuilt with new car porch.

New lay-out of the ground floor with 10ft ground floor extension

Progress is going so far, so good.... getting the wiring completed within next week so that the plaster ceiling guy can start work. Another 2-3 months to completion, maybe...

Wireless CCTV Recomendation

I've been pondering this question for sometime and wonder if anyone here can help shed some light on this for me.

I'm looking to get wireless IP CCTV to be installed in my house and am wondering what are the available brands which give HD quality video output and excellent night vision?

Are any of you here using these in your home, how much did you get your cameras from and for how much? Honestly PVR system to me is a waste of time as that's the first thing thieves pull out if they see your house has a CCTV.

Kitchen planning for Electrolux appliances

Ok... i've put my money down and made the purchase of my kitchen appliances.
After all the searching here and there i decided to stick with a brand i'm familiar with and trust.

If you're gonna ask what model, what price i'm getting them and from where, just read at the following link:

Now i'm facing the task of thinking up how i'm gonna lay-out my kitchen. I've got the rough idea in my head and my dry and wet kitchen will be separate areas in the house. For getting the space ready for the hob and hood, i'm roughly familiar with that so not that concerned there.

My question would be for the oven that i'm planning to install. Now i don't rather fancy putting the oven in a custom built cabinet. Am wondering if anyone here has tried doing a concrete box which sits about kitchen counter height for the oven?

If any of you have, are there any considerations that i need to consider besides ventilation and ensuring that the oven is installed flush with the concrete box? Don't want to get this portion wrong as tearing down concrete and rebuilding can be expensive if not just time consuming.

For all of you wondering what to do with your studio apartment/condo, maybe the designs done to this place in Buenos Aires may just give you some ideas.

Not a bad design for studio unit, love the way the interior designers have created separate spaces in the place.

Wah... heres another renovated bungalow in seputeh area. But this one is a single storey.
1st time i see an indoor lap-pool in a Malaysian house. Wonder what it costs to maintain that pool.

Love the wooden flooring and the decor this guy has done and apparently its for sale.
The article is taken from a Star Property release sometime last year.

Massively Renovated Bungalow in Seputeh KL

This bungalow has had major renovation work done to it. One thing i find most fascinating is the double volume ceiling it has on the 1st floor.
Finished with marble and timber flooring and an open concept type bathroom to boot, this is definitely one interesting house.
