Anti-maskers finally ready to wear masks!

Anti-Maskers Ready to Start Masking to Protect Themselves From the Vaccinated

A conspiracy ripping through the anti-vax world may finally drive some anti-maskers to do the unthinkable: wear a mask and keep their distance.

The conspiracy—which comes in several shapes and sizes—more or less says the vaccinated will “shed” certain proteins onto the unvaccinated who will then suffer adverse effects. The main worry is the “shedding” will cause irregular menstruation, infertility, and miscarriages. The entirely baseless idea is a key cog in a larger conspiracy that COVID-19 was a ploy to depopulate the world, and the vaccine is what will cull the masses.

Experts say the conspiracy is born from a fundamental misunderstanding of how vaccines work. It has been widely debunked and you can read about it here, here, and here, among other places.

Anti-vax influencers are instructing their fellow anti-vaxxers as well as anti-maskers (at this point the two communities overlap to a huge degree) that one of the best ways to defend themselves from this blight is to co-opt…social distancing, the very strategy they have long decried.

Sherri Tenpenny, an anti-vaxxer who was found to be key in spreading COVID-19 conspiracy theories, suggested on a recent anti-vax livestream that you may have to “stay away from somebody who's had these shots…forever.”

Another prominent anti-vaxxer suggested quarantining people who have been vaccinated. “There is something being passed from people who are shot up with this poison to others who have not gotten the shot,” said Larry Palevsky, a New York pediatrician and anti-vaxxer, on a separate livestream. They should also “have a badge on their arms that say ‘I've been vaccinated even though it's not a vaccine’ so that we know to avoid them on the street, to not go near them anywhere in society,” he said.

It’s not just social distancing that anti-maskers/anti-vaxxers are begrudgingly accepting. Some conspiracy theorists are wondering if perhaps their longtime bane, the mask, could become their salvation. One perplexed poster on the fringe site 4chan asked their fellow anons if they should “wear a mask around the vaccinated, because they shed the mRNA stuff?”

“I am going to be watching these vaccine shedding stories like a hawk,” wrote another man on Twitter. “Is my family going to need to wear masks to protect ourselves from the vaccinated?”

While the conspiracy is baseless, the fear it is causing vaccine skeptics is very real. And where there is a fear, there’s money to be made.

In a recent livestream appearance with a Canadian sovereign citizen, Judy Mikovits—one of the leading anti-vax celebrities and the key figure in the conspiracy film “Plandemic”—spoke in-depth about the conspiracy. Mikovits told a story about how she was kicked off a plane for wearing a colloidal silver mask—colloidal silver being a supplement long championed by the anti-vax and holistic crowd—to defend herself from airborne viruses.

“Why do you think they pulled me off the plane with the silver mask?” said Mikovits. “Because I'm not going to get sick, folks. I'm not going to get sick.”

The implication is these are the only masks that will work for not just viruses like COVID-19 but also the shedding. Thankfully, the masks are available from online holistic stores, of course.

Drew, an anti-fascist researcher who first tweeted about Mikovits’ stance on masks, told VICE World News he doesn’t think the masks will catch on among the anti-maskers.

"Rhetoric over the past year like ‘my body, my choice,’ ‘facts over fear,’ ‘take off the muzzle’ are going to look silly if they do (wear masks),” said Drew, who didn’t want his last name to be used out of fear of reprisals.

Nevertheless, the conspiracy is picking up steam. Recently a private school in Miami went so far as to ban vaccinated teachers from interacting with unvaccinated students. In April, a Gold Shop in Kelowna, British Columbia, caused a stir when the owners put up a sign saying the vaccinated were banned from entering the store, citing worries about vaccine shedding. The store also had a sign that masking was not allowed and instructed customers to “lower their face diaper.”

The community is still attempting to figure out how to deal with “vaccine shedding” so, to be clear, not every anti-masker is endorsing masking.

“The mask won't save people from this, either. So if you're thinking you're just going to walk around with a mask on around your vaccinated friends and family members, it's the same as walking around with one for COVID,” said one woman during a YouTube roundup for anti-vaxxers who purported to be Canadian nurses. “It's going right through.”

Natural News, an anti-vaccination conspiracy site that was banned from Facebook for spreading misinformation, is reporting hard on the shedding. In one article, a blogger wrote “a mask is useless to protect against spike protein transmission.”

