Screen Freeze after Login SCreen

Hi

Earlier I was playing a 3D game, then half way my PC just froze.

I rebooted and could never get into Windows

BIOS > Windows loading > Logon Screen > Login > FREEZE <

Safe Mode works, and after uninstalling GPU drivers I can get into Windows again.
Without GPU drivers, the PC can work

Installed GPU drivers again, and cant get into Windows again as it freezes after logon
Feels like GPU died, as its pretty much to do with GPU drivers.
System restore doesnt work

Any suggestions to test further on GPU

PC is on 24/7
Recently PC self shutdown. This has been randomly happening throughout the DAY only when I go to work. Has not happened for 1.5 years.

Sometimes 5 days, Sometimes 2 days, sometimes 7 days only it happens.

When I come home, PC is already off (means shut down during the day)
Today I found out, while doing nothing, it just shutdown and then tries to start over and over (fan up, light up, then down) for about 10 seconds.
Then completely shutdown and no more attempts.

Any idea?

Additiional information

DDR2 400 is the FIRST DDR2. There are 400,533,667,800, etc
This is not DDR2 800 (as many people think it would be)
400 being the first revision, its not the same as DDR1 400
If your board uses DDR1, do not purchase this as the voltage/slot is different
If your board can use DDR2, make sure it can use 400 as many only support 533,667,800

I've got a spare Athlon 64x2 5600+ processor and was thinking to build another PC

Get a AM2/AM2+motherboard with some DDR2 RAM or buy a whole AM3 motherboard, CPU and DDR3

Mobo AM2+ RM200 (if lowyat can find such mobo still)
DDR2 4GB RM105 (i know someone selling this on lowyat)

or

Mobo AM3/AM3+ RM ?
CPU RM ?
DDR3 4GB RM ?

Which is better investment or doesnt cost a bomb?

Graphic Card I know a 7750 or 7770 would suffice to play some games medium setting
Sole purpose is to play DOTA2 on 1280x1024 resolution
Thats allocated RM350-450 budget already

Casing doesnt matter, hard disk and cdrom will reuse

PSU maybe get a RM200 below, but not sure what model yet. Can recommend?

What is the LOWEST core/ram for Sapphire 6850

Hi there

I have a Sapphire 6850 Vapor-X
Windows 7 , 64 bit
4GB RAM

Upon boot up , it core/ram speeds are 100:150 at stays about 42C
This gives it really good temperatures and noise levels
However, it glitches when I scroll pages and browser. Like having difficulty to refresh the page

When I play a 3d game, it ramps up to 775:1000 at temp stays about 65C
This is good, and play games no problem. High settings etc.

After I quit the 3d game, it drops to about 200:600 and stays about 53C
It doesn't glitch here but I know this is not the lowest speeds it can go

I tried manually adjust to 200:400 and the PC crashed, and I needed to hard reboot

I want to find out the lowest x:y speeds to maintain the coolest / less noisiest settings for my card when im browsing in Windows

anyone with this card has an idea?
any software to find it out?

I have a colleague who handed me this motherboard (ASUS M2N-E) with a CPU within (bought in 2008) with 2x2GB DDR800. Not sure what CPU yet.

Me being very familiar with Intel boards, and LGA 775 and 1156 etc cant seem to decipher what AMD processors code name and numbers mean. I checked the website and it seems to support ALOT OF CPU, even Quad Core and latest Phenom. Does this mean the sockets are the same and the mobo supports?

For RAM, I am quite certain that I need another 2x2GB DDR800 for dual channel so I guess thats covered (RM116 each)

It seems the motherboard has PCIE 16x for GPU (empty slot) which I am looking to buy a new GPU for. What would someone recommend ? Can someone point me in the right way of what things to look into , such as CPU's to purchase (upgrade it to) and what GPU to get (that doesnt bottleneck). I have been in and out of the PC industry for Desktop for a few years hence I am not updated.

I will probably not be overclocking it so just need a stable system to run and play some games.

I need some history class for AMD, and I apologize because I am a total noob >.<

Hi,

Anyone with the above card can recommend me drivers that you are using on Windows XP 32 bit

So far the official drivers from HIS "XP_8.65-090813a-087120E-ATI" is the only drivers that can recognize my card as
"ATI Radeon AGP 3650" but its probably outdated (dated back to 2009)
I found issues with OpenGL , which is not even registered

After reading a lot from the internet,

I've tried downloading the latest 12.4 Catalyst AGP hotfix for Windows XP (25 April 2012) but that recognizes my card as
"ATI Radeon 3600 series" or "Visiontek Radeon 2600 XT" which is worse

How did I check ?

this is the last driver that support 3650 directly

everything above 9.8, such as 9.9 all label your hardware as :

3600 series (which is too generic, causing problems)
or
vision tek 2600 XT *(which is wrong!!)

i downloaded every driver package, unpacked and went thru the .INF file
only catalyst 9.8 labels our hardware correctly :
"ATI Radeon HD 3650 AGP" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9596

others, label it as
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9596
"ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series " = ati2mtag_RV630,

Noticed I bold the hardware device ID, which is 9596.

