KUALA LUMPUR: It's the end of an era, as former Olympic silver medallist Goh Liu Ying announced her retirement today.

The 33-year-old who bagged the mixed doubles silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics with Chan Peng Soon, told the media that the Malaysia Open in January will be her swansong.

After the launch of the Anugerah Ikon Sukan Harian Metro, Liu Ying said: "The Malaysia Open next year will be my last tournament.

"Who I will partner? You will have to wait and see, but that will be my last."

TLDR:

The median gross monthly salary among graduates in full-time permanent jobs climbed from $3,700 in 2020 to $3,800 last year. The figure was $3,600 in 2019.

Graduates from information and digital technologies in particular took home the top pay of $5,000, up from $4,760 last year and $4,400 in 2020.

SINGAPORE - More university graduates secured full-time jobs last year, as Singapore's economy grew and recovered from a recession brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Results from the latest graduate employment survey showed that 84 per cent of fresh graduates in the labour force were in full-time permanent roles, compared with 69.8 per cent in 2020.

Overall employment rates and salaries among those who graduated from universities last year also both inched up, according to the poll results released on Wednesday (Feb 16).

Panasonic is offering employees the option of taking a four-day workweek, freeing them up to take side jobs, volunteer, or just relax.

According to Bloomberg, Panasonic joins a small but growing list of companies that are offering flexible working situations for employees, in the hopes of increasing worker productivity and happiness.

“Our responsibility is to strike an ideal balance between the work style and life style for our diverse human capital,” Panasonic CEO Yuki Kusumi said on a call with investors.

SYDNEY, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Australia's daily COVID-19 cases hit a record high for a third day on Wednesday, further straining hospital resources and testing facilities as public anger grew over the handling of the fast-moving outbreak of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

Many Australians, already unhappy about long queues at public testing centres and a shortage of at-home tests, were further incensed when news broke that tennis world number one Novak Djokovic had been given a medical exemption to enter the country.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison, under pressure at the start of an election year, announced a further relaxing of testing requirements to shorten long lines, and provided access to free rapid antigen tests for pensioners, the poor and veterans.

The rapid surge in cases in recent weeks has led to long lines at publicly-funded polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing centres. That prompted authorities to ask people to only seek PCR tests if symptomatic, which in turn led to a shortage of rapid antigen tests, which can be used at home.

Officials reported a record 64,774 new cases, the majority in New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria, the country's two most populous states. That exceeded the previous day's tally of around 47,800