The website instead advises that the only thing that may save them is a “pine needle tea.”

sos

3 ways 2019-nCoV outbreak will end

An interesting read. Not sure if posted here since the article is 5 days old, if yes then let me know I'll kolos.

For Tl;dr version, just read the bolded parts.

https://www.vox.com/science-and-health/2020...sars-comparison

Coronavirus: How does this outbreak end?
The new coronavirus outbreak may just be beginning. Epidemiologists outline three broad scenarios for how it could end.

The World Health Organization has declared the growing coronavirus outbreak in China to be a global health emergency. It’s a recognition that the outbreak — now with nearly 10,000 cases — may continue to spread beyond China, and that the nations of the world should lend their assistance and be prepared.

Just a month ago, this virus, called 2019-nCoV, was unknown to science. Now, health officials are working furiously to understand it, trying to prevent a pandemic (a larger global spread of an infection).

These are still early days. Critical questions about the virus — namely how it spreads, and how deadly it is — remain to be firmly answered. But it’s not too soon to wonder: How does this outbreak end?

Right now, infectious disease experts are outlining three broad scenarios for the future of this outbreak. Keep in mind there’s a lot of uncertainty about how this will unfold.

1) The spread of the virus gets under control through public health interventions

This is the best-case scenario, and essentially what happened with the SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) outbreak in 2003.

SARS, like this new virus, is also a coronavirus — a group of viruses that cause disease in mammals and birds. There several known coronaviruses that infect humans; others infect animals.

SARS mainly infects animals, but can jump to humans and start spreading among them. In late 2002 and 2003, SARS infected 8,096 people (mainly in China), and killed 774 people in 17 countries.

Remarkably: By 2004, SARS was basically gone. “SARS was the classic case of how various public health interventions can work and stop an outbreak,” Jessica Fairley, a professor of global health medicine at Emory University, explains.

During SARS, health authorities all worked toward identifying cases as quickly as possible, and putting infected people in isolation. That way, their immune systems can fight the virus without it spreading to anyone new. (In the unlucky cases, the virus will kill the patient, and it goes down with them.)

This takes a lot of coordination: Physicians looking out for the virus, good investigations into every case to find out who they came into contact with, and tight infection control measures in hospitals. ”And then you have more of the bigger things: travel restrictions, quarantines, or screening people at airports,” Fairley says.

It all happened fast. SARS was first reported in February 2003. By March, hundreds of people who have been exposed to SARS are quarantined in their homes. Travel advisories to the most affected areas were posted by the World Health Organization. Meanwhile, airports started screening international travelers, asking them questions about symptoms and whether they had any possible contact with the virus. And concurrently, doctors were getting more and more vigilant about diagnosing the disease, and getting patients into isolated care. By midsummer, many of the countries that had seen outbreaks were declared SARS free.

These days, SARS may still exist in animals. But it’s not spreading in humans.

Unfortunately, it might be hard to repeat the success of controlling SARS with this new outbreak. SARS was somewhat easier to contain. For one, infected people typically didn’t spread the disease until they were showing symptoms, like a fever. That means once a person got sick, they could be taken care of in quarantine, and transmission would stop there.

“If [SARS] cases were infectious before symptoms appeared, or if asymptomatic cases transmitted the virus, the disease would have been much more difficult, perhaps even impossible, to control,” a 2006 WHO retrospective on the outbreak said.

With the new outbreak, scientists are still figuring out whether the virus can be spread before symptoms arise. (Researchers now report one case where the virus was spread in this manner.) But if it can, that will make it harder to control, since some people won’t know they’re sick and may not seek medical care.

Also, in the case of SARS, health officials were a bit lucky as “it was not very efficient at transmitting outside of health care settings, and without the aid of superspreaders,” says Amesh Adalja, senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. Superspreaders are rare carriers who, due to either their behavior or makeup of their immune system, are disproportionately responsible for spreading disease. With SARS, once these people were identified, and put in isolation, it was easier to stop the disease. With the new virus, it’s not yet known what role superspreaders play.