Core 2 Quad vs i7

Hello

I searched around the net for detailed specifications but hope some masters can explain it to me.

How many physical cores the above processors have, and how many virtual cores.

We will use the below for comparison to make me better understand them

A Quad Q8200 is 2.33ghz with 4MB cache
A i7 920 is 2.66ghz with 8MB cache

The C2Q is 2.33ghz x 2 physical dies and 2 cores each, with 4MB on each die or core?
The i7 is 2.66ghz x 2 physical dies and 4 cores each, with 8MB on each die or core?

I am wondering how the processor is broken down and how many dies / cores are with how much of cache.

Then we have HT feature, making things even more complicated but lets disregard HT first.

So , lamens terms,
am I right when I say 2.33ghz x 4 = C2Q and 2.66ghz x 8 = i7 ?

Please, you can fix the above, I think I got myself all confused so far and would need some fixing

I also admit I might not even understand this correctly yet.. been reading too many conflicting things

Ratling sounds during acceleration

My Car : Proton Saga 1.3 (30000km , 2.5 years) service at Proton SC at 5000km intervals ( i guess still under warranty )

i came here in search for suggestion for my possible problem

8 days ago, i headed over a petrol station

pumped in full gas, filled up my tyres with air

drove to work

on the way home on the federal highway, i had a toned down radio and i could hear ratling sounds from the hood area

i noticed this ratling sounds only come when i accelerate above 2500RPM, and immediately releasing the pedal, the ratling gets softer till eventually none

the ratling sounds sounds like an old taxi sort of sound and gets louder as i acclerate
this happens on gears around 3,4,5 as i accelerate between 60-100kmph

on Neutral free gear, revving up the engine to 3500RPM does not produce any sounds

i noticed a slight smell of oil through my airconds when i hear louder ratling sounds as well.

im seeking for some initial pointers and how critical this is

issit possible to send to a proton service center to check it out and get it fixed (warranty) ?
does warranty even cover that?

or must i send it to some mechanic shop and ask them to find the problem?

My Modem IP 192.168.1.1 (both dhcp auto)
My Belkin IP 192.168.2.1 (both dhcp auto)

When I setup my Aztech router, there is connection to the internet
Below is the configuration in a screenshot

When I setup my Belkin router, notice the WAN IP is 192.168.1.2 and gateway is 192.168.1.1 and its using DYNAMIC

Now I cannot port forward because it is using the Aztech as the internet router and my Belkin as only a 'switch'.

My aztech only has 192.168.1.2 IP to port forward to, but that is port forwarding to the router?

Previously, my Belkin configuration I remember was that the WAN IP would be "60.49.xx or 118.100.xx" with gateways of TMnet instead of my modem.

I also remember that my Belkin connects to the internet using PPPoE instead of Dynamic.

My question is how do I configure my Belkin to login the modem for me, assign ip addresses and also take care of port forwarding , all in 1 instead of Aztech modem and Belkin both acting smart?

Previously if I restarted my Belkin, it will restart the WAN IP address meaning it had all the control .. now its not

I am taking a wild guess to disable the DHCP on the Aztech modem to give all ip control to the Belkin?

Software to load up data unto RAM

I am basically searching for an application to almost make RAM become ROM.

Maybe someone has come across such tweak or application.

EG :

Hardware has 4GB RAM installed

Application installed = 400MB on C drive

Windows shows utilization of about 100MB of ram for that application but slow performance with plenty of SPARE RAM remaining.

Can we make this available spare RAM to remember the entire application installed (400MB) on the RAM so usage is faster and responds faster?

Keyboard auto word suggestion removal

I am wondering whether there is a way to remove the the auto suggestion words that the keyboard suggests

eg :

type "rem" in new SMS

and the list appears with suggestions :

rememver <----
remember
remoting
remarkable

there once was i typed "rememver" and it saved that

anyone know how to clear the entire dictionary cache for saved suggestion words ?

Last night I was running a scheduled SPB Backup on my WM5.0 Dopod 800W

It hung after probably 40 minutes (4am in the morning)

After many restarts, my battery is showing near 0% and currently charging it up

I used Pocket Mechanic & SK Tools and I can see :

Only when i click LYN > Console Couch, I get a pop up from NOD32 mentioning there is a virus

In fact, there are 3 viruses appearing on the Consoles Couch.

I have no problem with Sub forums inside Console couch such as PS,Xbox and Nintendo

Hard reset a DOPOD 800w

I am aware that not many people have this model

I have done a search on google on how to hard reset

Nearest thing I can come across would be

LEFT SOFT KEY and RIGHT SOFT KEY and PUSH RESET BUTTON

I wish to restore a backup from SPB Backup soon after the hard reset

EDIT :: I found the CLEAR STORAGE option as well. Does that work like the hard reset ?