What is known: The new outbreak is already larger than SARS. A new mathematical model published in The Lancet estimates that up 75,800 people could have been infected as of January 25 in the Chinese city Wuhan where this outbreak originated, noting that “some of those infected may be undercounted in the official register.” The researchers suggest that if the transmission of the virus is reduced by a quarter, the outbreak’s growth rate would slow.

Ultimately, an outbreak can also end with the invention of a new vaccine: But even in the fastest scenario, that could take years. “So it really comes down to how good individual public health agencies are at detecting cases, getting them care, putting them into isolation, and how good the people who are infected are at their own hygiene,” Nathan Grubaugh, an epidemiologist at the Yale School of Public Health, says.

2) The virus burns itself out after it infects all or most of the people most susceptible to it

Disease outbreaks are a bit like fires. The virus is the flame. Susceptible people are the fuel. Eventually, a fire burns itself out if it runs out of kindling. A virus outbreak will end when it stops finding susceptible people to infect.

Michael Mina, an epidemiologist at the Harvard School of Public Health, offers the 2015-2016 Zika virus epidemic in Puerto Rico and South America as an example of an epidemic that essentially burned itself out. “Tons and tons of people got infected very rapidly,” he says. (There were more than than 35,000 cases in Puerto Rico in 2016.) But then the number of people susceptible to the disease dwindled. Those who were most at risk of coming into contact with the disease-carrying mosquitoes already got the disease. “And that ultimately leaves fewer people for those viruses to go in and infect.”

Zika is still circulating to a smaller degree in Brazil. But in Puerto Rico, officials report, it’s not really spreading anymore.

With the new coronavirus, it’s still hard to how it might burn out on its own. That’s because “we don’t totally know exactly who is susceptible” to the virus, Mina says. There could be people with more of an immunity to it that others — which would limit its reach. Also once the outbreak does begin to naturally burn out, public health authorities might have an easier time stamping it out with quarantines and screenings.

It’s also possible that the virus could largely burn out in China, while good surveillance keeps it from taking hold in other countries.

This isn’t a desirable scenario. It will involve many more people getting sick, possibly dying. How bad it would be depends on aspects of the disease officials are trying to understand: how many people who catch the infection get sick, how many of those people die, and how easy is it to spread from one person to the next.

“Usually with outbreaks there’s a peak, and then it comes down,” Fairley says. “The question will be if we’ll able to completely control it, or if there will be ongoing transmission.”

Which brings us to ...

3) Coronavirus becomes yet another common virus

There’s a third scenario about how this outbreak ends. That it doesn’t.

This has happened before. In 2009, a new strain of the H1N1 flu virus encircled the globe in a pandemic. But, “after a while it became a part of our normal repertoire of what might come up each flu season,” Mina says.

Adalja explains there are now four coronavirus strains that commonly infect humans as common colds or pneumonia. It’s possible that this virus becomes the fifth — and like the flu, it could come and go with the seasons. Possibly, it could become a seasonal virus in China. Or, it could, like the flu, envelop the whole world.

“It may be that our policies have some impact on containing this outbreak” outside of China, he says. “In China, it may become a seasonal coronavirus.” Though, he stresses “it’s hard to say what’s going to happen.” This is just a possibility.

It’s also not a great one. Humanity doesn’t really need another common virus to contend with. “It does seem to have some capacity to cause severe disease,” Adalja says. “It’s not just causing common colds. We have people that have died from it. We have people in ICUs — all of that makes it something you want to get a handle on. It doesn’t quite seem as severe as SARS but it definitely seems more severe than the other coronaviruses that we’re used to dealing with every year.”

Study: Men who own Mercedes and BMWs are more likely to be assholes

https://www.fastcompany.com/90457589/scienc...-to-be-assholes

QUOTE

Yes, the drivers of those luxury cars that cut you off really do suck. A new study in the Journal of International Psychology finds that many owners of high-status luxury cars are actually assholes. “The answers were unambiguous: self-centered men who are argumentative, stubborn, disagreeable and unempathetic are much more likely to own a high-status car such as an Audi, BMW or Mercedes,” say the researchers in a press release.

The study surveyed 1,892 Finnish car owners and also analyzed their personality types, an idea inspired by lead researcher Jan-Erik Lönnqvist’s observation that the drivers “most likely to run a red light, not give way to pedestrians and generally drive recklessly and too fast were often the ones driving fast German cars” such as BMWs, Mercedes, and Audis. He knew that previous studies found luxury car drivers more likely to ignore traffic rules and drive “unethically,” but it was unclear why: Was wealth corrupting their behavior?

Lönnqvist, a professor of social psychology at the University of Helsinki, instead asked what types of people own these cars. Sure enough, he found that less cooperative, less kind, and less considerate men often drive high-status cars. “The same traits also explain why such people break traffic regulations more frequently than others,” says Lönnqvist.

He found no connection between female self-centeredness and luxury cars.

Before you start flashing the bird at passing luxury vehicles, know that not all classy car owners suck. In fact, some are quite dependable: The study also found that conscientious men and women—people who are organized, ambitious, respectable, and often high-performing—are also frequent owners of high-status cars, which Lönnqvist says likely reflects an appreciation for quality and an urge to present a self-image of classy reliability. You can probably tell the difference by whether or not they’re speeding, weaving through traffic, and cutting off pedestrians.

inb4 TS dengki sbab mampu saga flx je.

KUALA LUMPUR: Fourteen people on a plane were barred from entering the country Immigration Department learnt that they were from Wuhan, China, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic).

“I have been informed that on Tuesday (Jan 28), 14 passengers from Wuhan had landed at the KL International Airport. They were then barred from entering and have been sent back, ” said the Home Minister to a press conference in Bukit Aman on Thursday (Jan 30).

He added that front liners at ports of entry have been following strict guidelines from the Health Ministry to ensure they perform their duties without compromising their health.

On the spread of fake news regarding the novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) outbreak, Muhyiddin advised everyone to stop believing such news as it would just create fear.

The minister said that there have been eight such cases, of which action had already been taken.

He added that any decision to reintroduce the Anti-Fake News Act would have to be discussed at the government level.

“There's some areas that we might want to rethink if it’s necessary but what is important is the current situation. We have other laws such as the Penal Code and the police are taking action based on that, ” he said.

Previously the government had halted all immigration facilities including issuing visas for Chinese citizens from Wuhan and areas around Hubei province with immediate effect.

The Prime Minister's Office said the decision to suspend the issuance of visas to China nationals was made to contain the spread of the virus.

Saga cheaper but Bezza better fuel economy

Last night I read this thread below

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4888520

Some glaring calculations mistake notwithstanding, I notice everyone only calculate the amount of fuel Saga will use instead of comparing it to Bezza's fuel consumption. I was in the hospital so I cannot type berpanjang lebar on my phone, but now I am home I saw the thread has been closed.

Anyway, for the benefit of maybe a handful of curious /ktards:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Let say real world fuel consumption Bezza 5.5 liters/100km Saga 8 liters/100km

every 100km, Saga use 2.5 liter more fuel, translating to 0.025 liter more per km.

If we use TS mia theoretical fuel price of RM3/liter - that means Saga will use RM0.075 cents more than Bezza for every km travelled.

New car price difference between 2 cars is is RM 10,180.

Divide that by RM 0.075 = 135,733 km

Using an average of 20k km traveled per year and fuel at RM3/liter, you will need to drive the Bezza for almost 7 years to make up the car price difference in fuel savings.
[fb]https://www.facebook.com/UTARconfessions17/posts/966417840422356[/fb]

Girls, always remember, when you require your boyfriend to be a certain way or own certain things, make sure you’re actually worthy of such standards, that you can also reciprocate their needs and that your requirements are for the right reasons.

One boyfriend took to the UTAR Confessions Facebook page to showcase how his girlfriend had made him buy a car, only to be ridiculed for not actually buying the car that she wanted. She had apparently hinted and reminded him multiple times that buying a Myvi would be the best choice, but when he bought a Proton X70 instead, she basically told him she couldn’t face her sister without a Myvi.

He wrote, “I bought a Proton X70, but, this is the case. My girlfriend urged me to buy a car and she would keep talking about how men without cars make girls feel unsafe. I tried a few times to buy an Axia which is a more affordable car, but she seemed to have caught wind of it and made fun of Axias and Kancils in front of me everyday. She then told me about how her best friends had bought Myvis and how it’s better than an Axia. So, I dropped the Axia idea.”

Eventually, after considering his girlfriend’s hints, he decided to buy a car that was bigger than a Myvi.

“Just last month, I took out my deposit and finally made up my mind to bring the Proton x70 home, mainly because it had value for money. Little did I know, after telling my girlfriend, she told me ‘Huh? The x70? What car is that and why did you buy it? Are you stupid for buying this car?'”

She had apparently added, “Damn it, I have already hinted at you so many times to buy a Myvi, why did you go and buy an x70?”

This is considerably surprising because the x70 is more expensive and bigger than the Myvi but the girlfriend seemed to want a Myvi so that she could impress her sister.

“Didn’t you know that the Myvi is a God-like car? Without a Myvi, how do you expect me to face my friends?” she had asked him.

At this point, the boyfriend could no longer contain his disbelief.

“Hello! Isn’t the x70 more expensive than the Myvi? If you want the Myvi so badly, would it have killed you to just tell me straight away? Go show your friends,” he had said.

I mean, if she wanted a Myvi so badly, why didn’t she just buy one herself instead of hinting at her boyfriend? He can just buy whatever car he wants for himself.

Hence, girls, be independent and buy your own car and to the boyfriend, you clearly deserve to be treated better.

WOB Sos

Tl;dr
- gf wants a maivee
- bf buys her a X70
- gf marah him bodoh coz bawa X70 xde muka

House owner receives huge bill from TNB

BATU PAHAT, Nov 29 — In what can be described as a shocking amount, a computer shop technician from Yong Peng here was billed RM47,258.05 for power consumption by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

Kuan Chin Ee, 41, was taken aback when told that he must settle the amount.

He said the amount was shocking as he paid his utility bills on time and was only told about the amount by TNB earlier this month.

“This happened in October when two TNB staff had persuaded my maid to let them enter my house as they needed to take a look at my electricity meter.

“The staff then open up my meter and took some photos before telling my maid to inform me to go to TNB’s office regarding my electricity usage,” Kuan claimed at a press conference organised by Johor MCA Youth at a coffeeshop here today.

Johor MCA Youth chief Ling Tian Soon was present.

Kuan said he was shocked when the TNB staff accused him of stealing electricity and claimed that they received a complaint about it from the house owner.

“It doesn't make any sense at all. I am the house owner and I have never made a complaint on stealing electricity,” he said, adding that he also received a warning letter from TNB this month, to settle the due amount as soon as possible.

Kuan said he was upset that the TNB staff entered his home without any his permission.

He said that he has lodged a report with the Batu Pahat district police alleging trespass.

Ling, who also represented the local MCA complaints and public service bureau, said he was surprised at Kuan’s case that he described as not making sense due to the amount owed.

He explained that even if Kuan’s bill was about RM300 a month, it would take about 157 months to reach the said amount.

“Basically, that is 13 years worth of unpaid electricity bills. He owns a house and not a factory,” said Ling.

Another case highlighted by the Johor MCA Youth was that of a 34-year-old female farm hand Soh Hwee Hoon whose vacant house in Yong Peng here was billed for RM1,600 in unpaid electricity bills.

She claimed that before April this year her bills were only about RM3.00 to RM5.00 a month since she took possession of the house in 2017.

“However, for the month of April I was billed for RM1,266 and it continued to increase at the rate of about RM100 for each consecutive month.

“In October I then received a letter from TNB clarifying that there was technical issues with my electricity metre that had caused inaccurate readings,” said Soh, adding that TNB had also assured her that RM300 will be credited to her account for the following month due to the error.

However, Soh said the amount of RM1,266 was definitely more than the RM300 amount that TNB has agreed to refund her.

“There is about RM900 that I still have to settle with TNB,” she said.

Ling urged TNB to explain the situation and rectify it as soon as possible as there were obvious errors in the two cases.

“TNB, as a responsible government-linked corporation (GLC), must look into the matter as the two complainants are only employed and the excessive billings was unnecessary for them,” he said.

In May, TNB officially admitted that it had experienced technical issues from May 15 to 20 in its billing system causing consumers to complain about the sudden spike in electricity bills nationwide.

Following that, a special task force was set-up to monitor and review all reports or complaints received.

Earlier, many consumers had complained through social media that their electricity bill had increased and they felt cheated, as TNB had remained silent on the matter.

Sos

TNB going after users to pay their huge tax bill?
